Captain Cooks ship has been sinking for long time now, Root should get the job. Someone with positive play....
 
To be fair to Cook, he's been the best batsmen in the series for England, along with good support from Stokes.

Overall I think NZ deserve a 1-1.
 
Gone just about as expected.

Lots of poor dismissals, a couple of gutsy 40s, but ultimately no actual chance of escape.

Congrats New Zealand.

Buttler reviews but he's a goner. NZ level the series, they've played superb cricket to get back in this Test after England were cruising in the first innings. That mid-innings collapse was the difference and then England were simply batted out of the match.

1-1. Great series.
 
Excellent series, shame its only 2 test but well done kiwis they deserved atleast a draw in this series.
 
What a series.

Deserved to play a 5 test series which an undeserving Indian side was given last year.
 
NZ deserved it for their positive attractive cricket! England a bit bland.

I think all series should be minimum 3 matches........tells you how out of touch "The Authority" is!

NZ need to find a quality spinner and bowler in less helpful conditions just like England.
 
This loss doesn't count! We win the series 1 - 0. It's a conspiracy by the ICC to harm England!
 
NZ's becoming a really good test side but to take that next step of becoming a great team, they're gonna need enforcers, game changers in batting and bowling e.g. Warner and Johnson for Australia, Steyn and AB for SA etc.
 
The first ODI begins in Birmingham next Tuesday. I fear another phainty for England at the hands of the resurgent Kiwis.

I actually thought England would lose both games so 1-1 is not so bad a result. NZ are a good side, although they are better suited to ODIs.
 
NZ has created new brand of Test Cricket here.. Kudos to them!

Kinda looks like Nz would had won the series incase it was 5 test matches.They showed massive improvement.Hopefully they keep doing well.
 
NZ still needs to perform against Australia and especially against Safrica to take a revenge for previous humiliation.. Only then they will earn true respect across the globe..

What does the style of play have to do with this victory? Had New Zealand been less aggressive in their batting they would have still won this because of the collapse by England's middle order.

The ECB feel that they have to jam seven tests into a summer. The Ashes are the big draw and that will always be five tests, so NZ got shoehorned in before them, with some ODIs in the middle.

I'd rather see a proper six-test Ashes series, and NZ could get three (or even five) tests another summer.
 
Played NZ by the way. I feel 1-1 was a fair reflection of the way the two sides played. McCullum got found out tactically at Lord's, but learned not to attack every minute at Leeds.

Why not just have 7 Test Series for the Ashes every year.....or have a seven test series against India in between and then play
NZ, PAK, Sri Lanka etc.....every 5 years for a single test.... :69:

Congrats to NZ. They played aggressively and pushed really hard for that victory so they earned every bit of it.
 
I wonder how NZ will go on when they play this way against a better team than England.
