England will win the 2019 World Cup

Idk 3 of my older threads mysteriously got deleted, one was even an off topic thread deleted in off topic chat lol

Yeah, don't take that personally it happens often when threads and posts are cleaned for system reasons.

Obviously a troll thread, but England will definitely do a lot better than they did this year, simply because they are playing at home. They also made the 2013 Champions Trophy and the 2017 one, which is also in England, will give us a better insight into their prospects in 2019.

They simply lack the all-round quality both skill-wise as well as mentally to compete with the likes of Australia and India. At best, I see a semifinal exit for them.

They do have the potential to go on a great run in ODIs though, have a very good batting line-up that is capable of meeting the requirements of modern-day ODI cricket.

How do you come to that conclusion that its a troll thread? Hosts always start off with an advantage when they play World Cup on their own soil and i think hosts will win this time around again. Especially since England have been taking ODIs a bit more seriously after that horrid 2015 outing

IIRC they did not get out of the group stage in their last home WC.

In this era, home advantage seems to be making all the difference. No team won a home World Cup (except for Sri Lanka winning the 96 World Cup which they co-hosted) for 36 years before India and Australia both won at home in the last two editions, and we saw how New Zealand won all their matches and lost their only away one, which happened to be the final.

In the 2013 Champions Trophy, England did make the final before bottling it.

I don't see them maintaining the trend set by India and Australia but I do think they won't flop like they did in 99. Perhaps a semifinal exit probably.

Mashalla what a performance by root. What did I tell you guys? England will be crushing teams in 2019

Robert Congrats on England's next ATG era. :srt Been a long wait.

Thanks but don't count your chickens. They are batting well against a sort of bowling attack they are used to. Let's see them do it against the Aussie quicks and then in UAE. Also their bowling looks thin.

Yes you are right. ATM england is showing superb fight, new coach some new players making team good. and i really wish may they continue their current awesome performance.

England, a team just knocked out of the World Cup in group stages has just beaten the World Cup finalists, what a turn around. People can eat humble pies now who were doubting England's resurgence.

This thread will be bumped so many times as the victories will pile up

2019 WC

Think of some titles:

SA vs Eng #Who Will Choke First? :amla

Pak vs Eng #Mauka Mauka :afridi

Ind vs Eng #CT Revenge :srt

Aus vs Eng #JoeRootCenturyConfirmed :don

The thread is based on fiction.

Fact: England has a 1-3 record against BD in the last four matches. One of them were at Bristol. :)

India will win the 2019 world cup, Dhoni will retire :msd, kohli will become the new God of cricket :sachin, nathu singh will emerge as the new pace sensation from the subcontinent, ashwin will cement his legacy as the best spinner in the world, pakistan will face another customary defeat at the hands of India, angry pak fans will call for afridi to retire, afridi will apologize to the nation and then continue to play as a cricketer and make a comeback in test cricket :afridi Imran will cry about all the talent in the country while blaming nawaz sharif, for the demise of pak cricket

I will never consider any team favorite for the real world cup other than Australia. They have won five more than Eng, SA and NZ combined. This so called favorites for 2019 world cup England team lost the odi series at home to a second choice Australian side as well as losing to an average South African team.

And then carrom_ball will wake up from his sleep :msd

CT 2017 will confirm if this brilliant English team has what it takes to win a championship.

I had marked England as the dark horses of the World T20, but I was surprised that they made the finals and were four good deliveries away from winning it.

Keeping in their performance in mind, I back them to win either the Champions Trophy next year or the World Cup in 2019.

Both of the tournaments are in England, and they seem really hungry to win ICC trophies now.

They have all the basis covered but lack a strike pacer. However in England, Broad and Finn can lead the charge.

Let see how they do at the champions trophy 1st there bowling is a bit weak but there batting is strong and in modern day cricket it's ur batting that will win u games.

Given Broad, Wood and Finn were all out of the recent wt20 due to the lack of game time/injury I expect the pave attack shall be strengthened a fair bit by 2017.

We saw how good Broad and Finn were in WC 15.So not sure whether they'll make a difference.Willey is already much better than both in LOIs.

Broad has been unconvincing in Odis the other two are good but I don't know how England will fit them in as they like having a long batting line up they deffo should pick Finn he has a habit of getting wickets

Wiley
Finn
Rashid
Wood

With overs coming in from Moeen and Stokes

Perhaps the best bowling side in the tourney considering they're playing in their home conditions, heck I would drop Moeen or rashid depending on their form and if the pitch doesn't support spin at all.

Very very strong contenders.

#HopeNotOut

It's not a bad attack but I believe u can still score runs off that attack, Australia with starc Cummins pattison coulter Nile nd hazelwood with zampa developing have a better attack.

I agree they are contenders no doubt but that attack u can still score runs off. Ali nd rashid will be targeted stokes can be erratic at times if the ball isn't swinging Wiley will be vulnerable wood nd Finn should deffo play there bounce nd pace will cause problems

Looking very likely at the moment.

Don't see them not making the final, but you can't discount the possibility of a choke because of the pressure of playing at home and the fact that for the first time, England will be amongst the hot favorites to go all the way.

Obviously having players of South African origin doesn't help.

Nonetheless, given the fact that Pakistan has absolutely no chance, I would really like to see England win the World Cup in 2019. It is time for a new champion.

Yeah well, two players of South African origin are largely responsible for England's only ever win in a major limited over tournament...

Plus I don't think the English need any help with choking. :euro2016 :najam

English cricket team always had more steel than their football counterparts, but yes English have had their choke moments in cricket as well.

They are a dangerous Limited Overs team but I can gurantee they wont win the CT 2017 or 2019 world cup

They are a dangerous LOI side. They will be the favourites for both tournaments. The champions trophy will give us a good indication of how they will peform at the world cup. They need to be able to deal with the pressure of being favourites, and honestly I believe England prefer to be the underdogs.

Another note Hales, Vince, stokes, backing of Butler, are things that I wanted to happen because I thought they would improve England. As a UK resident I see quite a bit of domestic cricket in this country so glad these boys have done well although I'm not a big fan of Stokes the other I don't have any problems with. I'm a big fan of Butler but he needs to improve his temperament. He will be key in both of these events.

Weak bowling and not enough steel will see them exit the WC at the semi-final stage, at best.

Pakistan vs South Africa final at Lord's, in 2019. :amir :amla :ab :wahab

If rashid keeps improving and a wicket taking fast bowler in their disposal surely they are making to the semi finals

Eng have Jos Butler in their middle order. So they are not going to win a WC any time soon.

They say this every time, be it in cricket or football or tennis. they're (British) the worst hype machine I think (I think Andy Murray is yet to win a Grand Slam. But whenever he reaches final they hypes him like nobody is better than him. Was remembering a preview of match with Rafa (not sure is SF or Final), they put 10 reason why should Murray win against Rafa. but in the end Rafa win it quiet comfortably).

Murray has won 2 Grand Slams.

But he is Scottish.... :yk

One thing I forgot to add is I hope they don't win it. I respect the way they play and there improvement but never ever been a fan of the England team.

That's why I mentions British :afridi.
yeah did realise that he has two Grand Slam:kakmal

It's the English who are chokers; Scottish Murray just isn't good enough to beat Djokovic 8/10 times, while you can see Wales in the semi-finals of the Euros...

Well, Pakistan making the final is certainly more believable than South Africa making the final.

Yes, Buttler needs add more steel to his game, he doesn't want to go the de Villiers route in ODIs.

He needs to win silverware for England. No better chance than now, England have the next two tournaments at home.

He has already cost them the 2013 Champions Trophy.

Amla to score century but Pakistan to win on back of Amir fifer!

Let them beat a good ODI team first. Not convinced they're better than AUS and India yet
