Labour and Snp have hurt each other. Should have done some seat adjustments with each other. This is why I like Aus system a bit better where you have to get 50% to get elected so if you don't people's 2nd preference is taken into account. Most voters from Labour and SNP would have the other party as their 2nd choice.

So it's official, we have a hung Parliament. Looks like the DUP will help the Tories form a government but May has got to go.
Unfortunately that means we might end up with Boris has PM which is even worse but fortunately the Tory/DUP lead will be so small that it will be hard for them to govern effectively.
Fingers crossed, this is the death knell for a hard Brexit but we shall see. What a night, I might go to bed now.

Why does everyone vote for the cons they haven't made the country and everything is really rubbish like The NHS,SCHOOLS and what this party is going to do is bring people to the streets.

He is disliked by the majority if not all of the Jewish people because of his stance in Isreal and his overall outlook on the Middle East and we all know who controls the press.

Kensington result too close to call after two recounts. That seat has NEVER gone Red ! Tony Blair couldn't do it but Jeremy Corbyn could.

Finally Sikhs making inroads into British politics,looks like Canada has helped the cause.
There was a lot of comparison among Sikhs about the difference in Canada and British politics.
From an Indian citizen POV would say this is good,less support for Khalistan and worrying about issues over there,being apolitical is a requirement.

Yes I think it is partly to do with this. However, imho it is also largely due to Labour's economic and social policies.

Won't happen.
For Sinn Fein to take their seats in Parliament, each MP has to take an Oath of Allegiance to the Queen. Sinn Fein won't do that. That's why they don't take their seats. And don't get paid their MP's salaries. They just need to attend once, take the Oath, and leave, and not return until winning the seat again at the next election, in order to start having their salaries paid, plus benefits and MP's allowances (for secretaries etc). But they don't.
But we have seen the contempt and disdain across the political spectrum for the Hong Kong disqualification of MPs who take their oath in a disrespectful way.
Corbyn gets on well with Sinn Fein. I actually would never say never.
I agree people will not continue to vote to make themselves poorer.
However I wouldn't totally discount the Brexit factor. The results show an 8% swing from Conservatives to Labour in those seats that voted remain in last year’s referendum. In seats that voted leave there was a 1% swing from Labour to the Conservatives.
Corbyn's stance on the EU was widely lambasted as vague, but it turns out to have been quite shrewd. He was careful not to alienate Remainers or Leavers.

Really good. It's a shame Kuldip Sahota did not win in Telford against an awful Conservative candidate. I think he will regret focusing his campaign on the local hospital and not including Corbyn on his election literature. We had disaffected Telford activists joining us in Wolverhampton to campaign with us rather than their own constituency
Also in Wolverhampton some great campaigning from sikhs on behalf of Eleanor Smith against Sikh millionaire Paul Uppal. Sikh community rejected 'racial' politics. Credit to them.

Yea a lot of people in Scotland are against IndyRef 2.
Last time we were told its a once in a generation event and majority of the country voted "No" and even though now Brexit is happening, a lot of people do not see that as a legitimate excuse to have a second referendum.
SNP have got themselves in an awkward position here. They have been successful for years on the fact that they want an independent Scotland. If they stop promoting that message, they will lose a huge chunk of voters. However, at the same time, for many other voters, since we have already voted to stay with the UK, negotiating good terms in Brexit and being a part of the UK is way more important right now, rather than worrying about an independent Scotland, which puts them off the SNP who seem very independence orientated.
It's a catch 22 for SNP. If the stop raving about independence - the lose a lot of voters. If they keep raving about independence - they lose a lot of voters.
On top of that you add the fact that now a lot of Labour's policies are in line with SNP policies, the votes are being split and I know a lot of people who voted for SNP in the last election, however, under Jeremy Corbyn's Labour, have voted for them this time.
Looks like even though the Tories have lost their majority in this snap election, it is the SNP who have taken the biggest hit and lost the most seats.

While I almost wish they would partake in Westminster it wont happen. They have stated that they were elected on the basis that the electorate knew they wouldnt take their seats therefore they won't.
Not the end og the world this tbh. Now the UK can't ignore the vicious backwardsness of the DUP plus any fallback from the government will fall at the DUP's feet.
Natinalist parties missed a trick though. DUP and UUP agreed a pact not to compete in some constituencies, If SF and SDLP had done the same they could have won two constituencies they eventually lost.
This is going to be highly unstable.
As you've doubtless noticed, I stand alone on this forum as a very centrist One Nation Conservative, who feels more affinity for the Lib Dems, Labour and Greens than for the John Redwood-style right of my own party.
People like me consider the DUP to be intolerant bigots, and to be honest I find them more offensive than Sinn Fein.
We won't tolerate any closeness to their party. I'd rather be in opposition.

I can assure you, there is no British Trump.
The closest would be Farage, but he has an IQ of around 130 compared with Trump's 85-90.
Corbyn is a thoughtful, decent man, although he's on the opposite side to me. He has a lot in common with Barack Obama.
Theresa May is a rather boring and uncharismatic woman, but she is a very decent human being.

Just walk up to the podium and say "Well that didn't go very well, did it?"
Humour could work. Denial has just ensured that the party will overthrow her now.

So after all the hype and nonsense over Corbyn and IRA, May has just entered government with a party who regularly get pictured with loyalist paramilitaries, last week openly received support by a paramilitary group in the election, the same paramilitaries who just last week assassinated someone in a carp park in front of his 3 year old son.
This coalition will do well t survive 3 months. Any half decent politician in the UK will eat the DUP alive. More ammunition for them than they could possibly hope for.

Frankly gobsmacking.
What we now have is two badly divided main parties, heading for another GE by year-end.
My own party lost Nick Clegg but got Sir Vince and Jo Swinson back. The latter could be the next leader, perhaps by the autumn. We have to have a rethink as the second referendum thing did not work on the doorsteps.
Cross about Zac G getting back in so quick in Richmond. Thought that might happen. Labour lost their deposit there in December but reduced Mrs Olney's vote this time.

It's extraordinary after their data triumph in 2015.
Labour also got it wrong in some ways in not identifying key battle places because they underestimated their support there eg Broxtowe they came within a whisker of ousting the awful, odious Anna Soubry but failed to send activists & resources as they didn't think they had a chance.
Also hopefully they will regain the seats they lost to Cons in an Autumn election but it is worrying that these eg Mansfield,Stoke,Middlesborough,Walsall went blue.

Personally speaking in the long term this will only damage the DUP. Inevitable controversy, media gaffs, Brexit likely gonna negatively impact on the UK which falls on their feet, the sheer bigotry they stand for will now get a global audience.
In the short term obviously bad for SF and Nationalists but they aint stupid, they know all they have to do is wait and watch the inevitable implosion and capitalise.

Seriously though it's no laughing matter now I've heard the DUP kill little catholic children and what not :/ anyhow we're going to head for a new GE and Labour will get their majority then hopefully; by voting for them and a hung parliament we've prevented political discourse from shifting to the right in the long term so this short term alliance between DUP and Tory skum will be short lived mate
