Runs
32,520
England 253/7 (71.0 ov)

England trail by 86 runs with 3 wickets remaining in the 1st innings

Try to get them all out while we are about 40 ahead. Amir and Yasir to start

If we can even manage a lead of even 40 we have a good chance if our batsmen score around 250

Huge queues outside Lord's. Don't think there'll be many empty seats today.

Pakistan have box office appeal.

Two of England's best batsman is in the crease. Both of them look more solid and fluent than Cook and Root (Joking but Woakes still better than Vince, Hales, Balance and Bairstaw). We need to ball extraordinary well to get them out as soon as possible. Otherwise both can score big and end up 100+ runs lead.

LOLLL Botham blaming the decision against Moeen for the position England is in and saying it was wrong. What about Azhars dismissal then Botham? Love to hear him cry tbh

England cannot take 100+ run lead.

It will be almost a miracle.

At best they will draw level...or take at best 50 run lead (if they play incredibly well or are very lucky)....likely stuff is England getting bowled out for 300-330.

If Pakistan strike in the first 10 minutes, then 275 barring major luck as one of the other bats will start swinging cos the next 2 batsmen can't bat.

What an evenly poised test. Really interested in this first session.

I don't understand why sky stick with Botham he adds nothing to the analysis.

Btw this game is more important than frickin golf. Why is golf on sky sports 1?

Sky sports 1 is set aside solely for golf at the moment and has actually been renamed 'Sky Sports The Open'. Sky sports 2 is where all the cricket usually is and 9 times out of 10 if there's a game on you'll find it on 2.

Alright

Anyone keeping an eye on this WinViz thing? Saw it being used in NZ recently and sky have integrated it into their coverage a bit.

Gives incredibly detailed predictions based on the current game situation, weather forecasts, historical data and stats. Its current prediction is :

England 315 all out in 88 overs
Pakistan 295 all out in 88 overs
England 320/9 in 93 overs (win by 1 wicket halfway through the 1st session on day 5)

I find myself more excited about this series than India series itself.

lol.

Can't watch fully but will pop in and out whenever I can.

England's first innings score is a real possibility.

Ridiculous predictions reg the rest.

How can they predict 320/9?

Haha.

Are they just running data from the past matches and giving these stats?

Thats a bit ridiculous. Its better than that NZ one though. (I forgot what its called)

Oh man what the hell is this, bright sunshine all around the ground.

Looks like a good batting day. This morning will be tough.

One thing is for sure, if Pakistan dismiss England early, expect hafeez to drive home advantage: his kind of situation, lesser pressure and hence will bat freely.

Full expect England to take a lead. Woakes will get 80 odd.

Broad will get 20-30

Pak will be bundled out second innings

I believe the system is completely automated and based on stats, current Hawkeye data to judge batting conditions and historical events. If you download their app you can see how their prediction has changed throughout the test as well depending on what's happened.

So far I've only see sky show a graph showing the changing win and draw % liveliness as well as a graphic attempting to predict how many runs a teams fielding has cost/gained them (both were negative when it popped up yesterday).

Think both are actually developed in NZ, you're thinking of WASP I believe? As far as I know that one involved a lot more commentator input and didn't consider the conditions or the individual players?

Fielders sleeping AGAIN. Was supposed to be in a fly slip position for that catch.

Pakistan would be delighted with this cos if the wicket has flattened and even if England level, Palkistan can score 250-300 and leave England in a disarray having to face Yasir in 4th innings.

England would be hoping its not too flat.

The key thing here is not try to be a superstar: leave that to yasir. The pacers have to support the legspinner by keeping it tight. And Wahab doesn't have the intelligence for that.

Its a delight to hear Hussain and warne together in the commentary box. Lot of insights and knowledgeable comments. Sky commentary team is the best in the world easily.

Wahab is so useless. There is a target in front of him who is scared off short balls and still he is not even testing him
