Kallis wasn't really a great ODI batsmen. Klusenar is probably the best batsmen SA ever had with AB being the strongest contender.

Its criminal to name Sangkara as the best ODI batsman for SL. Jayasuriya by a very big margin is their best ODI player. Jayasuriya is the man who started this power hitting and started this new trend.

actually he was. he was the most consistent performer with bat. he was not a hard hitter like klusner but he as good enough. he was not caable to play a seventy or eighty ball hundred or played an innings like gibbs. that doesn't mean he was not great. most of the time he scored run and contribute to win. he played some magnificent innings too. he won 32 man of the match for his country.
he sould give up odi cricket in 2011.
you know perception plays greater role than actual result in ratings player.

de Silva was a better ODI bat than Sanga in my opinion. The guy had a SR better than Sanga's in spite of playing from 1984 to around 2003.

ab fan, south afica's major achievement is winning the champions trophy in 1998. kallis was the major contributor.
kallis scored 113 of 100 in semifinal against srilanka. south africa's first chases of avobe 300 runs kallis scored 139 of 142 against west indies in 2004. lara had described the best innings he ever saw.
