BENGALURU: The launch of a Kannada book based on the life of former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan was called off following protests by some Hindu outfits here.

The book titled 'Imran Khan Ondu Jeevanta Danta Kathe' (Imran Khan a living legend), authored by Sudhakar S B, was supposed to be launched on Thursday evening by the retired High Court Judge Justice H N Nagamohan Das.

However, members of the Hindu outfits lodged a complaint with Minister for Kannada and Culture, V Sunil Kumar and the police requesting them to halt the book launch, which glorified the former prime minister of an enemy nation. Subsequently, the organisers of the event were asked to cancel it.

"Yes, the book launch has been canceled. The director asked us to cancel it," Sudhakar told PTI. Addressing reporters, Hindu Janajagruthi Samithi spokesperson Mohan Gowda recalled that the Pulwama attack that left 43 Indian soldiers dead, took place during the tenure of Imran Khan. As the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Khan was also involved in promoting terrorism in Kashmir and carrying out anti-India campaign, he alleged.

"Glorifying the prime minister of an enemy nation is an anti-national act. We also demand action against those who organised the event and the book should be banned," Gowda said.

Did these extremists also demand no talks with PDM leadership. What is their view of Modi holding hands with Nawaz?

So scared of a book lol.

These are common in India across religious outfits. Remember a book launch of Taslima Nasreen disrupted and atatcked by muslim outfits few years back.

Pak doesn't care at all. It is funny seeing Indian Hindutva fascists picking a fight with their own people over the smallest of matters. I guarantee you they'd make a racket even if a book on Shahrukh Khan or Dilp Kumar was being launched. The real reason is Imran Khan is a Pakistani Muslim not Pulwama. Lagge raho:yk!

Who will read Imran Khan's book other than a few elites? This should have been a nonstory to begin with.

You have to ask yourself then, why wasn't it a non-story? Obviously the hindutvas fear that many Indians would believe in the legendary status of Imran Khan, and that must be a problem for some reason.

Anything Pakistan must be banned according to rightwing nuts. It has to go through the approval process of BJP top wigs to get any traction in India.

Imran Khan is a legend as a cricketer, this is a book about a cricket legend. Why do hindutvas feel so afraid of a Pakistani cricketer that they have to ban a book about his greatness in the sport?

Was her book launch cancelled?

Obviously. She was physically attacked and the organisers shielded her recieving the blows. Fortunately she was unhurt. It was mainly teh supporters of MIM chief Asududdin Owaisi who attacked.

I think those pakora smelling idiots did a good job actually.

The book now got more publicity, fame and demand, than the author actually would've thought.

Does Imran Khans book abuse the Hindu faith?

Poor comparison but Thanks for confirming you agree with Hindu extremists to remove this book.

I as an Indian agree that no enemy of India, especially the one hell bent on using Terror as a policy against India should have any of his book launched in India.

Very small minded approach. It's not his book, it's a book about a cricket legend who happens to be Pakistani. Imagine if cricket message boards about Pakistan made a decision that no enemy of Pakistan should be allowed to comment, especially coming from a country which has sponsored terror on Pakistan soil.

You as an Indian need to look in the broken mirror you have.

No people in Asia, have been terrorists as much as Indian troops in Kashmir.

Ban the book but keep coming on here. :))
