Umesh Yadav pace is up as well, consistently hitting 140 kph. For a veteran, that's very good.

These stats further signifies that the chances of getting out is very high in the backend of the game because you look to smack every ball and not bother about getting out which results in lower averages.

In contrast, at the top, teams have the cushion of taking their time, getting themselves in and then start scoring aggressively. This means that we should not be setting same standards for our top order and lower middle order batsman. For lower middle order batsman, it is always the strike rate that should be the most important factor while for top order, it is the combination of runs, averages and strike rate all that matters.

Is this thread relatively quiet because this is a Pakistani forum or because people have IPL fatigue?

Seems incredible that it already feels like it's been going on forever and there's still weeks left to go.

How does BCCI ensure absolutely zero coverage of IPL outside of its broadcasters? You will not find even one second video of the IPL on youtube or on the internet in general. How is that possible? I've seen somebody post a video on Youtube and it got removed literally within two minutes.

I wanted to watch the Livingstone 117m six and I have no outlet to watch that apart from waiting to watch a rerun on television.

Restricting exposure is counterproductive in the long run. YouTube is basically a free marketing tool that BCCI refuses to utilize. The UFC has perfectly used youtube to market itself and the results are there for everyone to see.

There are algorithms that automatically take down any IPL content they detect on youtube.

I felt the opposite.. probably due to more players and teams and for once CSK MI not going to playoffs.

Also helps that couple of Indian bowlers are clocking good speed.

Waking up to see how much I can everyday .

Royal Challengers Bangalore on Wednesday defeated Chennai Super Kings by 13 runs in Match 49 of IPL 2022 at the MCA Stadium in Pune. Chasing a target of 174, CSK were restricted to 160 for eight in 20 overs. Devon Conway top-scored for CSK with a fine 56 while Moeen Ali also played a quickfire knock of 34.

For RCB, Harshal Patel took three wickets while Glenn Maxwell also picked up a couple. Earlier, a quickfire 42 from Mahipal Lomror, followed by a 26-run cameo from Dinesh Karthik powered RCB to a total of 173 for eight.

After being put into bat first, RCB got off to flying start in the powerplay as openers Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis added 62 runs for the first wicket. Moeen Ali gave CSK the breakthrough, removing Faf in the eighth over. Glenn Maxwell and Kohli followed him as well as CSK took charge of the proceedings. Lomror and Rajat Patidar then steadied RCB before Karthik gave them a strong finish.

Delhi Capitals won by 21 runs

Brilliant unbeaten half-centuries by David Warner and Rovman Powell were backed by clinical performances from Delhi Capitals bowlers as they defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 21 runs here at Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday. This is DC's 5th win in IPL 2022 while SRH fell to their 5th loss of the season, both teams have played 10 games and now have 10 points each. Rishabh Pant-led team have now moved to 5th on the points table, as they have better NRR (Net Run Rate) in comparison to SRH.

DC opener Warner played a gritty knock of 92 which was laced with 12 fours and three sixes. The Aussie was well accompanied by Powell who smashed six maximums and three fours in his innings of 67 runs. The duo stitched an unbeaten 122-run stand to power Delhi Capitals to a massive total of 207 for 3 in 20 overs.

In reply, SRH batters never looked up to the mark as they were able to make just 186/8 in the assigned 20 overs, falling 21 runs short of the target. Nicholas Pooran and Aiden Markram were the only stand out batters among SRH as they played innings of 62 and 42 respectively. For Delhi, Khaleel Ahmed bagged three wickets while Shradul Thakur took two wickets. Anrich Nortje, Mitchell Marsh, and Kuldeep Yadav scalped one wicket each.

Chasing 208, Khaleel Ahmed and Anrich Nortje struck in the powerplay for DC to send back Abhishek Sharma and SRH skipper Kane Williamson back into the pavilion. The score of Men in Orange read 35/2 after the first six overs.

In the 7th over, Mitchell Marsh also joined the wicket-taking party as he removed Rahul Tripathi. Aiden Markram and Nicholas Pooran then tried to steady the ship for SRH. The duo stitched a quick 50-run stand.

The 60-run partnership off 35 balls came to an end in the 13th over after Khaleel dismissed dangerous-looking Markram.

In the 15th over Shardul Thakur got the better of Shashank Singh. With wickets falling at one end, the West Indian cricketer Powell continued his charge against DC bowlers. In the 17th over, Powell brought up his back-to-back fifty in the IPL 2022 before Khaleel Ahmed bagged his third wicket of the match in form of Sean Abbott.

Nicholas Pooran got out in the 18th over as SRH's hopes of winning the contest went up in the smoke. The last over saw Kuldeep Yadav removing Kartik Tyagi as SRH ended at 186/8.

Earlier, put to bat first, Delhi Capitals got off a poor start, as the opener Mandeep Singh was dismissed by pacer Bhubaneshwar Kumar after edging an outside off-stump delivery, which landed in the hands of the wicketkeeper Nicholas Pooran. The first over turned out to be a wicket maiden.

Debutant Sean Abbott was handed the ball in the second over. He was welcomed by compatriots David Warner and Mitchell Marsh with two great boundaries. Marsh survived an LBW appeal at the end of the over. Kumar's second over also proved to be cheap, as he gave away only one run.

Pace sensation Umran Malik's first over, the fourth of the innings, proved to be really expensive. Warner got the best of the pacer, hitting him for two fours and a six in an over in which Malik gave away 21 runs, shifting the momentum to DC and pushing their rebuilding efforts to the next level. Marsh started off the next over with a bang, producing a four, before being caught and bowled by Abbott for 10 at team's score of 37.

The dismissal brought captain Pant to the crease. Kartik Tyagi, making his debut for the franchise, came to deliver the sixth over. He was welcomed with two fours by Warner, who was looking in good touch. At the end of the powerplay, DC had posted a solid 50 runs on the board, though at the loss of two wickets, with Warner (31*) and Pant (2*) at the crease.

Spin was introduced to the attack in the seventh over, with SRH debutant Shreyas Gopal. Warner was looking good while Pant struggled to go big initially. With three consecutive sixes and a four in Gopal's ninth over, the southpaw ended his drought of big hits. The bowler ended up with the last laugh though as he clean bowled Pant for 26 off 16 at the end of his over, putting an end to a solid 48-run stand between him and Warner.

At the end of 10 overs, the Capitals stood at 91 at the loss of three wickets, with Warner (47*) and Powell (1*) standing. Gopal started off the second half of the innings, hit by Powell for a six over wide long-off. Soon Warner also brought his half-century, his fourth this season with a pull shot over midwicket. Powell and Warner carried on with targeting the SRH attack, with consistent strike rotation and big hits at regular intervals. Powell survived a drop attempt in the 14th over. Warner brought the 50-run stand between him and Powell with a four through the deep extra cover region on the final ball of the over.

At the beginning of the 15th over, Powell survived another catch attempt by Kane Williamson at mid-off, which he capitalised well by hitting Bhubaneshwar Kumar for a six in the 16th over. The batter eventually found his groove and hit Abbott for two sixes and a four in the 17th over. Warner also continued his good touch with the bat with consistent hits and strike rotation. His four off Kumar's fourth ball of 19th over also brought an explosive 100 run partnership off just 59 balls between the duo.

Powell also brought his maiden half-century of IPL with a six off Malik's first ball of the final over. DC finished off the innings with a bang, with 70 runs in the final five overs. The final score for the Capitals read 207/3.

Brief Scores: Delhi Capitals 207/3 (David Warner 92*, Rovman Powell 67*, Kumar 1/25) vs Sunrisers Hyderabad 186/8 (Nicholas Pooran 62, Aiden Markram 42; Khaleel Ahmed 3/30).

Lol Kieron Pollard is so pathetically bad, embarrassing waste of money for any team to sign this fat selfish cricketer.

One of the best quotes from twitter;

“ Had ordered a pizza and went for a walk.
Upon returning, asked for it and my family replied "sorry, it's Kieron Pollard"
I wondered what that was supposed to mean, and then it striked me that the pizza was finished. ”

Actually Warner should thanks SRH team management for reviving his old self.. after his ban he was bit sedate and second fiddle to other bat.. but this year (and last year t20wc} he's more attacking upfront..

And to me it still surprise me how people think
he's mediocre and should retire from cricket Ab Fan..

Warner is excellent short format batsman but in longer format away from home, he has failed continuously away from home whether it is India, England, Sri Lanka or Pakistan. He had one good test series in South Africa but thankfully in that series, he often batted under blue sky.

He has failed to replicate his short format performance in longer format and hence I won't call him an all format great. We never know but had he played for a team like England or South Africa, he would probably have a Jos Buttler or Bairstow level test career only.

Rajasthan Royals comfortably beat Punjab Kings by six wickets in their IPL match here on Saturday. Batting first, Jonny Bairstow was back among runs with a fine half-century as Punjab Kings put up a challenging 189 for 5. Bairstow scored 56 off 40 balls with eight fours and a six. Jitesh Sharma (38 not out off 18 balls) and Liam Livingstone (22 off 14 balls) also played nice little cameos at the back-end to spruce up the total. For the Royals, Yuzvendra Chahal was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3 for 28 in 4 overs.

In reply, the Royals scored the required runs in 19.4 overs with Yashasvi Jaiswal making 68 off 41 balls.

Arshdeep Singh was the best bowler with 2/29 in 4 overs.

Brief Scores: Punjab Kings: 189 for 5 in 20 overs (Jonny Bairstow 56, Jitesh Sharma 38 not out; Yuzvendra Chahal 3/28).

The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) moved to the top of the points table in the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 after defeating Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 75 runs on Saturday at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune.

A half-century from Quinton de Kock along with Avesh Khan’s three-wicket haul powered LSG to a comprehensive victory by 75 runs as they successfully defended their total of 176.

Chasing 177, KKR lost the wicket of Baba Indrajith in the first over. Mohsin Khan scalped the wicket of the opener and bowled a wicket—maiden to kick off the innings.

Dushmantha Chameera scalped the second wicket of the innings after KKR skipper Shreyas Iyer was caught at square-leg in the 4th over.

Troubles increased further for KKR as Jason Holder dismissed Aaron Finch, who was caught by Quinton de Kock in the 6th over. KKR were 25-3 at the end of the powerplay.

Nitish Rana was the next batter to depart after the left-handed batter was castled by Avesh Khan in the 7thover.

Andre Russell announced his arrival to the crease by going all guns blazing against the LSG bowling attack. The KKR all-rounder hammered two fours and 4 massive sixes as LSG were 64-4 at the halfway mark.

Ravi Bishnoi brought an end to Rinku Singh’s stay at the crease after the batter was caught at deep mid-wicket. Sunil Narine and Andre Russell collectively added two sixes and a four.

However, Avesh Khan brought LSG back into the game by scalping two wickets in an over including the all-important breakthrough of Russell.

Jason Holder then scalped two wickets on consecutive deliveries to dismiss Narine and Tim Southee while Harshit Rana was run-out in the same over. KKR were all out for 101 and LSG won by 75 runs.

Earlier, LSG, who were put in to bat first, made one change – Avesh Khan replaced K Gowtham in the eleven.

Skipper KL Rahul was run-out without facing a delivery, thanks to a brilliant direct-hit from opposition skipper Shreyas Iyer. The pressure of an early wicket didn’t affect LSG as Quinton de Kock and Deepak Hooda stitched a quick fifty-run partnership. de Kock hammered the first six of the innings in the third over, bowled by Southee.

Hooda smashed his first maximum off Narine’s bowling. 17 runs came off the 6th over and LSG were 66-1 at the end of powerplay after de Kock smacked consecutive sixes. The opener notched his half-century in the 7th over before he was caught at long-off by Shivam Mavi, off Narine’s bowling.

Krunal Pandya joined Hooda at the crease. Pandya and Hooda added a four each against Harshit Rana and LSG were 90-2 at the halfway stage. The 100 was up for LSG after Hooda cleared the ropes against Anukul Roy.

Andre Russell put an end to the 34-run partnership after KKR skipper Shreyas Iyer grabbed Hooda’s catch. Russell then dismissed Krunal Pandya after the batter was caught at deep-point.

Marcus Stoinis whacked three sixes in a row before the all-rounder holed out to the deep in the penultimate over, which produced 30 runs. Jason Holder clubbed two sixes before he was caught by Rinku Singh in the final over as LSG posted 176-7 in the first innings.

Brief Scores: Lucknow Super Giants 176/7 (Quinton de Kock 50, Deepak Hooda 41; Andre Russell 2-22) beat Kolkata Knight Riders 101 all out (Andre Russell 45, Sunil Narine 22; Avesh Khan 3-19) by 75 runs.

Mohsin Khan has been amazing for LSG this season. He should be in the scheme of things for Indian team. A kind of bowler that India is lacking, left arm pacer who can swing the new ball and takes wicket upfront.

All this talk about Umran who is just a glorified Wahab/Sami.

Yet no talk of Tyagi who looks very impressive.

First time seeing him bowl. Reminds me of a young Ishant. Has the height, variations, good pace and slight movement which is enough.

Spinner Wanindu Hasaranga picked up a five-wicket haul after skipper Faf du Plessis' impactful half-century as Royal Challengers recorded a 67-run victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad to boost their play-off hopes in IPL 2022 in Mumbai on Sunday. Opting to bat on a slow surface, du Plessis led from the front with a 50-ball 73 not out, while Dinesh Karthik (eight-ball 30 not out) provided the late flourish as RCB overcame an anxious start to post 192/3. In response, Sunrisers Hyderabad were skittled out for 125 to crash to their fourth loss on the trot as Hasaranga stymied their chase with figures of 4-1-18-5.

The win also avenged their shocking nine-wicket loss to Hyderabad in the first leg at the Brabourne where Bangalore had collapsed to 68 allout.

Making amend for a sloppy outing on the field, Hasaranga cleverly used his wrong ones and derailed their chase in the middle overs with wickets of the hardhitting Nicholas Pooran and Jagadeesha Suchith in successive overs.

The Lankan then ended his spell in style with a double-wicket maiden, dismissing Shashank Singh and Umran Malik in successive deliveries to virtually seal it for Bangalore.

With this, he became the second bowler after Yuzvendra Chahal to get past the 20-wicket mark in the IPL. Hasaranga is now one wicket shy of current Purple Cap holder Chahal's tally of 22.

Hyderabad No 3 Rahul Tripathi made a fine 58 to keep them in the hunt but Josh Hazlewood (2/17) dismissed him and followed it up with the wicket of Kartik Tyagi next ball.

For Bangalore, it was their second win in a row, coming on the back of a hattrick of defeats as they firmed up their place inside top-four.

Likewise Bangalore, Hyderabad too had a jittery start and went on to lose two wickets in the first over in their tall chase of 193.

Like Kohli, Williamson also went for a golden duck in a rare instance -- only third in IPL -- that a wicket fell on the first ball of both the innings.

Earlier, Du Plessis slammed eight boundaries and two sixes en route to his third fifty this season and seized the initiative after he lost his opening partner Virat Kohli.

The South African veteran along with Rajat Patidar (48 in 38 balls; 4x4, 2x6) laid a solid foundation with a 105-run second wicket partnership off 73 balls.

But Hyderabad bowlers led by spinner Jagadeesha Suchith (2/30) and Bhuvneshwar Kumar (0/34) slowed things a bit in the middle overs before Dinesh Karthik gave a last-over flourish (25 runs) to prop up the total.

Making full use of a reprieve by Rahul Tripathi in the third ball of the final over, the Indian experienced wicketkeeper-batter went on to make a quickfire eight-ball 30 not out.

He smashed four sixes, three of them coming in succession followed by a boundary in the last over against Afghanistan debutant Fazalhaq Farooqi, en route to his entertaining cameo.

Hyderabad had their solitary moment of glory, the very first ball of the game when Kohli (0) got out for a third golden duck this season, sixth overall in IPL. This was also his second golden duck against the same team season.

Enduring his worst-ever IPL -- 216 runs from 12 innings at 19.6 -- Kohli had one soft dismissal off a Suchith half volley drifting onto his pads, and the star batter managed to flick it straight to Williamson at short midwicket.

It was all about RCB thereafter as Du Plessis and the young Patidar seized the momentum with their counter-attacking approach.

Hyderabad young speed merchant Umran Malik bowled back of the length on what was a slow pitch and the batters had all the time on offer to take him to cleaners in his first over that yielded 20 runs.

Well-settled Patidar however missed his fifty by two runs becoming Suchith's second victim, miscuing one in the 13th over.

Chennai Super Kings might have had a "perfect game" against Delhi Capitals but skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni doesn't want to lose his sleep over play-off qualifications as he feels that even if they fail in that pursuit, it won't be "end of the world". CSK beat Delhi Capitals by 91 runs and moved to the eighth position in the league table and will now need to win three games and depend on other results to make it as fourth place entrants in the play-offs.

"If we make the playoffs, great. But even if we don't it's not the end of the world," a pragmatic Dhoni said after completing a 'Capitals Demolition'.

"I am not a big fan of maths. Even in school, I wasn't good at it. Thinking of the net run-rate doesn't help. You just want to enjoy the IPL. When two other teams are playing, you don't want to be under pressure and thinking. You just have to think about what to do in the next game," he said.

However, he did admit that the cricket they are playing now could have been played a few game earlier.

"It would have been better if we would have had a win like this somewhere early. It was a perfect game."

We were outplayed in each department: Pant

Rishabh Pant had no hesitation in admitting that his team was outplayed in every department of the game but it was good to get such a one-sided defeat out of the way.

"I think they outplayed us in all departments. As Delhi Capitals, we have played a lot of close games, there had to be a game where there is a massive difference between the two sides and unfortunately we are on the receiving end," he said.

Pant said that the equation is simple for DC from hereon as they must win three games and not depend on any other result to qualify.

"The only thing we can look forward to is the next three matches, if we win them then we will qualify." With a net bowler being found COVID-19 positive and opener Prithvi Shaw in the hospital, Pant agreed that a lot of off-the-field incidents were happening but at the same time wouldn't like to use them as an excuse.

"There is a fair bit going on amongst us, especially COVID-19 and we had few stomach infections, but we are not making an excuse and we just want to keep improving.

"Right now, we can be more positive and that's what we are going to be talking about to the boys, let's be more proactive and let's be in a good frame of mind to make good decisions in the next few matches," he concluded.

MI win toss and will bat

KKR have gone back to original opening pair here , Rahane and Venkatesh , they will hope to get a sound start , very good batting surface

Rahane is killing the momentum for KKR here , they need to start taking chances , this is a very good batting pitch.

OUT

Rahane again showing why he should be dropped next season , I would have preferred Tomar and give him 2 - 3 games at the top instead of playing finished Rahane

Rana is striking well here 39 from 23 balls

123 . 2

KKR has 42 balls more need to target another 70 runs here

As a non-indian non-ipl fan, I find this period of the year extremely boring with no international cricket for 2 months.
