Gay Muslim wedding: Groom receives acid attack threats

Jahed Choudhury, 24, married Sean Rogan at Walsall Register Office and shared his story on YouTube.

However, he told the Victoria Derbyshire Show he had been threatened online and in the street.

But the couple said they had also received messages of support and would continue to share their story.

Since their ceremony Mr Choudhury said the couple had received death threats online and abuse on the streets.
"The worst [messages] say 'the next time I see you in the streets, I'm going to throw acid in your face'.

"Even if I walk down the streets, I have people spitting on me and calling me pig - all the nasty stuff. I just keep walking."



The couple said they had not yet reported the incident to police and were considering whether to do so.

Mr Choudhury said he had also received "amazing" support from his online followers, including people who said the couple had inspired them to come out.

"I've been brought up Muslim and the Koran mentions you cannot be gay and Muslim. But this is how I have chosen to live my life. I will never get rid of my faith."

I read about this story yesterday, he's a Bangladeshi making a lot of public claims that he is the first Muslim gay man to get married. I'm not even sure if that's true. In any case, we'll never know if his claims about receiving threats of acid attacks are true, but with the rise of acid attacks over the last couple of weeks, it's not going to do him any harm publicity wise.

This! These gays are so prominent and control the fashion, music and film industry in the west, and yet they cry victim when someone just expresses disapproval with their life choice. We can't even criticize their life style without being labelled as homophobic. And now they want entry in our temples and mosques too. Why can't they just create a religion for gays and join it, instead of stomping on our faith and places of worship?

Well at a guess I would suggest perhaps he didn't take them as seriously as he did the publicity opportunity. I don't know if he can write, but there could be a book deal in it down the line. If I was gay I might consider it myself. Sadly I'm not so I'll have to think up some other angle.

Moreover, this thread shows the hypocrisy of many desis, who claim all sort of freedoms and protection under "Minority rights" every time they're in a western nation, while never missing a chance to gang up other significant minorities like LGBTQ, women etc when it comes their rights.

Either you go full hitler or fight for the rights of "all minorities". Beacause unlike the medieval laws and cultures where we come from, those states atleast have "equal rights for all" written into their constitutions and are ready to enforce them.

That is not logical, it is a complex equivalence, and therefore irrational.

The rational mind looks at the 200 species of animals which exhibit gay behaviour, sees that it is more common in the more advanced species such as apes, dolphins and humans and asks the question whether there is some sort of evolutionary advantage in gay behaviour for animals such as humans which live in social groups.

Agree 100%, although I would add that if you take these threats seriously you should report them to the police so they can take action. The actual acid attacks that have taken place recently have been against Muslims and I don't think it was because they were gay.
