Greatest ODI Team - A Draft [Rules #19]

Can outsiders discuss/suggest a player before he has been picked ?

dont suggest picks please but you can eaisly join in and dissect picks

also can we do draft trades or player trades?

actually this sounds like a good idea. I will make an amendment at the end of the first round, add in a rule where everyone is allowed 1 or 2 trades.

May be this could be a two week competition in which a certain number of people take part in and the winner advances to the next competition. This is a great start dildildalwalla.

thanks

I kinda want to keep it a simple draft for now but if this works out well, we can try at the end and set up a tournament

dildildalwalla

I'll go for Waqar Younis and Shane Bond as my first picks.. let's start with some fire in the team :steyn:faf

Wow!! One of the best finishers not picked yet! LOL..

Bhai.. one request. If we can update the rosters after each pick, that would make this process easy..

Yes, I will update it at the end of this round and make regular updates next round

Got it chief.

thanks

Javed Miandad and Martin Guptill

damn, quick on the draw

Time for your picks now.

yep

so my picks are:

Pakistan - Shahid Adridi, great striker if inconsistent but top notch bowler and a solid fielder

New Zealand - Ross Taylor, one of the best when he got going and slots in nicely at 4 (as long as other picks go to plan lol)

Amendments to the rules

As Major suggested, I think it would be good to have some trades.

Each player is allowed 2 trades...and that's it, for all six rounds. You can trade any player in any of these rounds. Just mention me in your post when you make a trade.

Since I'm first, I am going to pick:

Australia - Ricky Ponting, posisbly the format's best batsman, a good captain and first ballot HOFer

SL - Sanath Jayasuriya, gives me so many options, striking opener, tricky little bowler with 300+ wickets, the left arm angle...such a utility player

My team looks like

Thanks Major! Was a tough call, i was a big fan of fleming and astle as a kid. Head over heart in the inaugural pp draft! Something you failed to do 😉

Surprised no one picked Razzaq or Asif. Razzaq at his prime was an exceptional ODI player.

dildildalwalla

My picks - Kumar Sangakkara, 3 time world cup champion Glenn McGrath

My team thus so far --

Very good picks by captain crook. I believe everyone playing would have wanted to have an early turn from Australia. Plenty of greats people want to get their hands on.

Thank you Fahdi.. nothing like having a steady threatening fast bowler, consistent keeper batsman, world class finisher and a power hitter.. I still have some gaps to fill but won't reveal them :P

Gaps are obvious honestly. You don't have any openers or spinners.

Also need a strike bowler in the team.

You are underestimating Starc. He is already acknowledged as amongst the best in this format ever.

Just look at his stats and his bowling he's beast in the format.
sirf new ha isli bacha na samjho

Bhai.. I still remember the shiver in teams when they face Lee, McGrath in their hey days. Starc is good, but not at the level of those two guys yet.

lets see what the final 11s will be :faf

dammit, lost one player who i had my eyes set on. Lets hope i dont lose the second.

Wase, surprised no one went for both spinners straight up. Warne and Murli.

dildildalwalla

is the trade between other users? or trade like i drop Misbah and pick Zaheer abbas?

I guess the trade is between the users, not sure you can pick from the players who were not picked earlier
dildildalwalla please clarify..

That it should be. Trade should be between two managers.

This way we will have an 11th team of 'Dropped' Players. Which will be equally competitive.

No, I'm not going to do that just so that everything is clear and fair because there could be some back room politiking going on lol So I'll have the roder as each round starts.

Btween users. Imagine a prmeier league style transfer window lol

you are correct

Surprised no one picked Razzaq or Asif. Razzaq at his prime was an exceptional ODI player.

Asif, nope.

Razzak I would have picked if someone had taken Afridi :razzaq

You're right. Forgot about Zaheer Abbas. He has to be the biggest miss of the first round.

I dunno, Abbas may be a dated ODI player.

and silent ischemia you're up

Picks so far

me - Ponting and Jayasuriya

shady - Gilly and Murali

captain crook - Sanga and McGrath

So next up we have
silent ischemia and then shafkath

Just so y'all know calling first dibs on Finchy and Thissara.

Sorry on being a bit late. Just coming from an overnight call.
My picks are SK Warne and Aravinda DeSilva.

Really wanted de silva or sanga. My pick is chaminda vaas. 400 odi wickets. Left armer, very smart, swing bowler Works nicely with the pace and fire of shoaib akhtar at the other end in my line up.

My aussie pick is Michael Bevan! A fantastic finisher. Great odi finishers are a rare breed, bevan took his team over the line countless times.
