I think this is the best recipe to build a strong team, with a foreign coach as a head coach (who has vision and some determination to wok hard)

And rotate ex players as consultants on need basis

SL has been doing well off late (after al that issues with players revolt against contracts, half of players unavailable because of COVID); they were able to stand a second string team as their main team;

Still early days, but with SL entering in the groups of WI, Eng, SA
they now have much better chance to progress to Semis (with all the different type of spinners they have)

Your suggest is fine but the problem is jealousy.

"How come he gets so much money?"

And before you know it, the foreign coach is out!

Only if PCB had this policy that if a person was with the PCB in some capacity he becomes ineligible to reapply for next 3 years; we could have weeded out lots of Bombastic and non performing ex cricketers
In last 2 years; I understand one thing, our ex cricketers are the worst

Tell me one ex Pakistani player who could go through this arrangement without any jealousy creeping in.

Forget pakistani coaches being jealous, what about pakistani players not getting along with or even understanding foreign coaches or their style. Players such as afridi, razzaq, younis, malik, k akmal, u akmal were involved in oath taking sagas to tank the team and change management/ leadership groups.

It may not work all the time. There must be a reason PCB fired Micky and Azhar Mahmood.

Foreign coaches on rotational basis

I really liked this idea of foreign coaches working with our pool of players for 3-6 months. Here is my wishlist ;)

1) All rounders :
Imad, Faheem, Shadab, Md. Wasim, Nawaz, etc.
options : Klusner, Jayasurya, Kallis, etc.

2) Fast Bowlers :
Shaheen, Hasan, Harris, Dahani, Hasnain, Musa, Naseem, etc.
options : Brett Lee, Philander, Donald, Pollock, etc.
(Please no desi coaches : Waqar, Wasim, and others had their infinite turns already. And they bring lot of politics with them)

3) Spinners :
Qadir, Nouman, Yasir, etc.
Saqlain himself can work with them

4) Batters :
Babar, Haider, Fakhar, Shafique, Azhar, Asad, Sharjeel, etc.
options : Hayden, Greame Smith, Sangakkara, Ponting, Collingwood, etc.

5) Keepers

Rizwan, Sarfaraz, Rohail
options : Gilchrist, Sangakkara, Mccullum
* I see Mcculum in Rizwan batting; may be previous PSL effect..

I would go down the route of having a local "head coach" with foreign consultants coming in for certain series. We would save a lot of money and we can tailor the consultants based on the conditions we are going to face I.e. draft hayden back in before an aus series etc. Saqlain is doing a decent enough job, I'm sure mushy could to and soon we will see some more local talent come through via psl etc if given the chance.

Agreed. I think this is a more sustainable model than having a foreign Head Coach and local consultants
