We saw in bgt, now we're seeing vs england too that other bowlers cannot bowl with consistent line and length and are more or less toothless. Seems like india is heading back to zaheer khan era, where he was sole weapon in sena conditions but even then they had irfan pathan and sreesanth.

After Shami and ishant, india are yet to find lethal bowlers partnering bumrah.

Their is no future, India will be a crappie bowling test team once Bumrah is finished.

They have never produced a single good bowler besides shami and Bumrah. The rest are all water boys in test cricket

We smashed australia in australia ( so called at fortress) with rookie like Natrajan, Saini , Thakur ,Siraj and Sundar . :kp

Definitely there is dip in the performance of Indian Pacers bar Bumrah ( only in Test cricket) .

Who knows what might happen by the time he retires. Maybe we'll find another fantastic fast bowler by then. Then again, maybe not.

India is producing more t20 bowlers than first class bowlers, is it due to pitches in first class suitable for spinners.

What happened to Shivam Mavi, Nagarkoti etc.?
I thought they were hyped to be India's future pacemen
Might as well pick Arshdeep now and try to force Mayank Yadav to play fc and India A games

Both Bumrah and Shami don't have more than 3-4 years of test cricket left in them at best.

Latter half of Kohli's career - what will India do when Kohli is gone.
Early into Jaiswal's career - seems overhyped, let's wait for 10 years.

Pakistanis need to learn the Indian concept of staying and living in the present. I mean it is culturally there, but apparently all things Indian are taboo.

England would have scored 800 + against that attack on this wicket.

Please stop getting carried away.
highly doubt that, 550 at most, eng tend to bazball their wickets away even on flat pitches
hasan mehmud, nahid rana, shoriful is not far off a bumrah-less indian seam attack

I understand Pakistanis might rate them highly thanks to them wrecking you 2-0 at your own home but sorry...that's not even close to a bumrah less Indian attack by any stretch of the imagination.

I dont think so. But I wasnt comparing the current indian attack to bangladesh's attack anyway.
I mentioned the Bangladesh's attack as that their seamers are pretty young
India dont have any young upcoming seamer their age.
Siraj and Thakur above 30 and Prasidh Akashdeep are nearing 30. India dont have any prospect.

India must play Arshdeep but can't risk throwing him in the deep end when Bumrah is not there. Play him in the match with Bumrah, where he can operate with some guidance and help so he is ready for when Bumrah needs two match rest.

Gambhir reveals Bumrah plan for remaining England Tests

An update from the India camp on the ongoing workload plan for star quick Jasprit Bumrah.

India coach Gautam Gambhir has revealed there are no plans to change the workload of star pacer Jasprit Bumrah across the remainder of the ongoing Test series against England.

It was initially planned that Bumrah would only play three of the five Tests during this ICC World Test Championship series as he manages his back issue and India's narrow five-wicket loss to England in the series opener has done nothing to change this, according to Gambhir.

"I think for us to manage Bumrah's workload is more important because there's a lot of cricket going forward and we know that what he brings to the table as well," Gambhir said.

"So before he came on this tour, it was already decided that he's going to play three Test matches, but let's see how his body turns up. But we haven't decided which two other Test matches he's going to play."

With Bumrah going without a wicket, England managed to successfully chase down the large victory target of 371 to win the crucial opening Test in Headingley on Tuesday on the back of a superb century from opener Ben Duckett.

Seamers Prasidh Krishna and Shardul Thakur collected a pair of wickets each in England's chase, with the more experienced trio of Mohammed Siraj, Ravindra Jadeja and Bumrah all struggling to make much of an impact as the hosts drew first blood in the series.

"This bowling attack has one bowler with five Tests under his belt, one has four, one has played two and one hasn't yet debuted," Gambhir said in defence of his bowling group.

"We will have to give them time.

"Earlier, we used to have four fast bowlers in the squad with an experience of more than 40 Tests. It doesn't make such a big impact in one-day or T20 matches, but when you go to Australia, England or South Africa for Tests, experience matters. These are early days.

"If we start judging our bowlers after every Test, how will be develop a bowling attack? Outside Bumrah and (Mohammad) Siraj, we don't have that much experience, but they have quality, which is why they are in this dressing room. But we have got to keep backing them because it's not about one tour. It's about building a fast-bowler battery that can serve India for long time in Test cricket."

England captain Ben Stokes was thrilled with the performance by his side during the opening Test, with the skipper paying special tribute to Zak Crawley and Duckett for their opening partnership of 188 on the final day that helped setup the win.

"It was unbelievable," Stokes said post-match.

"Unless you're involved in it, (it's hard to understand) the pressure of the fourth innings, going out there. Opening the batting is hard enough, especially in England. So that partnership that Zak and Ben got us off to was just incredible.

"Those two complement each other so well. Obviously, Ducky got the big score that contributed towards us winning this game. But I thought the way that Zak was able to stay composed, and stay in the moment, and sense that Ducky was getting off to the flyer (was crucial)."

The second Test between England and India commences in Birmingham on July 2.

India have to play Arshdeep & Kuldeep in away test matches irrespective of the conditions as both are lefties. At home they will win with Sundar & Axar on turning tracks.

Bumrah won't play forever, Siraj has also lost his mojo.

Gambhir's favouritism isn't helping either. Picking Harshit Rana over Khamboj & Mukesh Kumar who did well in 'A' matches.

Indian fast bowlers are better than what it used to be with bowlers like Prasad , mohanty , Kuruvilla etc.
These pitches are flat , here most teams bowlers get spanked.

As far as spinners are concerned , India is obsessed in playing white ball spinners who can bat , they no longer encouraging spinners who are genuine and who can flight the ball and get wickets on true pitches.

Jasprit Bumrah’s dominance vs Indian pacers in Test cricket since 2024

Despite bowling significantly fewer overs (410.4 vs 701.4), Bumrah has taken nearly as many wickets (78 vs 84) as all other Indian pacers combined. His bowling average (15.8), economy (3.0), and strike rate (31.5) are far superior, underlining his exceptional efficiency and impact. Additionally, his six five-wicket hauls compared to just one by others further emphasizes his match-winning ability

The fact that Bumrah has no problem playing an entire IPL but is happy to miss 2 tests in Eng is disappointing.

Big blunder not to take Shami to India unless the Indian selectors were absolutely certain that Shami didn't have the fitness for 4 day cricket. His IPL form wasn't great but he should have been backed for his experience and quality.

Under Gambhir India has lost Ashwin, Rohit, Kohli and Shami was not picked. Definately not a great man manager unlike Shastri or Dravid.
