This is very disappointing. Now was the time for England to come to our help because that is what our small cricket fraternity usually does. It’s unfortunate and disappointing because this may have a domino affect and other teams may follow suit.
NZ have pulled out because of a bizarre security threat that wasn’t shared with our security agencies who are the most battle-hardened security forces in the world and now England have decided to pull out.
Whatever sacrifices we made last season to help England during Covid appear to have gone to waste so we have learnt a harsh lesson.
We have no clue regarding NZ, as quoting security is a very easy option to wriggle out of a tour and information wasn’t shared so that is why so many of us were frustrated with the way NZC withdrew from the tour.
Here ECB have quoted player fatigue and living in quarantine but the affect is that Pakistan needed England to tour just to show a bit of solidarity. It’s like the Asian bloc not playing against England for example because that it what we feel has happened here. NZ, England and maybe next in line will be Australia. So the Western bloc has decided not to tour Pakistan because of the perceived security threat and they are not willing to share it. It’s bizarre and disappointing and it’s a harsh lesson for us.
I’ve told the players for Pakistan now to become the best team in the world so no such excuses are presented by visiting teams because when the best team is in play then obviously everyone wants to play that team and we need to grow our cricket economy.
When it comes to PSL all these English players are quite happy to travel to Pakistan but as a group suddenly they are spooked by the situation and they are not willing to share it as well. It’s extremely frustrating.
We are a resilient cricket nation, we will survive, we will find a way which we always tend to do. This could be a mini road block for us but it’s just we feel cheated. We will raise our voice at the ICC. Hopefully this is just a blip and we will recover and we will fight back and survive.
