It goes back to 2015.

- Pakistan vs Bangladesh 3rd ODI 2015 (Haris 52)
- Pakistan vs Zimbabwe 1st ODI 2015 (Haris 89)
- Pakistan vs Zimbabwe 2nd ODI 2015 (Haris 68*)
- Pakistan vs SL 1st Test 2017 (Haris 76)

How have we missed him.

In hindsight - I wwould she'd he had debuted even earlier back in 2012 or even 2011 back when we had YK, Misbah, Shadiq etc. in our middle order.

Very unfortunate he had to suffer a little my term injury but hope he can kick on now and resume where he left off.

Top bloke and I would argue he is better than Babar in Tests and even ODI's.

Mighty consistent player.

His application and approach to batting is outclass.

Needs to start making hundreds.

Yesterday he was in a situation where he just couldn't have played for his hundred so that's understandable. In ODIs, we've seen many times that he's failed to kick on and make a big score. Hope he improves on this front.

Should have been selected over Asad Shafiq in 2011... Always look at FC average when selecting players... Shafiq average shows he didn’t deserve to play over Fawad Alam and Harris Sohail

Abdul And what is Asad Shafiq doing? Or maybe Shan Masood?

Haris is much better than both of them, he's leagues above.

When did I ever defend Masood?

Without a shadow of a doubt, Haris should have been inducted into the team way before he actually was.

You can thank Misbah the savior for that... Made him bat at 7-8 in his debut ODI series and then dropped him after one series. Meanwhile guys like Kami, Umar, Farhat etc etc kept getting selected over and over again.

All hail saviour

:salute

Yep, such a travesty that injustices like nepotism, favouritism, seniority and other factors keep genuine prospects out of the team.

It will come with time.

He played in the WC almost immediately after his return to the team in Nov 2014 so understandably it was tough for him.

He got a few starts in Bangladesh series in 2015 but other than him and Azhar - our team was a mess back then so Haris was the least of our worries.

In the Zimbabwe series right afterwards - he pretty much ran out of time in both ODI's he played as Malik ran rampant in the first ODI and the fact that he came in at 170/2. Next ODI - he remained unbeaten on 68* as we only had to chase 268 (before getting mysteriously dropped for the final game )

Haris should have debuted after the 2011 WC.

Agree - Misbah made a big blunder by preferring Shafiq to Haris back in 2011.

We lost 3 years of Haris due to that decision...

Regarding the last bit, think that's when he got injured so it makes sense why he was dropped unless I'm mistaken.

There's little doubt about his class as a batsman.

If he stays fit, he's far better than other options.

no doubt he is better than babar in longer format
but no way he is close to anywhere near babar in LOIs

Even in LOIs, he is better choice than Azhar for opening slot. Harris has more shots than Azhar and can accelerate better. In test, he is better than Babar and possibly Shafiq(time will tell)...Babar is one of the best we have in LOI, but we have serious shortage of players who can judge the length of fast bowlers early and can spank them, Harris has those skills...First I hope Harris is successful in test and that confidence translates to ODIs, there are only two years left, we need one solid attacking player at the top in ODIs for WC2019, technique and skill wise there is nobody better than him on the horizon, now since Sharjeel is gone. There is no guarantee, that he will deliver, but he has skillsets and potential...

He was supposed to debut much earlier in tests. It was the test series in SAF in 2013. But he got injured yet again and was sent back. Has always been injury prone.
