Not been the most impressed by his appointment from Sky for his commentary/analyst/pundit (whatever you wanna call it) sting.

Seems short for words, lacks fluency and any energy to the Sky comm. box. Surely they could have found a better Indian to do the job.

He is more like an Indian cheerleader in the commentary box. Can't they do basic interview, research before appointing him. His command over English is very poor. He can't understand others say , he can't provide any critical analysis, He just acts like a cheerleader in the commentary box.

His wife is British and he spends a lot of time in UK. Wonder if that made any difference (plus not too many better options).

Recent diktats by CoA mean anyone getting paid by BCCI / working with state associations cannot do commentary. Rules out Ganguly and Dravid.

Those not on BCCI payroll like Zaheer Khan, Agarkar are with cricket sites plus have good deals with TV channels. VVS works full time with Star Sports.

Kumble perhaps was not interested, though he is equally drab (but with good fluency).

Loving his commentary. Always great to have fresh personalities in the box than the same old crap. Michael Holding has been a boring wood in that box for ages now and i am sick and tired of his grim commentary. Too many negative people in this world complaining about everything, not willing to give chances to fresh faces and bragging about a foreign language. English is not the language of India, Pakistan we are not supposed to speak it like they do. Go mock Michael Schumachers or Cristiano Ronaldos of the world for their poor command over English. No you never would do that because its okay for a lot of the desi show offs if French, Italian nationals cant speak fluent English but a moment a desi has a slip of tongue these guys start laughing and abusing. Extreme display of insecurity and lack of pride in being desi.

He can't speak English he should just do the Indian commentary in Hindi.

It was unwise to cast him. Unfair on him even- a producer or manager or director should have stepped in or ensured it was only on air for a few short guests stints. It is pretty clear that he is stifled by a lack of confidence or fluidity in his English.

I'm sure he has plenty to say in normal circumstances but he seems to be struggling with analysing the match, keeping up with his fellow commentators in another language, a director in the background/earpiece and freely expressing his own thoughts in English. It is a lot more to think about and a lot more pressure than simply having a conversation.

Lol Ramiz has masters from Punjab University and studied at Aitchison college.

OTOH Harbhajan studied at government Punjabi medium school, Class 12 is his highest education qualification.

Whatever English Bhajji speaks he learned on his own, which is commendable.

If you think this is just about fluency in English then you are very wrong. The guy can barely string 2 sentences together, appears very lethargic and doesn't give good insight into the game, for e.g. Bumble asked him what India were doing well when they were dismantling England's batting, he replied because they're bowling faster, so they're getting more swing. This actually makes no cricketing sense in respect of conventional swing and it had nothing to do with India's "extra pace" but more to do with the skills shown by the likes Pandya and etc.

How can you claim to love his commentary with this kind of showing?

I respect his ambition but i think hes over reaching here. Nothing wrong with hindi commentary for him ,millions of indians watch the hindi channel im sure.

Why are you watching Sky when there is Sony?

You get Gavaskar, Swann and Bhogle.

Admittedly, there is also Manjrekar but the pros outweigh the cons.

There is no technical analysis from him at all which is surprising.

Saqlain Mushtaq probably had the most cleanest action for an off spinner. His arm was very fast and would twist his wrist for the doosra. His doosra didnt even spin that much, his off spin delivery was more lethal.

The guy had the most cleanest action.

Yeah certainly Bhaji and Murali but not Saqlain.
