In our latest exclusive interview, Saj is joined by Bazid Khan, a former Pakistani batter and current seasoned commentator.

In this conversation, Bazid talked about Mohammad Rizwan's fantastic start to his captaincy tenure as Pakistan emerged triumphant in an ODI series in Australia after a gap of 22 years.

He also shed light on Gary Kirsten's premature resignation as Pakistan's white-ball coach, Pakistan's fantastic outing in Australia, and the role of Pakistan's pace battery in the historic series victory. Most importantly, he also addressed the Champions Trophy situation regarding India's alleged refusal to travel to Pakistan and much more.

I completely agree with Bazid's thoughts on Gary Kirsten.

It's indeed disappointing to see such a renowned coach leave so quickly; it doesn't reflect well on Pakistan cricket.

These recent successes will not provide stability or consistency instead, complete overhaul and permanent changes in the system are needed to achieve consistency.

Couldn't agree any more, current triumphs are just flash in the pan unless we really end our major ICC trophy droughts

Bazid Khan speaking during a TV show:

“For T20s, the new coach or management defines the strategy, on day 1, on how to play and there's no time to say, 'Let's do it after this series or the next series.' If you start now, you have to begin the process now, and results will come in two years. If you delay the process, the results will also be delayed.”

“It's not about overnight changes but about defining a style of play for T20. You can't suddenly change the style of play. You need to define the template for T20 cricket, establish the style of play, and stick to it. If a player doesn't fit into this style, they should be replaced. You can't say, ‘This is the first series, or this is the second series, and I'll do it later.’ If you want to make a change, you need to start now so that you can see results in two years. You can't keep saying, ‘this is the first series, let's give them a chance.’”

“You need to define that 'I want you to play this way and even if you get out playing this way then I am responsible for keeping you in the team because you are following the team requirements. If you play in a way that doesn't align with the team's requirements, even if you perform well individually then you have no place in the team because the team is not moving in the direction it needs to.’ So, you need to start from now. Because results take time, but if you don't start the process, those results won't come.”
