Fakhar Zaman's innings (13 off 31) vs Bangladesh in the World Cup - What was he thinking?

Tbh, Bangladesh bowling was mediocre. Fakhar has been awful for the most part, we just choose to remember the few innings where he has been extra-ordinary.
 
He should’ve just gambled and tried his luck which seems to be on his side a lot. Hit or miss guy.
 
i think this guy has been found out ... he needs to adapt a lot if he needs to revive his career , it seems
 
I am officially off the band-wagon. This innings (although in a futile match) broke my heart.
 
He was surviving the first 10 overs. Its the same old GOLDEN strategy of Pakistan cricket.

Sarfraz should be ashamed of himself. Pathetic Captain with a negative mindset. They are aiming for 300 only.

Even caution is part of the plan, shouldn't Imam be the one holding one end with Fakhar focusing on shot making? Why the role reversal?
 
I was a big fan but i m done with this guy... he needs to play aggressive otherwise he is dusted... i just dont understand why he cant play his natural game.
 
People really need to think, how many good innings did he actually play? Like 6 including the champions trophy innings.

Hes been playing again minows for the past 2 years. Any good team with analytics wouldve found him out in a few matches.
 
I hope this stops the talk of Indian and Kiwi batsmen not showing intent. Pakistan's own batsmen not showing any intent here
 
Of the top 3, it was Fakhar's duty to keep the run rate high. Imam and Babar are not the kind of players who can hit at 10-15 RPO. Yet he's left them in more trouble.

They tried this same strategy many times. Fakhar asked to take time in the middle but whenever he has failed to get going his inning has looked atrocious. The strategy for Fakhar to start attacking from ball 1 would not have worked due to his lack of form.
 
As my per limited knowledge in cricket is he relies more than hand-eye co-ordination with less foot work (like sehwag, MS dhoni etc.,)

Hand-eye co-ordination is good technique but if the ball starts moving he will in trouble but unfortunately in this WC his timing is not that great as well.

Then they should have changed the batting order. Replaced Imam with Hafeez or someone else who is more fluent. This is just setting yourself up for a failure.
 
Fakhar should have been dropped today for Asif. Poor selection to go with the out of form opener again.
 
He is not thinking and lacking confidence, that is the point! This entire team has been plagued by backroom antics which has effected the team mentality since they landed in the UK for the England ODI series!
 
He's been found out. He was lucky in the first place when Bumrah bowled that fateful no-ball but his luck ran out..

Yes to do that you need to be brave. Our Captain doesn't have the spine to make bold decisions this is why Hafeez has been batting at no.4.

How times change...Fakhar Zaman and Hassan Ali were the top players in Champions Trophy 2017 and two years later, now they aren't doing very well.
 
So called bhanja imam is much better than fakhar. Sharjeel was better than fakhar
 
I think Pakistan decided beforehand they are not going for the target, unless by since chance they find themselves 60 in 10 with no wickets. Asked Fakhar to weather the storm and then unleash. He is currently not able to weather the storm.
 
Wow people are harsh. It wasn't a good innings, but at least it's helped give them a great foundation now, where's they're currently 111/1 after 24 overs. A really solid start. 280 could be a winning score.
 
Listen if they gonna tuk tuk against these spinners they gonna get out eventually. Smash them for sixes atleast
 
I sometimes wonder why no coach in domestic cricket ever tried to work on Fakhar's technique vs spin. Its embarrassing to watch the opener of the team struggling to even connect the ball vs any decent spinner. He gets to bad positions and looks like can get out any ball.
 
I am convinced he has mental issues. When on the crease, most of the time, he is spaced out, confused, and clueless. He does not seem to comprehend what he has to do at the crease. He seems lost.
 
That technique is something else. Literally looks like a tailender when he gets out. Seems like a simple change in tactics by opposition team gives him a nervous breakdown. Needs to adjust a lot of things begore he bats again as a opener. There is a reason why opening the batting is so crucial.
 
Fakhar Zaman has completly regressed. Needs to be forced to iron out his issues by being dropped
 
Indian vs England the Indian batters shut shop when score was beyond reach practically but not theoretically. The word INTENT was thrown around.

Where is that INTENT...now not shown by Pakistan batters to get 450 which theoretically is possible.
 
After flopping so far, he wanted a big score in this game to keep his place. He's become the sixless Chris Gayle.
 
Where is the intent by the mighty Pakistani batsmen. It is just boring to watch

More of a lack of talent. He can score in a few zones and is a dud for the most part. Teams know how to bowl at him. He doesn't even rotate which makes it easier.
 
He is one of the major reasons why we are in this position. If you look at all the top teams their openers scored freely and go their teams off to a good start. Look at the bottom teams and you'll see all of their openers failed miserably.
 
Time for Fakhar to be sent back to domestic. Give Abid Ali a fair go.

Enough of minnow bashing. International cricket exposure and riches have got to his HEAD and in last 2 years he has not improved his game one bit.



It’s time to work on Sharjeel and Ahsan’s fitness at NCA and bring back Shan Masood who scored a fifty in his last Odi against Australia at a healthy SR.
 
His only claim to be fame was the century in the Champions Trophy final 2 years ago. Since the he's done next to nothing. I don't see why this guy is even opening for us. If he has no intention of wanting to improve himself, he needs to be booted.
 
He looks to be terrible against spin which is weird because he destroyed Ashwin 2 years back. Some sort of lack of ability it seemed rather than effort.
 
This is just pathetic. I hope and pray people at the top looking at it. Fakhar's fairy tale ends here. HE is a slogger with a brave heart. That pays off 3/10 times when he is in good touch else he is not a batsmen. At this point he will play the way he always does you can't change his technique.

We really need to get rid of these following individual if there is really a revamp in our international cricket.

But let me tell you what will happen with hafeez and Malik especially. PCB will arrange a Zimbabwe series in UAE where MAlik will be asked to play his last series. He will score tons there and retire same goes with Hafeez.
 
the real question is who in managment gave him the directive to play slow?

who is giving the openers the directive to play slow?
