“The two concerned players felt what has gone wrong and they have understood the magnitude.
“It has to hit anyone hard; they will definitely understand the things that have not gone right.
“These are purely individual opinions ... we definitely, as the Indian cricket team, do not support views like that and that has been communicated.”
Debate is raging among bigwigs at the BCCI, a conservative institution, about what punishment should be handed down.
A two-match ban appears most likely, although BCCI treasurer Anirudh Chaudhry has used the example of Steve Smith and David Warner in flagging the prospect of tougher penalties.
Smith and Warner were barred from taking part in last year’s Indian Premier League after the Cape Town cheating scandal.
There won’t be an Indian selection meeting about the SCG clash until their board provides an update.
“You have to adjust with the situation,” Kohli said.

They can do what they want in their private lives. But they need to know how to represent the brand. Salman Khan or Sanjay Dutt, do not belong to any corporate entity. HArdik Pandya does. If BCCI cares how its image is perceived, then it is within its rights to take whatever action it feels is needed.
If Hardik Pandya wants to maintain its freedom of speech, then he needs to divorce himself from BCCI.
Sidhu belongs to another political (similar to corporate) entity and if his political entity is not happy with his actions, they can choose to reprimand him.
All I am saying, if I were Kohli, I would not want to be associated by Hardik Pandya. For the next few months (until this topic dies), you will not see Kohli talking how awesome Pandya is.

Bcci legal team said these two cannot be punished as they havent broken any laws. So suspend them citing "Pending Enquiry".
Freedom of speech is a limited right, people have gotten sacked for making stupid statements online, a 2 match ban is fair considering you are supposed to be role models. I agree with the rahul part though the poor guy did nothing just being there shouldn't mean punishment,

Mallya's problems had nothing to do with bcci, it was his company they dealt with which iirc was sold to someone else.
Shami wasn't given a contract for a while due to his off field issues.
Advertising for 2 companies that went bankrupt has nothing to do with the 2 cricketers, there was nothing that wither did that led to problems.
Also Sahara chief's public problems started in 2014 when he was jailed until then it was a sebi dispute can't really stop companies from sponsoring because they have issues with the regulator.

Mallya was a defaulter who owned and operated a IPL team and continued to appear on the bcci tournament till he fled India. But apparently thats fine.
Shami was never suspended. He was given the contract saying bcci has nothing to do with his personal lives. Diana Eduljee and Vinod Rai were blasted in a bcci meetimg by a ex Indian captain for with holding Shami's contract.

Mallya was not a wilful defaulter until 2014, Diageo were the largest shareholders in 2013 of RCB owners United Spirits, so not true. You can't stop someone from watching a cricket match because he did not pay his loans.
Sahara were out of cricket by 2013, so again nothing for bcci to do.
Anyway we are diverging from the point, Pandya is an indian cricketer who represents the indian team, he should be behaving in accordance to standards expected of someone who is representing his country and while he may have just signed up to play cricket but if he can't be a decent human being he should stick to playing for his gully and not represent the nation. His comments were sexist and misogynist, and has been rightly punished for the same, why do you think if he was so right in his behavior did he apologize so quickly, this isn't the 1950's, such nonsense isn't tolerated anymore.

Mallya was running RCB till 2016. Only in 2016 did he step down from RCB and United Spirits board. If i am not wrong he along with SRK and others was playing in a owners match of IPL in 2015.
Sahara didnot exit they lost the bid to STAR. So bcci did nothing.
Pandya didnot sign up to be tested by feminists. He didnot break any laws. If feminists dont like it, its their problem. Anyone is free to do anything as per the law of the land. Bcci isnt above that. He apologised under duress.

Really? He's a bits-and-pieces hack who will not make a top-100 batsmen or bowlers list in the history of cricket. So many have come before him - from Robin Singh to Yousuf Pathan, to Ravi Bopara and the Silva of the day in other countries.

Lol so they have banned them for something that is not related to cricket? As I said, KL Rahul deserves to be dropped based on his performance alone. Even though I don't like Hardik Pandya the cricketer, I would still support him in this case because he has apologised. He is not a serial offender and didn't say those things on a cricket field. BCCI is just acting like Cricket Australia now and coming under the pressure of internet trolls. Performances in the bed shouldn't be taken into consideration.

Of course there are unusual circumstances than can involve endangering another individual or criminal activity, but this is below that measure.
Once again, the issue the BCCI has made is the manner in which Pandya flamboyantly announced his promiscuity on national television.
India still has taboos about openly discussing sex in public therefore it is understandable.
They are setting a precedent for further young players as to not bring any unwanted attention.
The audacity of the outraged to express their dissent has never been so fine.

He bragged about women, not knowing their names but having fun with them. He put them down to simply objects of desire. This is similar thinking to those who abuse women. Even in a society where women have the most rights and suffer the least abuse, such comments wouldn't have gone down well but in India where headlines such as 'every 20 min there's a rape in Delhi' it becomes many times worse.
You might think it's fine to talk of women in such regard but it's nice to see the BCCI and Virat Kohli dont.
