What's new

First T20I between England and Pakistan washed out after England were 131/6

Wasim is such a bad commentator. Why do they keep bringing him on? I wish Bazid Khan would work with public speakers and get his tempo and cadence better. He's much better at talking about cricket nuance and seems more knowledgeable about domestic cricket too. (I'm not saying he's a better cricketer than Wasim Akram or that he knows more, he is just better at talking about it).

Yes a lot of South Indians don't speak Hindi. Most West, East Indians also speak more than 2 languages. In fact my family speaks 5 languages, everyone is fluent in all 5, but we end up speaking a lot in English. I guess it is the effect of education in English medium.

Pakistani Urdu is beautiful to hear. My parents were huge fans of the Urdu spoken in the serials from Pakistan.

Indians talk to each other in English lol.... I found it weird, but understandable since southern states don't speak Hindi.

Majority of Pakistanis can understand/converse in Urdu so its the default language.

This!

People still think England deservedly won the world cup? :))

First time I learned a trophy decided on number of boundaries. Only England could have won a world cup due to some shody rule like that

Excellent captaincy. PP experts told us "Babar won't be a good captain". Just needs to improve his communication. Tactics will come.

Was Babar trying to get some quick overs from spinners before rain could conclude first innings here?
With DLS 126/5-6 in 16 is better than 121/5 in 15.

Hopefully rain won't ruin the game, seems a slowish track as Banton is on TV currently saying so should be a good run chase.

Hes already done a really really fine job except one blunder where he put Shadab on early. If this is the case then another superb decision by him.

Good come back yet again by Shadab Khan. He is so good if he stays focused. Sometimes gets too careless.

Hopefully will show his batting potential as well in this series.

Wouldn't it better if every innings Shadab doesn't have to launch a "come back"

Yeah, beating Pakistan is more important than winning the World Cup.

Pakistan beating the hell out of sides in CT17 was fluke.England scraping to finals via short boundries and then winning in the worst possible way is considered the best thing by you. Such hypocrisy.

Can only happen if you introduce competition. We need to give other spinning bowling all rounders a chance.

I know they invented the game and all, but if this keeps up cricket in England should be banned.

The only good thing about cricket in England is the world class commentary that you hardly see in a different part of the world (barring NZ).

I would also have bowled out Imad Wasim earlier and used Haris Rauf mainly during the last 10 overs for his reverse swing. His slingy action gets him some movement with the older ball.

Haris needs a good bowling coach badly otherwise he would be another Sami/Wahab.

Rain will stop in an hour. If they can dry the outfield quickly then a truncated game is possible.

Those late wickets will really hurt England in their DL score

England's white ball batting depth is out of this world. Roy, Bairstow, Buttler, Root, Morgan, Stokes, Banton, Billings, Moeen, Vince, Hales, Malan. How the hell do you get into that team as a batsman.

*sigh, I swear this rain.

If there was a montage of this English summer of cricket then half of it would be a puddle of water, the super soaker and Rob Key and Nick Knight.

Annoying weather in England.

This is practically the wet season why are they playing so much cricket?

:))) topspin check this out, good one lmao

:))

I’m happy to see him get a rest after a tiring spell of slower balls at 130kph. I’m sure he’ll be grunting in his sleep as well.

Rain is falling really heavily now. Looking bleak

I’m actually surprised the England has still managed to hold on to their fan base even after years of having weather that’s just incompatible with cricket. To top it off, they managed a pool of players that went on to win them a World Cup. It’s like Pakistan winning a FIFA World Cup.

Right I think it's time to make alternative plans for your Friday evening...

Haris needs a good bowling coach badly otherwise he would be another Sami/Wahab.

A bowling coach can't make a bowler smarter. You need a certain basic intelligence ala Amir, Asif, Akhtar etc.

The initiative will have to come from Haris himself. Good yorkers, bouncers can only get you so far. You need to understand a batsman's psyche to get him out. Something Sami, Wahab, Rana, Gul and some others could not.

It was a sure win for Pakistan unless they were going to have a big collapse.

A few thoughts on Pakistan, Rob Key?

"I have been so impressed with Pakistan throughout the Test series and here in this T20. I think they are a really emerging team. If Azhar Ali had captained better on that last day of the first Test they might have been 1-0 up and there are young players coming through with a class act in Babar Azam. They have the makings of a very good team and on their day can beat anyone."

Come on man, we were literally the number 1 T20I team just two series ago. How on earth are we emerging in t20Is

It’s a loop.

It hurts me so much to see Pakistan being called emerging.

We are not minnows. :( thanks Misbah and co. for ruining our legacy.

Not music to Mamoon's ears. Rob will also get added by hm to the long list Pakistan cheerleaders. So like Nasser his opinions would not matter.

Yeah. You have a point.

But, I think many of the top teams are currently transitioning (South Africa, SL, Pakistan etc.).

True. In a few years time I think cricket will become a lot more competitive as the new talent pool of each and every country is very promising.

"The DLS-adjusted target for a 16-over chase would be 144... but at this rate we'll be happy to get a five-over thrash ..." This is turning to be a tragic end..

With Pakistan it stay the same with the oldies

We need to be back on by 9.19pm for a 5-over chase, and a target of 56...

If it becomes a five over game we should open with Fakhar and Imad!

Why can't they play a bit longer instead of cutting overs. We have to be flexible

Pakistan has no chance in a short match. Even if we had 20 wickets it would be no use, we simply do not have the batsmen who can come in and start smashing against an attack of any quality.
