Gujarat Titans Beat Rajasthan Royals To Win Maiden IPL Title in 2022

WOW, WOW, WOW! :msd

EL Classico as they say, Dhoni finishes it off in style! A T20 match between two teams that never fail to impress.

MI 155/7 (20)

CSK 156/7 (20)

Chennai Super Kings won by 3 wkts

-- Mumbai Indians become the first side to lose their first seven matches in an IPL season.
-- DD in 2013 and RCB in 2019 started off with six defeats each.
-- This is the 11th instance of a side losing seven matches in a row in IPL but the first time a team that had previously won the IPL title endured the ignominy.

MS Dhoni scored the last 16 runs needed off 4 balls to ensure MI's winless streak continues as CSK registered a thrilling three-wicket victory.

Dhoni and Pretorius struck big blows when CSK required 42 runs off the last three overs and while the latter departed, Dhoni has no problems in finishing off the game in style with a boundary.

Unadkat was the unlucky bowler to concede the 16 off the last over as MI succumbed to their seventh loss of IPL 2022 season. Chasing 156 to win, Daniel Sams struck big blows but Robin Uthappa and Ambati Rayudu batted sensibly to take the game deep where Dhoni picked up and provided the momentum.

Batting first, Tilak Varma hit a stupendous half-century to power MI's score past the 150-run mark vs CSK. Despite losing early wickets, MI posted 155/7 in 20 overs at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Mumbai and will look to defend the score and register their first win.

After being put into bat by Ravindra Jadeja, MI were jolted by four early wickets by Mukesh Choudhary and Mitchell Santner combined. Mukesh was in particular lethal with the new ball and removed Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan in the first over of the match itself.

However, Tilak made good use of the dropped chances and played a gutsy knock. Both teams made two changes each. Rohit Sharma handed the cap to Riley Meredith and Hrithik Shokeen while Moeen and Jordan made way for Pretorius and Santner for CSK.

Congrats DHONI183, great night for you...

Absolutely! I'm still in celebration mood and my heart is still beating at quite a high rate even some time after the match.... I actually dropped the stylus pen of my phone in excitement the moment Dhoni hit the last ball for four! :)))

16 off four he got, my biggest cricket fantasy fulfilled by MS even at this age. You guys just cannot understand what these tense nerve-wracking moments mean to me when he's batting out there during such situations. I never thought that I'll get to relive this drama ever again, given his age and also form of late. Never. Although it must be said that during the ongoing IPL, he has shown glimpses of his old self, occasionally at least, but a finish like this was still least expected by all his fans, I suppose. Also amongst his last-ball finishes, this goes amongst the unique ones, based on the area that he hit the last boundary towards; towards fine-legish area. The ball was well expected and picked by him, one must admit. A good innings.

Ah` these Chennai versus Mumbai matches..... They never fail to provide nail-biting matches. Nothing matches the matches between them and of course Lahore and Karachi in the PSL. My two most favourite rivalries in non-international cricket. Still though, it might still be too late for Chennai to make a comeback in the tournament, sadly.

Could well be RCB’s year this. They have fought well so far.

Just like LQ their Captaincy change has work well for them.

Even in these heavily political tense times in Pakistan, especially given Imran Khan`s Jalsa yesterday in Lahore which was going on exactly at that time, Dhoni`s name was trending on Twitter in Pakistan. :msd

RR 222/2 (20)

DC 207/8 (20)

Rajasthan Royals won by 15 runs

Rajasthan Royals edged past Delhi Capitals by 15 runs in a match that sparked a huge no-ball controversy in the last over.

Needing 36 runs off the last two overs, pacer Prasidh Krishna bowled a wicket maiden and left a mountain to climb for the DC batter in the last over.

However, Rovman Powell hit three huge sixes in the first three balls as DC needed further 18 runs off the last three. However, skipper Rishabh Pant made a controversial call to call back the batters regarding the height of the third ball which Powell faced.

The controversy was soon out aside as RR prevailed in the last three balls to register a crucial win. Chasing 223 runs for a win, DC openers Prithvi Shaw and David Warner started well. Shaw and Pant stitched on a decent partnership before RR struck again to remove Shaw. Then, DC's hopes were dealt a big blow again as skipper Rishabh Pant departed for 44 runs. The match hung in the balance and went to the wire which RR snatched in the end.

Earlier, Jos Buttler hit his third IPL century of the season as he piled on the misery on the DC bowlers with effortless stroke play to help RR post 222/2 in 20 overs. Buttler hit 9 sixes and 9 fours in his explosive innings and along with Devdutt Padikkal (54 runs) added 155 runs for the first wickets. After Buttler's wicket (116), skipper Sanju Samson gave a strong finish to the innings. The RR batter dominated the DC bowlers throughout and took them to the cleaners after being asked to bat first by Delhi Capitals skipper Rishabh Pant at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Friday in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022.

There´s a sense of so much joy and delight seeing Jos Buttler absolutely clobber the ball to all parts of the stadium when he´s on song, and thankfully for Rajasthan, the song seems to be an unending one this season. He has almost single-handedly brought the team to the third spot on the table. What a smashing innings it was yesterday! That one six which went for 110 metres, I think, was an absolute monster hit. Take a bow to the man and his abilities!
