Looks like Bhajjis would lose 2.67 crorers because of this slap. Costliest slap :P. More than half a million USD.

I guess he beats Zsa Zsa Gabor then eh. At least he didn't have to go to jail like Zsa Zsa did.

On June 14, 1989, Gábor was accused of slapping the face of a Beverly Hills police officer named Paul Kramer when he stopped her for a traffic violation.[8] She was found guilty of the assault in a well-publicized trial and sentenced to three days (72 hours) in the El Segundo jail. The judge also required Gábor to pay $13,000 in court costs. She testified that her behavior had been provoked by the officer, who she said had behaved extremely rudely and insulted her with obscenities.

I have seen some preschoolers more mature than these two!

LOL! and the drama continues..

I saw a TV footage of Engineer making Harbhajan and Sreesanth hold hands together in typical Bollywood Shaadi style. Couldnt tell who was more embarrassed .... And Engineer was very much looking like the proud papa who just gave his girl to the best boy in the neighbourhood..

This has moved from the realm of sports to typical family soap!! bravo Farookh!! :)) :))

theres a "rumour" that maakinator slapped farookh engineer too :))) :)))

Interesting side of the story;
This man knows what Sreesanth did to Bhajji
Tapan Joshi

Harbhajan Singh may have got all the stick for slapping Sreesanth in Mohali, but Amiesh Saheba, one of the umpires officiating in the game who knew best what was happening on the field, has now revealed the secret of Sreesanth's behaviour that might have driven Bhajji mad.

According to the umpire, Sreesanth abused the Mumbai Indians relentlessly throughout the game and was warned twice by him and the other umpire, Pakistan's Aleem Dar. The umpires also warned Sreesanth's captain, Yuvraj Singh, about the bowler's behaviour, but Sree kept up his string of abuses even after it was clear that Mumbai would not win the game. "Sreesanth was sledging Mumbai's batsmen right from the start. He was over-the-top throughout the match and was acting like a petulant schoolboy. I and my colleague Aleem Dar warned him twice and we warned Yuvraj too," Saheba told this paper.

However, Saheba said, Sreesanth continued his tirade even against the lower order batsmen. "It was obvious by then that victory for Punjab Kings XI was a mere formality, but Sreesanth kept at it. Musavir Khote was the last man out for Mumbai, and Sreesanth was the one who got him. He even sledged Khote when he was on his way back to the pavilion. Surely, this would not have escaped the eyes of Mumbai players," Saheba said.

Though Saheba would not confirm this, others on the field said Sreesnath kept taunting Bhajji that he had "f****** him in his home state." Bhajji plays for Punjab in the Ranji Trophy.

The abuse continued even after the game. Saheba said, "During the post-match handshake between the two teams, we came to know that Sreesanth said something to Harbhajan, who was in a foul mood. What happened next, everybody knows."

Interestingly, match referee, former India wicket-keeper Faroukh Engineer whose inquiry into the bust-up resulted in an 11-match ban for Bhajji on Monday, did not call Saheba and Aleem Dar for a hearing.
Harbhajan has pleaded guilty to the slapping incident. Saheba however said no amount of provocation could justify what Bhajji had done. "Harbhajan's act was shameful. He was leading his team. Physical assault on the field is unthinkable in cricket," Saheba said.

Saheba, though, corroborated the theory that Sreesanth is disliked by his teammates in the national squad. "Yes, he is disliked in the Indian dressing room. He is one of India's main bowlers, and yet, he is not doing anything to get rid of that schoolboy image of his. His colleagues are not too happy with that," he stressed.

After telling above story, the poor guys gets suspended!! :)))

Amish Saheba suspended for two IPL matches
IPL Governing Council member IS Bindra on Tuesday slammed umpire Amish Saheba for commenting on S Sreesanth's on-field behaviour in the media and said he should have mentioned it in his report on the match between Kings XI Punjab and Mumbai Indians last week.

Bindra said Saheba, who was suspended for two IPL matches for his remarks reported in a Mumbai newspaper, had not submitted any report to match referee Farokh Engineer or the IPL on Sreesanth's conduct.

"The umpires are not supposed to give their reports to the media, but there is a set procedure through which they can report to the match referee or IPL," Bindra said.

"There is a prescribed proforma which umpires are supposed to fill and report in case they want to report on any incident. To my knowledge, the umpire in question has not submitted any report to the match referee or IPL co-ordinator," Bindra said.

Saheba had reportedly told a Mumbai newspaper that "Sreesanth abused the Mumbai Indians (led by Harbhajan Singh) relentlessly throughout the game and was warned twice" by him and the "other umpire, Pakistan's Aleem Dar."

On the slapping incident, Bindra, who is also the ICC's Principal Advisor, said, "It's a bad episode. There are no two opinions about that, but we should move forward.

"This kind of behaviour is not acceptable. We have maintained that spirit of the game is equally important, if not more than the letter of the law," Bindra said.

Bindra said Harbhajan, who was banned from the remaining matches of the IPL and lost 100 per cent of his match fees after being found guilty of slapping pacer Sreesanth, has been counseled on several occasions in the past.

"We have been counseling him in the past. I always counseled him in Australia recently (in the Andrew Symonds episode). When Sourav Ganguly was removed, he (Harbhajan) had given a statement. We remain in constant touch with him..," Bindra said.

Asked if any action could be recommended against Sreesanth as well, Bindra shot back that there was no proof of the Kerala pacers guilt.

"It is a hypothetical situation. Till yesterday, nobody has reported anything and Harbhajan has already accepted his mistake."

But how could this be? During the recent Indian tour of OZ, our Indian friends were very strident in their defence of Harby. They all said he was a

Most of the Indian cricketers are out of control now a days..this incident was really funny though. I mean, our guys look pretty stupid when they stare at the batsman when they are hit for four.

Aggression is not a big part of Indian personality and hence when they do it, something has to go wrong.

By the way I noticed the following aggressions in IPL….all done by Indians against there own Indian mates..
1- Sreesanth going ballistic at Mohd Kaif after he got his wicket..why? Don’t know, he just kept going at him. Wonder how they will get along the next time they share the Indian dressing room!

2- Praveen Kumar, normally a ‘quiet’ guy, caught the bug in the last game. Sunil Joshi mis-fielded and the ball went over the ropes. Big crime! Praveen kept on gesturing puttering quite a few things looking at Joshi..wonder where did team spirit and encouraging each other went? Not to mention doing this to someone who is a senior. I guess it does not matter now…Praveen is ‘today’ Joshi is the ‘past’.

3- Yuvraj Singh literally shouting and gesturing at the youngster for refusing a run….what an example to set. I guess if you are a ‘star’ you can take a youngter to task in front of millions of spectators? Would Yuvraj do the same with Ganguly or Dravid or Sachin? If no, then surely the crime was not that big…

4- Munaf, the eternal joker of Indian cricket goes BC…MC… at Ross Taylor after he gets him caught at the boundry..what did Ross do to Munaf? He took the liberty to hit him for a couple of sixes and a couple of boundries! How dare someone come in and hit his Majesty Munaf…ofcourse they don’t have that right. They should all pay respect to all Indian cricketers…

5- Saw Zaheer being aggressive again…just laughed..he has not learnt anything from the 2003 WC final.

There are a few more…but I guess we all get the point. By the way, what is it that makes all these players very very angry once they get a wicket? Pathan for example..he goes nuts as if some slapped him a few times!

All these guys should be put under someone like Kapil to make them understand cricket and the real cricketing aggression.

Yes and so he should be suspended. Kudos to BCCI - the umpire has no business making comment like this.

Not just a slap, Bhajji-Sree had a fist-fight

Source - Cricketnext.com

New Delhi: The April 25 slap-gate involving Harbhajan Singh and S Sreesanth threatened to turn uglier before teammates and security guards separated the volatile cricketers from a fisticuff.

After Harbhajan slapped Sreesanth, said a news channel, the standoff prolonged for a few minutes which saw the off-spinner, banned for the rest of the Indian Premier League, having another go at the pacer, nudging and abusing him.

According to the channel, which claimed to have had a look at the video footage, Harbhajan had another go at Sreesanth after he had slapped him while shaking hands with rival players after the match.

Sreesanth, on his part, was not ready to take it lying down and he too lunged at Harbhajan before teammates held him back.

The slapping cost Harbhajan nearly Rs three crore in fine and saw him being banned from the remainder of the ongoing IPL while Sreesanth was let off with a warning by Match Referee Farokh Engineer.

Harbhajan faces further punishement from BCCI which has appointed Advocate Sudhir Nanavati as Commissioner to probe the incident and submit his report to Cricket Board chief Sharad Pawar

So this seems to be true.... I hope bhajji gets severe punishment .. he is desperately trying to get his way out for the last time ... I hope BCCI don't leave this guy toll free

He definitely needs to be banned until November of this year :D

Harbhajan deserves a life ban He is a notorious violator. I will be disappointed if he is not getting a life ban.

Ban him and let him play ICL for the rest of his life.. We've Chawla and Ojha as back-ups..if experience is missing then Murali kartik to partner them in ODIs...

The real players ,that is test players behave normally and with maturity .The troubles are with the show ponies like Yuvraj ,Sreesanth and Bhajji who are absolutely useless against better sides .

Yuvi is the next best candidate ,with his over the top show offs.

IMO he has the best wrist position out of all of the indian bowlers ive seen so far

only if he worked on his bowling more other than being a a$$clown

i think its a match between indian blue vs indian some other colour lol... seems to be in 2009

Both these are very good examples on how a cricketer should not be.

Regardless of the so called talent that these two poses they were always in for causing an embarrassment or two for the team (Sree more so in recent times)

BTW, Thanks for the info and link :)

In the inaugural edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2008, an incident took place that grabbed headlines all over the world. India teammates Harbhajan Singh and S Sreesanth, playing for opposing teams in the IPL, were involved in one of the biggest controversies to hit the tournament. Sreesanth, playing for Kings XI Punjab, was slapped by Mumbai Indians star Harbhajan Singh. Subsequently, the off-spinner received a lengthy ban. Having already admitted his mistake and apologised for the unruly incident, Harbhajan Singh once again opened up on the infamous 'slapgate' -- this time in the presence of Sreesanth.

The duo appeared on 'Pitch-Ed Battles with Vikram Sathaye' on Glance Live Fest where Harbhajan spoke about the embarrassment both him and Sreesanth had to go through after the incident.

"Whatever happened in that IPL match, it was wrong. From my side it was wrong. I made a mistake by doing that. Because of it my colleague, my own teammate had to face embarrassment. I had to face the embarrassment that I had done a thing like this," said the former India cricketer.

"Not just today, I have said on every platform, if I have to correct one mistake what I made on the field, was probably that mistake I made with Sreesanth. What happened on that day in Mohali, it shouldn't have happened. When I think about that incident, I feel that there was no need," Harbhajan Singh added.

Sreesanth also regretted the altercation the two had and felt it was his mistake as well, saying he has learned a lot since then.
