England v Pakistan | 1st Test | Lord's | Jul 14-18, 2016 | Day 3

On contrary from somewhat popular believes, it is actually a spinner who's winning a Test match in England. Pakistan should do well as long as Yasir's service is available. Just imagine what England players will be upto in India.

Neither of these two have many shots against spin. Still have to try milking Moeen for as many singles as possible.

Shaan should be appreciated here - he did his primary job in both innings - surviving the opening pair, now need to play for lunch.

We played a Maiden on Moeen :14: in England i.e.

Ladies and Gentlemen a new low for Shaan !!

Idk he keeps talkking about 4 runs an over as if that exact number matters. He wants us to score off every ball or something. Its getting annoying.
He probably is getting frustrated Pakistan batsmen not hitting boundaries like English batsmen against the new ball. Easy to forget the fact that English bowlers hardly serve up pies.

I hope you guys prepare rank turners.

Shan somehow got an start he needs to capitalize on this he has a chance to improve we need some openers please Shan be a reliable one,

He is playing for lunch - leave him. Also, if Moeen goes for runs, Cook would take him off. The game is just 45% into it's duration & PAK has a telling advantage; the more Moeen bowls, the better.

Damn. Had my heart in my mouth there. Theyve reviewed. Please dont be any edge.

Shaan has some good shots, but his tendency of "falling" makes him twice vulnerable on anything short or incoming - that's duel agony, can't play short, can't play in swing. But, if Arthur can fix his technical issues, he has right temperament for a Test opener.

How? Arthur is not a batting coach. And how can he change someone's technical issues after playing for so long in the domestic cricket

I don't comment much on here but we seem to have some very fickle fans on board. Shan masood getting criticised for playing a maiden against Moeen Ali 10 mins before lunch . It's a bloody test match . So much nonsense it's unbelievable .

Pak 40/1 - lead by 107 - Another 243 runs need i think to have a match winning lead.

Decent little session for Pak, Hafeez's aberration aside.

Masood looking a bit more at ease now.

Good session.. Next session would be crucial Pakistan needs to win next session to win the game..

I think this was a decent session, should really look to kick on in session 2

Azhar sees off new ball better than all openers we have tried in last 10 years, why not open with him and play a much better batsman then useless openers we have?? [emoji848][emoji848][emoji848]

This has to happen for Pakistan to move forward. Next March it's Jimmy, stroke coming back there team would be doubly hard to beat, we cannot play with man down. [emoji35][emoji35][emoji35]

Glad we survived to lunch without further loss of wicket. We should look to bat until mid afternoon tomorrow as there's no demons in this pitch so a chance to rack up a big lead.

If you can't differentiate between a troll post and a genuine one then I am presuming you to having a very hard time on this discussion board. Dude it was a leg pulling comment - Clearly it worked :D

He won't teach him high elbow, steady head, toe in line - he 'll identify major weaknesses & 'll work out with Grant the practice simulation for Shaan. Say, may be someone (or a bowling machine) bowling him for hours together for the 3/4 type of balls that troubling him; may be from 12 metres, so that his reflex is challenged.

Shaan can't learn anything from domestics, that part (temperament) he has lot from his UK days. His technical flaws on't be identified in PAK domestic cricket in 25 years. Besides, born in Kuwait & schooled there, so I take him genuine 24/25 - next couple of years for developing (not learning) the game.

Look, he is not my cousin, but this guy is one of the hardest worker of the team; gets undue bashing for non cricketing issues. He should get a fair chance - debuted with 75 against SAF, left out against SRL for MoHa; came back in the team against NZ for Ahmed's injury, again made a decent 75; made come back 3rd time in SRL, made a wonderful cool 125 in a chase on 4th innings. Now,doing his job perfectly - he is not Anwar, but there are not many either.

Seems like Shan had thought about his game. Credit where due.

But if he doesn't kick on from here, it will be a waste. At least a 50.

[MENTION=79064]MMHS[/MENTION] ball was reversing today for us, there in uneven bounce and one of Moeens ball's really turned. I think our bowlers will really come in to play in the 4th innings

Well said. He is a hard worker and that's respectable.

Do you think Shahzad would've done better than MoHa at Lords?

What are you having from this ?

Must make a big mess?

Or is menu exclusive to members or something?

True. I've been very disappointed with Masood's technique but can't fault the lad for his work ethic. We need intelligent, educated and hardworking players like him and Azhar, who are always striving to improve and learn from their mistakes, rather than the types who overrate their own talent instead of working to improve their game, :shehzad :uakmal and those who rely on their seniority-based privileges to make it to the starting eleven. :hafeez

2nd innings, probably, not sure of 1st. It's not easy out there for sure. Look, Misbah, Asad, Yasir has given a chance so people are not recalling what ENG has done to visitors at home in last few years.

Ahmed's cricket skill shouldn't be considered for why he is out of the team. He averages 45+ entirely based on UAE (& SRL) tours, where MoHa has better stats.

I can say only that, I'll play MoHa in ENG not above No. 5; but I would have opened with Ahmed if he was there.

But, for that PAK has to bat till lunch tomorrow, even at 2.2 rate - ENG scores quickly, one partnership for a session, they'll halve the target below 250. With Dukes ball, PAK 'll always reverse after 60 overs - the basic ingredients are there, pace & slingy action.

Gower trying to embarrass Holdings, but gets owned and then ask gowers to jump in..

English have always been hypocrites.

Masood looking dodgy straight after lunch, then plays a nice drive for 4.

Masood gone! poor shot fishing just like in 1st inns.

44/2

Masood looks a decent player and there is something there to work with despite another disappointing dismissal. We need a big score from either Azhar or YK now.

Well Holding was comparing refusing to play against someone because of the rationality of the person they decided to marry to refusing to play against someone because the were actively part of a rebel cricket league...

Still can't believe Ball opened the bowling instead of Woakes.. Can someone give me any sort of logic in that?
