First report on Mohammad Asif's performances at the NCA

You Need an " Eye "

Mohammad Asif has been busy "making fools of the best batsmen in the country" in the nets at the NCA in Lahore.

Nothing has changed in last 19 months. The Fish at 35 is swimming as usual.

Bowlers like Walsh, Hadlee & Asif can play Test cricket until age 40 with Ease.

Asif is a Must for Pakistan Test tour of South Africa & England. Can make history along with Amir, Hasan & Waqas Ahmed on these tours.

Now He has taken 4 fivefers in 5 FC matches including a Tenfer. On a 3rd innings wicket with 35 years old legs Asif has taken 6-23.

Haters, Angels and Hypocrites keep hating. My Boy (35 only) is Ruling.

Really enjoy your posts.

One more asif masterclass would be a dream come true

I believe the PCB has made it clear that they are not interested in him. There is no lobbying or talk about him at all.

He may be corrupt but there is no denying he is a good bowler. If he finishes the season off well and can be in the top 5 wicket-takers, there is a possibility of a call up for him for the England series.

He has no more than 5% chance of playing international cricket again.

He really should be brought back for the tour of England and South Africa next year. Anderson and Steyn are around the same age and they are still playing for their teams. No reason why Asif can't play tests for Pakistan again.

His chances of playing in PSL are basically zero because of the drug smuggling scandal. So the only way he can force his way into contention is via FC cricket. He was never a good enough ODI bowler to begin with.

His foolishness of yesteryears is coming back to bite him.

The higher ups don't seem interested. The best thing for him is to try a coaching career. He could pass on his thought process while bowling.

It goes to show what might have been, he could have eneed up as an all time great but alas it's not to be.

Yes and to add to that, Asif is not as quick as them as he is more of a swing + line/length bowler so his body won't be placed under as much stress as Steyn and Anderson.

One reason is that unlike Steyn and Anderson, Asif hasn't played against a Test quality lineup since 2010. Taking him to ENG and SA could end up being a failed gamble that would look really bad.

Then it'd be ex-convict who had already escaped life in prison abroad for possessing opium, who was also caught for doping before cheating and prison being given a chance of younger bowlers.

In my dreams, Asif comes back and plays as long as Misbah and continues to deceive bowlers, but I think it's more likely Kamran Akmal will be opening the batting with Shan Masood in England next year.
