What's new

From 1 to 10, what is your excitement level for the India vs Pakistan match?

Normally 8 or 9 - that includes bilaterals.

This time about 4.

Anyone saying they're not excited about this game are just kidding themselves. I'm sure everyone is counting down the minutes before the game starts.

This is what real matches are like. Even though Pakistan didn't show the fight but the build up and excitement before this match was pretty goods. Roads were empty today. You can never imagine something like this in Pyjama League matches. And we had people here who were calling champions trophy meaningless.

Feeling even sadder that we got shamed in front of a billion people watching. At least we could have fought. We were downright abysmal. Do any Indians know any Pakistan players apart from Malik, Hafeez, Amir, and Wahab?

None of my friends who are casuals knew any Pakistan players name apart from amir and Shoaib Malik.. One friend called IMAD as Eye-Mad when I made her realise it's a Pakistani Muslim name pronounced as Imaad not eye-mad..

I think you shouldn't care about those fans who pretend to not know their arch rivals team players name especially someone like Babar Azam. They are not cricket fans. No matter how hard we try our people are obsessed with each other.

Many years ago India and Pakistan played in a World Cup match in South Africa and I was as excited for that as I have ever been for any sporting event. Today I was more interested in the tennis at RG, not just the men's matches but the women's matches.

That is how boring and un-inspiring this Pakistani side has become.

Thankfully I'm now the other side of 30 so defeats to India mean diddly squat to me. In fact I'm not even the slightest bit hurt. I watched the match today almost like I would watch an Argentina vs Brazil match in football, hoping for some entertaiing cricket but not too bothered with the result.

It is hard to imagine the roads of densely populated cities like Lahore and Karachi being empty, but as you are there in person you will know best.

I was quite excited by the match, and stayed awake at night for the start (I live in the US). Then it rained and I slept for a couple of hours. Planning to get a one month subscription to cover the rest of the tournament.
