What's new

England v Pakistan | 1st Test | Lord's | Jul 14-18, 2016 | Day 3

Looks like england will win by six wickets. Its a beautiful batting day with no demons in the pitch and our batting showing its class.

Younis gets another lifeline. A part of me was hoping for the misery to end because Sarfraz can put some life into this innings.

Now this DRS is what we miss in our away tours. If it was India, our fate would have been sealed with that decision.

After how many deliveries did Younis middle one? That sounded refreshing.

I would let him play till Australia series and then Induct Youngsters in 2017/18 UAE leg. Wont be fair on Babar, Saud or HArris to be starting their career in NZ/Aus

That's the PAK approach.

In 2004, Michel Clarke was selected for IND tour - in some ABC program, I was listening conversation, where Aussie CS (Trevor Hawhns?) was talking. Same issue was raised - young player, 1st time against IND, in IND, is this fair? Particularly for such a strong team - if he fails, AUS might lose a quality young player.

This is was the response (don't go word by word) - Mike is picked for his potential & performance, not from expectation. He might fail in IND, but this is the best time to draft him as he has the quality, he is in good nick & he has the comfort of a great line-up. If he fails, still it doesn't change that he is one of the best for future, again will get his chance as we'll persist with him; but if he succeeds, he is going to be the next big thing from Australia. What do you want me to do - deprive a youngster for possible failure, or give him a chance to prove himself?"

Clarke batted at 6 & made 153 on debut at Bangalore, then took 6/9 at Mumbai ..............

Having said everything about yk, I think you can't ask for a better situation that having a guy with 9000 runs at the crease.

We Indians got a rude shock from the 4th test.

Trent Bridge and Lord's we did well.

But the game really changed for us in 4th and 5th.

These are easier English conditions to bat.

There are WAY MORE tougher pitches in England.

Pakistan screwing up a lot today but still match is 50-50 cos they got a big lead and Yasir is there.

But a collapse now would change the fate.

This can be discounted, in my 15 years of test cricket viewing never seen a track turn so much, 100% dust bowl. AUS got shot for 90 odd chasing 100 in the 4th innings!

True, but there was 4 other spinner in that match.

Need atleast 100 more to be competetive. Need 150 more to have a upper hand IMO

Is Younis just going to block and kick his back leg back at every ball? At least look to rotate the strike for once.

We are going nowhere here. Nowhere.

I have never seen a team bat with such lack of purpose and planning with a considerable first innings lead.

If England have a killer mentality, they need to go and break this partnership and try to prey on Pakistan's collapse vulnerability and get them around 100.

Still they got to chase 167 which isn't as easy as it looks.

That lead was gold dust.
