England v South Africa [Super 8s/Match 19] - Updates

Well, English fans will have seen him do well in the test series in 2004 I think and in (albeit) county cricket. He seems to be one of these guys who never lets the team down but is never certain of his place in the team, a fallguy , a bit like Dips.

I feel for Bopara. z10 was right about him - he is ridiculously talented, and is a treat to watch. Also, he seems to be fairly consistent, which is more than what can be said about his teammates, Michael Vaughan in particular. How he is still in the ODI team, I have no clue. He might be the best captain of all time (which he is not) but if he can't even score one 100 in god knows how many matches, and keeps throwing away starts, he should be kicked out immediately.

Shouldn't Younis be kicked out for the same reasons? You defended Younis' position in the team yet you want Vaughan out even though their performances have been pretty much the same

Vaughan and Younis's performances are not even close to the same. Younis has a crucial 100 against England, and a 92 against South Africa in his last 15 matches. Vaughan has nothing even close to that.

26/0 after 3 overs. Run rate above 7. Brilliant Start. No guesses who's bowling; Saj

THIS HAS MADE D VILLIERS AVERAGE REACH 36 FROM 35!!! what a couple of 4s will do to you eh?

should saf take it slow? i really want no wickets drowned. show the english a thing or too.

Damn, de Villiers is really inconsistent. 4 ducks in this tournament, but when he gets going, he ends up getting a big one.

He is playing some lovely shots at the moment, 27 of 16 balls with 5 fours.

If saf were batting first and they maintained it; we could see a repeat of the scores made in THAT odi v Aus

should reach 50 in the next ten balls if maintained.

flintoff WHACKED for four by smith. that too has buffed up his average to 39!!!

this batting is worthy of indias 120 runs off us in 10 or 12 overs i think in the 2005 odi series at home

i'm not bothered to watch this one. this outcome is as obvious as me getting u-graded on my tests.

After 7 overs, England were 9-0 and interestingly the Proteas are going at the rate of 9 runs per over with 64-0.

80/0 - de Villiers batting like a dream, quality cut shot.

They can stay on that Island for the rest of their lives. Disgraceful performance by the team but what should i come to expect from a team that do this every match. I expect heads to roll after this.

saf back where they left off after villers loss. should be over in the next 4 overs max.

knowing england they might get an OBE for making it to the super 8's

They would've scored 405 runs if they continued at that monstrous rate

Saffers always have funny games. Destroyed WI and Eng. Lose to Bangladesh. Gave Aus a good game (still lost by a big margin, but had the upper hand for a while). Beat Ireland. Lose to NZ on a damp pitch (was unplayable for 1st hour).

So what does that leave us ... semi-final against Aus. Sounds like fun. :)
