Cannot discard his bowling in tests so quickly

Can totally see Fahim and Shadab permanently play as allrounders. Really like the additions. Gives the team a lot of breathing space to play around with batsmen and bowlers.

Do you think Fahim is a test option in Asia?

That's a tricky thing for all teams. In Asia requirements are very different. You have to play two spinners, one should be Shadab, that gives you allrounder as well. Bowlers have to be strong in reverse swing, for now Wahab/Hasan are those guys. I am hoping for Shaheen to develop in next two years. Amir is not an automatic choice in Asian test, the way he is going, he will be out of test in a year or two. Two fast bowlers are enough as long as we play in UAE. Other places you have to look at conditions. He can be third seamer, when needed with two spinners... It lot depends upon, how his batting matures as well.

Problem with Test Cricket is you need different team for different conditions. Unless you are tier 1 bowler or batsman or allrounder, you are not going to get selected every game. Shadab is close to all format, all conditions allrounder, For Faheem, its hard in Asia, he is no Strokes tier player, but Shadab can be number one spinner, with his batting and fielding, could be tier1.

Faheem needs more chances with the bat. His bowling has improved because he is being allowed to bowl more. Confident the same will happen with his batting if given chances. In domestic cricket he should bat 5 or 6 in list a cricket. In first class cricket he should bat 6 or 7.

Was impressed with this innings. Came in when England looked like they were getting back into yet he played some really good shots.

Faheem and Shadab looks like would be premenant fixture, they give you lot of flexibility with both balling and batting. I can see even in Asia, we will drop Amir or Hasan and get in Yasir. Two spinners are more than enough.

Playing two allrounders gives you lot of depth. They both are more than decent batsmen, well bowling is also pretty good. Faheem was keeping pressure on them not releasing. And the whole reason England did not bowl first day was because of Shadab

If it was not Pakistan they would have opted to bowl first
