Now that Misbah and Younis are retired, Pak needs a wall to hold the demolition. Fawad values his wicket and can hold the wicket.
Test avg of 41
First Class avg of 56
List A avg of 48

Why he is not playing already?

I guess because we have asad "technique" shafiq, the sobers reincarnated

Shafiq might take a series or two to get dropped completely if fails. In the meantime pak should give fawad atleast a whole series.

And yes I am in "technique is over rated" group.

We really need this guy. We've left him to rot in domestics for a good decade now but Fawad is everything this cricket team needs frankly speaking. He can play calmly and save the team from such collapses. The current batsmen we have are basically poor man's Fawad Alam's. They try and play slowly but can't even do that to avoid such a collapse and can't even rotate strike either. At least Fawad is good in one facet. Also his bowling and agile fielding brings a lot to the table.

Pak test team badly need him. Heck I would make him captain instead of sarfraz the hot head.

I am one of his most ardent supporters. I have been supporting his recall since long. There were many occasions when this guy should have been recalled, but never was he given a chance. So many who were well below him in the pecking order suddenly leapfrogged him for various reasons. I will be the most happy if this guy get a consistent run in the team but after so much injustices with him, I have sort of lost hope in the system.

You can check the below link where Fawad was expansively discussed

The best FC batsman and about time he gets picked.

Should be the no. 1 name in the middle order.

He may or may not be the solution but you can't argue he hasn't been hard done by so should be first in the queue post MisYou.

All the other contenders for misbah and younis spot beside him are good but fawad already have exposure of international cricket hence he can easily take pressure and perform in pressure.

There is very obviously some factor that is holding back Fawad's selection other than his cricketing ability. I just wish the selectors would be more transparent with his selection. I believe I remember seeing a post that the management did cite his discipline as one of the major factors. Whatever it is, hopefully Fawad can work on that "politicking" part of his game where he needs to say the right things to the right people, as to not rub shoulders with anyone he shouldn't be. Once he has made a name for himself, he can voice himself more freely.

Very obviously a natural replacement for Misbah, both in Tests & even ODIs.

Fawad needs to prove he is talented by smacking a couple of boundaries, throwing his wicket away and then tweeting something about being "aggressive".

Instead Fawad has wasted his entire career by scoring 10,000 first class runs at an average of 56. What the hell does that prove?

Another disaster : Ahmed, Sami, Azhar, Babar, Fawad, Asad - god forbid, by kids will boo at me to watch Test batting. Baseball will have a better run rate.

Came twentieth in the 2016 QEA batting records.

It's five years too late for Fawad Alam.

Just imagine if you had him in the current squad. In the last test he could have played instead of Shafiq or Azam. Give variety by being a left hander. Bowled 10-15 overs in an innings to give rest to the main bowlers. But alas! This is Pakistan cricket!

Unfortunately he might be past his peak now. Hope he gets a chance and does well but the fact that his entire prime was wasted on domestics without giving him a fair shot while "talents" like Shehzad and Khurram and Shan Masood got multiple opportunities is disgusting. Things like this is why Pakistan cricket is a dumpster fire.

He is only 32 years old and one of the most fitted player in pak. Its time for him to play for pak for at least 5 years.

Being a left handed batsman, he will provide a much needed requirement in the squad. Amin and haris can also be included in place of shafiq and shehzad.

Fawad's exclusion remains a puzzle. Left-handed bat, can bowl a bit (so important considering we have a four-man attack), decent fielder. Shame really. One suspects politics behind it.

I know it's frustrating that he hasn't gotten an extended run in the test team. Ever since his hundred against SL, I've been just as vocal about including him in the test team as anyone else here on PP. The fact that he got dropped despite hitting a hundred hints that there are other factors at play besides just his cricketing ability. That's all I was trying to allude to. If that wasn't the case, there is just no way that he would be kept away from the test side! Not only that, but it's even more fishy when senior players made statements that he's not good enough, despite him showing that he can score runs in Tests & ODIs at the international level. Then he gets an ODI or two in Bangladesh and then dropped again.

He has to work on the non-cricket part of affairs and ensure that he's in good running with the selectors so that he gets an extended run!

Fawad, Haris and Umar Amin all three should be in the 11 and all three can bowl...Knowing INZI

I expect the following

  1. Shehzad
  2. Azhar
  3. Babar
  4. Hafeez
  5. Shafiq
  6. Umar Akmal
  7. Sarfraz
  8. Shadab
  9. Amir
  10. Yasir
  11. Abbas

Reserves:

  1. Usman salahuddin
  2. Wahab riaz
  3. Hasan ali
  4. Asghar
  5. Fakhar zaman/Asif Zakir

INZI rocks:narine:lara

Pakistan definitely need a lefty and I don't want to see that Lefty in the form of Shan Masood, it should rather be Fawad
