Hardik Pandya has the potential to be the best all-rounder in the world

All hail IPL.. IPL captaincy has transformed Pandya into a very smart and tough cricketer.
 
Just the first game, still so many games to go. I can imagine our supastar losing his way.
 
Life came full circle for Hardik Pandya at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday as he went on to play a match-winning knock against Pakistan, the same opponent, against whom he had gotten injured in 2018 during the Asia Cup and was forced to miss almost three years of cricket action. On Sunday, the all-rounder brought his A-game to the middle as he took three wickets before scoring a quickfire 33 to help India defeat Pakistan by five wickets. This knock helped the Rohit Sharma-led side chase down 148 with two balls to spare.

In a video shared on the official website of BCCI, Hardik can be seen chatting with Ravindra Jadeja, and he speaks about how he had gotten injured in 2018.

"I was remembering it all. I was stretchered off at the same venue against the same opponent in the 2018 Asia Cup. You feel a sense of achievement because the things that have happened in the past, today I got an opportunity. The journey is beautiful. The fruits of our journey come to us, but behind the scenes, a lot of people do not get credit who walk along with us," said Hardik.

India were in a spot of bother during their chase of 148, and it was then that Hardik joined hands with Ravindra Jadeja to form a 52-run stand for the fifth wicket. Jadeja perished after scoring 35, but Hardik ensured that the side walks away with a victory.

"I was thinking that seven runs in the final over is not that steep a challenge. Left-arm spinner was bowling and there were five fielders inside the ring. This all did not matter to me, even if there were 10 fielders standing at the boundary, it would not have mattered as I had to hit a big shot. In the entire innings, I just showed emotion once and it was when you got out. I was not feeling the pressure as I knew the pressure is clearly on the bowler. I knew he would bowl back of a length delivery," said Hardik.

Talking about the victory, Jadeja said: "It was very important. I was promoted higher up the order. I was looking to take my chances against the spinners. We formed a partnership, it was important and we were chatting about backing our strengths."

Still better than Rohit Sharma who has been trash vs Pakistan in 9 T20 games now with the highest score of 30. Pandya atleast has won a game vs Pak with his all round performance. He and Kohli both are better than the actual trash, Rohit and Rahul. :inti

pandya is a good, confident player.

even against CT 2017 he was taking the game away until he got run out.

Don't know witch game you were watching but he wasn't taking anything away on the champions trophy final.
 
Horrid game which is ok. As long as he looks like he's giving his best when in national colors idc.

But wasn't too happy about some of his expressions that seemed directed at his captain - couldn't see, it seemed pointed towards where Rohit was standing. And Rahul was mostly walking alongside him while he was getting ready to bowl

If he thinks he's some don because he won an IPL lol at him

So Kohli is better now after 2 good games and Rohit, KL are trash? What are the odds of you changing your statement again after KL wins another match for India? At least I don't pretend to be someone's die hard fan, defend him everytime and leave him when the going gets tough. Players like Pant, Pandya and KL have got too many PLASTIC fans to support them. :inti

No one is a bigger CHAMELEON and PLASTIC than you.

Kohli was always better than KL and Rohit, don't think anyone ever said the other way round. I even remember I said that Pandya is a real deal in T20s and not KL as he is vulnerable in big games and I still stick to it. You are obviously PLASTIC and CHAMELEON both and change your tune or start giving excuses that I was travelling and I am giving credit (that's changing tune actually)blah blah when the pressure is on you, haha you freaking softie! :91: :inti

I was infact travelling but I still logged in to leave a comment that day. I didn't even watch that match properly. Ask the mods to give you more details about my location so that you can stop crying like a baby over my travelling schedules lol. :91:

He is one of the best in LOIs but not the best. Stokes is best by a long way and then there are a few who blow hot and cold.
 
A very unlike Indian cricketer maybe Indian version of Keiron Pollard prototype or perhaps that Mumbai Indians influence

He was playing on 76 and he hit 6 sixes all of Fakhar Zaman and Shadab Khan. When he was out there was still 186 runs remaining. This guy hasn't score a hundred yet and you think he was capable of scoring a double hundred that day against Amir, Junaid and Hasan Ali.

Ok I am trying last time.
There were 186 runs remaining in 23 overs when Pandya left. The RRR wasn't 6.

Pandya did hit 6 sixes not 9.

Pandya has never scored over 108 runs in an innings in any form of cricket he has played. Be it tesr, ODI'S, t20i's, first class, list A.
So no no no, there was no chance of him winning that match.

Pakistan gifted him some runs by bowling Fakhar Zaman. That was a nothing innings in an already lost match.

Thank you for summarising so well the basic logic of that innings. If someone still finds a way to argue, it’s clearly not worth even discussing it after that.

Pakistan was so ahead of the game, sarfaraz kept bowling Shadab and Pandya. Eventually he bought back Hasan and Pandya was run out.

Pandya is a very good batter but he should not be played as a third fast bowler.
 
Pandya is a good batesman and a brilliant fielder however he is nowhere near as a good as a bowler.
 
Pandya is neither a bad alrounder nor earth shattering talent. This thread is blown out of proportion for a mediocre alrounder- 14 pages. Jadeja can be discussed for this many pages, not this guy ��

Agree with this especially if the second pacer is a greenhorn like Arshdeep.

Our bowling lineup for last game was recipe for disaster and it showed in the result of the game too.

Arahdeep is okay I don't think he bowled that badly.
 
As for Pandya, yet another forgettable tourney (except for 1st game against Pakistan) for yet another bilateral bully from our stable.
 
The problem with Pandya is that he gives one world class performance and then fails in the next 3-4 games.

His talent is not the question here. He is gifted surely. But at this level it takes more than just talent.

The only thing saving him these days is his reputation of bowling decent overs but he now seems to be losing consistency there as well.

It's upto India now to decide whether his once in 4 games good performance is worth it.

Pandya, KL both are inconsitent performers. The only place they can deliver everytime is on the sets of 'Koffee with Karan'. :rabada2

First time I heard that a 29 years old batting all rounder with just one hundred in professional cricket has the potential to become the best in the world.

He has to go back to first class and list A, try to score some runs and then, if he improves we will see.
 
We are a nation of hyperboles especially in social media.

I remember seeing memes being made on Pandya's famous nod of head before the penultimate delivery was to be bowled in our first game against Pakistan. He was compared with Kaleen bhaiya (Mirzapur fame) who similarly exuded confidence in his own abilities of dealing with any adversity his empire faced from his adversaries.

There is nothing wrong in it if it made people chuckle, it surely made me chuckle. But what it also does is to put people on a higher pedestal too fast for doing too little.

Reminds me of the 90s joke we used to hear as kids in haryana that once a lion entered haryana and after cops were asked to capture it, they caught a bear and announced they had caught the lion. When media arrived they saw them torturing the bear to admit "bol tu lion hai". Same is the case with Hardik, commentators aka India cheerleaders from Sanjay to Bhogle to Wasim Akram, keep telling indian public that hardik is the greatest all rounder while in our heart we all know he's fairly ordinary and hasn't won us anything substantial ever. But then that's wot media does and it's the foolish public that laps it up.
 
Pandya is poor man's Ben stokes.... classic allrounder for me was cairns, razzaq,flintoff

He's a limited over specialist and will highly unluckily get 100 due to we're he bats.
 
I will always support the Indian cricket team but I’m having a very hard time supporting the likes of Pandya, Kohli, Rohit, Rahul, Chahal right now.

Nothing special. And he shouldn't be called an allrounder based on his T20 bowling. It is just an insult to those who do both bowling and batting at test and ODI level regularly. He is a batsman and a part time bowler. :inti

If he is scoring you should know that conditions are special. Even 210 looked just an okay total.
The same can be said about Rahul and SKY.

A choker, nothing else just like most of our players are. Bashing hapless bowlers in pressure less bilaterals is easy, making it count when it matters is beyond him and his team mates.

When the going gets tough, he goes missing.

Cameron Green has all the tools needed to be a fantastic LOI player. He can be Australia's Pandya.

Plz don't mistake me.... pandya always look like a malnourished kid with a ugly stance while batting....his innings has many mishits always but some how he has managed to sustain....and recently won an ipl too...
Regarding his bowling,,,he is a part timer like Robin Singh ...
And plz don't call him an all rounder...it will be a shame to those past greats
