England v South Africa [Super 8s/Match 19] - Updates

Nasty bouncer from Nel and played very well by KP, the best of both sides with that delivery...good cricket

Wicket maiden.

We need a few good overs or we could be consumed by good bowling here until we ultimately collapse.

quite frankly Michael Vaughan should never play one day cricket again, he has to be the worst player to play more than 50 games for England

Wait til he takes 4-23 with the ball :P

I don't rate Hall. The most accurate bowlers are off now, so any further 'reconnisance' and defence is inexcusable.

England need to survive till Hall bowls, then they will have a chance to strike.

Strauss is playing pretty well here. After a poor winter he owes the team some runs.

What would be a good score today? It's not the easiest pitch.

I dont think SAF can chase more than 220. 15 overs of spin and that will be tto much for them.

Poor innings from Pietersen, too defensive. It was coming.

Looks like another Collingwood rescue job is required...

Piterson gone. So Smith wins that battle and Englan in major trouble...see if Collingwood can save England from here.

I'm not so sure that South Africa are particularly set in this game. They've started very well but their lack of slower bowlers could really hurt them in the next 20 overs.

That is if there is anybody left to bat by then.

Need to do a recovery job similar to that of Bell and KP against the Aussies and have a big partnership. Need to push the score to 240...

They really need to aim for 230+ to make a good game out of it i would think !!

With wickets left and Flintoff to bat im sure they can make it ...

all talk nixon goes. they made him a hero after SL match even thgh they lost and now he goes

Here's me thinking Chris Read was the one weak under pressure...

Not sure why Monty bats below some of the jokers above him either. Fletcher is determined to typecast him as a rabbit.

looks like it's all over for England unless the Pakistani and the Indian can resue England...

Hall is a terrific player - never lets the team down. The Kamal of SA.

Saj out for a golden duck

England are a joke, especially when they keep on collapsing after a decent start.. from 111/3 to this! :))) :)))

So it's looking like we will have Sri-Lanka-NZ as one of the semi-finals and the other, surprise-surprise, Aussies vs the South Africans!!! Can the South africans erase the memory of the 1999 World Cup or will they be just another casualty of the Australian juggernaut!

chokkkaaa by Bopara :27: need a few more to make this game interesting
Eng 141-8 after 41.2

Just wondering who has been a bigger failure with the bat, Flintoff or Vaughn? Anybody have any stats?

154 all out. Hall is turning out to be an excellent bowler for South Africa, bowled very well against us, and now a 5 wicket haul when they most need it. Well done.

Hall has been around for a long time now so I wouldn't say turning out. He has always been a very fine performer with bat and ball but he is definitely coming to more prominence as a result of doing well in the World Cup so in that sense I would agree with you Easa Q.

Vaughn just edges Flintoff...I was thinking, maybe they should align thier batting order according to the batting averages i.e. Collingwood and Pieterson opening...can't get any worse!

If I recall correctly, Hall wasn't exactly setting the world alight with his bowling in 2005 and half of 2006. He has recently found his bowling groove, and that is why he is being recognized as a bowler now; he has results to back him up.
