I would agree if he wasn't blessed with pace but he's very quick and is one of the most fittest players at the club.

I could be wrong but I reckon he can sustain this levels for a few more years before he begins to regress.

It is not necessarily about regression. I think he has about 3-4 excellent seasons in him, but after winning everything at Liverpool, he could be looking at new challenge in a new league. Similarly, Liverpool could also be open to commanding a massive fee for him now to reinvest in the squad instead of allowing everyone to get old/decline together.

Very few teams are capable of transitioning from one top team to another smoothly. SAF was a master at it, which allowed him to continue to retain Man United as a top two team in England for so many consecutive seasons. He had a very good knack of knowing when to sell a particular player no matter how good the player was.

Let’s see if Klopp can do that at Liverpool after building a wonderful side.

No. Salah is still not an elite footballer.

Let’s see if Klopp can do that at Liverpool after building a wonderful side.

We are not Arsenal looking to build, we have a first XI which can win CL and PL again. We look to each game and each season. Klopp has already proven he can build a team, again with LFC. He isnt stupid, he knows when some players leave or get old , they need replacing with similar quality.

Salah is again top scorer so far with 15 PL goals and once again already scored 20 this season, 4 years in a row. Some on here think he is playing not as good, if thats the case their own strikers are poor by comparison.

Salah has been Liverpool’s best player this season by some distance. Some people think he is not playing as good as before because the level of most other players has dropped off, but individually he is still brilliant.

Another issue is that Salah set unrealistic expectations after his first season where he was playing like Messi and scored 44 goals across competitions.

That is why we keep hearing people say for the last 2-3 years that he has declined, but the reality is that he punched above his weight in his first season. You cannot replicate seasons like that unless you are Messi/Ronaldo level.

Salah is still good for 25-30 goals per season and he will continue to get that mark for a few more seasons to come.

It will be difficult to catch City now but Liverpool should still be able to leapfrog United.

Liverpool is not in rebuilding phase now but things change quickly in football. Loyalty doesn’t exist in football anymore unless you are a youth player like TAA.

Whether Klopp can build a great team at Liverpool after this generation remains to be seen.

He will probably not extend beyond 2024 and that would be a critical period for Liverpool in terms of transition when you look at the ages of the current core of players.

So unless he revamps the squad over the next couple of years and replaces his core with younger players, whoever replaces him in 2024 (most probably Gerrard) will have a tough job to do.

But this isn’t the first time he will leave his team in trouble. He got Mainz relegated and then left when he couldn’t get promoted the next season, he left BVB when they finished 7th.

Let’s where Liverpool stand when he leaves in 2024.

It will be interesting to see what happens with Salah next season.

I wonder if he thinks he has achieved all he can at the club and will look for a new challenge.

No. Salah is still not an elite footballer.

Id be intrested to know what elite footballers you have ahead of him on your list? He is easily liverpools best player barring Mane , but he is a victim of his own success, he is still top goal scorer this season yet we are constantly being told he is finished past it not good enough etc, dunno what more he needs to do?

Ronaldo and Messi for starters. He is a brilliant footballer yet the term "world class" is thrown around too much these days.

Ronaldo and Messi are on another planet so you cant even consider them, let me ask the question another way then, what does salah have to do to be considered world class?

World class players are indeed on another level which is why Salah is not that. He misses to many chances.

The guys being deliberately funny. There's virtually no one being doing what he has other than them two. Maybe Lewa in a less than desirable competition; the quality is great, competition not.

It is up to me if I do not consider Salah to be world class or an elite footballer. Get over it!

Liverpool lose to Brighton without Mane and of course injured Jota. World class players come to the party when their colleagues are having a bad match or are injured. Salah couldn't even score against Brighton! Nuff said.

It’s like fernandes at Utd, only so much one player can carry an average team.

Liverpool are not an average team. He did not deliver against what was a below average side. That is the only fact that matters, the rest are only excuses.

Your opinion counts for a lot though. More than all the renowned analysts in the world who undoubtedly categorise Salah in the very top bracket

There are many who do not consider Salah to be an elite footballer. Fans views are as valid as those of pundits. If Salah is world class then Messi and Ronaldo must be superhuman!

Which they pretty much are. Don't go confusing yourself too much

Sure, oracle. Please advise the difference between 'world' and 'international'?

World class is an elite group consisting the best of the best. International's often include average players as well. For example the English national team consists of many average players.

I find desi Salah critics funny. It's almost as if they're self-hating brown people. To quote the Kop; 'sit down'

So anyone who does not see Salah as being world class is a self hater?? I can only :facepalm at that. These self haters love many coloured footballers.

Not only a world class player but also a world class diver.

One can only laugh at the Salah fans who try to argue that he is not a diver.

Went missing today.

Not for the first time either this season.

Seems to be lacking the intent of previous seasons.

We have VAR now, the refs know the rules. Salah was fouled, decided to go down instead of going for goal. It was dramatic but not a dive. A dive is when you go down without contact.

Top scorer with 16 goals in PL. 4 seasons in a row he has scored 20 goals. Its not Salah it's the team not playing as they did last season due to all centre backs being injured.

Yeah, he won the penalty - overly theatrical, granted- and converted it. This is a team out of ideas and with little intensity. Might be the end of an era

He definitely went down very easily today but all the top players do it. All of Liverpool front 3 poor again , the focus has shifted to top 4 rather than retaining the title, can’t see past Man City.

We have all 4 centre backs out. Man City had one centre back out last season and we won by 20 odd points. Im not sure if they will do the same.

Next season, we will be back. A few changes can make a huge difference esp when our centre mids are playing out of position too.

We all know how VAR works. It is useless. The number of bad calls has increased in the PL after its introduction.

Salah is an actor. He is on par with Ronaldo and only behind Neymar. Not sure why Liverpool fans are ashamed of admitting it.

It doesn’t change the fact that he is a brilliant player.

Bayern Munich chief Karl-Heinz Rummenigge admits it would be "an honour" to bring Mohamed Salah to the club - but conceded they have no imminent plans to make a swoop.

Acting is part of the game now because many times Refs dont give a pen if a player is fouled but stays on his feet. This is not cheating and neither is it a dive. A dive is when a player is NOT fouled but falls to the ground looking for a pen. Nobody I know is ashamed , I was only putting you right , yet again in regards to what a dive is. Thanks :)

TBF, Salah is not the only one diving in the PL, there's actually quite a few when you watch the PL matches. Salah will get highlighted more often since he's a high profile and plays for Liverpool.

But there are a bunch of other big name players in the PL who are notorious for diving to gain a penalty. I can name Jamie Vardy, Raheem Sterling, Wilfried Zaha and Harry Kane as such.

The thing is you only need to be touched in the box and you could get a penalty. Referees are now instructed to award a penalty if there's been contact and the player has been adjudged to been fouled in the box.

If your play acting is good, this contact only has to be minimal and you could get a free goal through a penalty. Therefore, a lot of players are making full use of this and trying to gain an advantage. Just look at how many penalties Man Utd get with their players making the most out of this rule.

Although no penalty was awarded in this instance, does anyone remember the way Lamela went to ground in the box like he'd been shot after being barely touched by Martial waiting for a corner kick. Martial got sent off but watching that was so cringeworthy.

Video about my last point. The actual incident is shown from around 46s.

Mohamed Salah has hinted that his future could lie in Spanish football amid continued speculation that the forward could leave Liverpool.

The Premier League's joint-top scorer this season is under contract at Anfield until 2023 but has been linked with a move elsewhere, with Barcelona and Real Madrid often touted as potential destinations for Salah if he were to depart Merseyside.

Last year, the forward described the Spanish giants as two "great" clubs, but Jurgen Klopp later played down any transfer talk surrounding the Egyptian international.

Liverpool play Real Madrid in the quarter-finals of the Champions League in April as the two sides meet for the first time since 2018's final in Kiev which finished 3-1 to the Spanish side and ahead of the games, Salah refused to rule out a future move to La Liga.

When asked whether he is eager to try out Spanish football, Salah told MARCA: "I hope to be able to play for many more years. Why not?

"No one knows what's going to happen in the future, so... maybe one day, yes.

"I hope to be doing the same thing that I've been doing in recent years. Winning trophies, scoring goals, helping my team win trophies...

"That's the most important thing for me."

In January, Salah said he wanted to stay and continue to break records for as long as possible at Anfield and claimed he was "100 per cent" committed to winning more trophies at the club.

When pressed once again on his future at Liverpool, he said: "It's not up to me. We'll see what happens, but I prefer not to talk about that now."

Salah also described his relationship with manager Klopp as a "normal relationship between two professionals".

Liverpool's chances of defending the 2019/20 Premier League title have fallen away over the course of the campaign, with leaders Manchester City currently holding a 25-point gap over the Reds who are seventh in the table with seven matches remaining this season.

Klopp's side are still yet to win a top-flight home game this calendar year during a poor run of results in 2021.

Salah believes Liverpool's below-par performances in the league mean he and his team-mates have an added reason to redeem themselves in their bid to try and reclaim the Champions League.

"Lots of things happened at once. Luck hasn't been on our side," he added.

"It's made us want to win the Champions League even more and I hope we can do it."

The forward, currently away on international duty with Egypt, also admitted he felt uncertain regarding the prospect of representing his country at the Olympic Games in Tokyo this summer, which could prove problematic for Liverpool with the next Premier League season set to start on August 14.

"Whatever happens, everyone will be in agreement - including my club," he said.

Salah joined Liverpool from Roma for a then club-record transfer fee in 2017 and the 28-year-old has scored 119 goals in 192 matches for the club in all competitions.

Ramos is injured, wont be playing in either leg v LFC.

Not sure where you got this information, he's joined Real Madrid, please share source.

Real Madrid will prioritise buying Mbappe and Haaland. I can only see them buying Salah if they miss out on one or both of these players.

As for Barca, they're broke.

Salah is a very good player but calling him world class is going too far. The reality is he is playing under a great manager who has a great system, which is making him look world class. If he was playing under a rubbish manager like Ole, Salah would look average at best.

Ye he's a plodder who was made to look good in Florence and Rome too with their behemoth clubs. Wtaf

Mohamed Salah is the first PL player since 2017-18 to reach 20 away goals in all competitions in a season. His 20 goals have come in 25 appearances

Wonderful finish today.

A goal from literally nothing from the brilliant Egyptian.

Mo Salah was voted Liverpool’s Standard Chartered Men’s Player of the Season

Mohamed Salah has been voted Liverpool‘s Standard Chartered Men’s Player of the Season for the 2020-21 campaign.

Supporters voted for Salah ahead of Fabinho, who finished in second place and Nathaniel Phillips, who finished in third place.

The Egyptian forward scored 31 goals in 51 appearances in all competitions for Liverpool this season – making him the club’s top scorer.

https://englishheadline.com/mo-sala...-of-fabinho-and-nat-phillips-englishheadline/

Another fantastic season for Mo!

Fantastic player, but it is time for him to leave Liverpool.

He is seemingly talking to PSG. If they can keep Mbappe this summer, which they most probably will because Madrid cannot afford him at the moment, a Neymar-Mbappe-Salah front three would be amazing.

The greatest front three of the modern era after Messi-Suarez-Neymar.

It would also be great to see a diving competition between the two biggest divers in the world - Neymar and Salah.

Well if he leaves

Neto ,
Donyell malen and onuachu are potential replacements .

Doesn't that apply for all players though?

As a united fan I will aknowledge the quality of Mohammad Salah, his record speaks for itself and no doubt he's one of the best forwards in Europe.

Liverpool would want well over a 100 million for him. Doubt any team outside the PL will want to pay that in this current climate.

I think he stays.

Doesn't that apply for all players though?

It does but the thing that annoys me when people start judging players purely on stats and not their overall performance. Someone like Eden Hazard at his best is a better player than Salah, but stat merchants will say that Salah is better because he scores more goals.

As it stands today:

Mohamed Salah (98) has moved outright second in the leading Premier League goal-scorers from Africa. He's six behind Didier Drogba's record of 104.

That's the fifth season (EPL) in a row he has scored on the opening weekend.

Liverpool have told the Egyptian FA Mohamed Salah will not join up with the rest of the country's squad for their upcoming World Cup qualifiers due to quarantine restrictions.

Egypt, whose team are set to face Angola in Cairo on September 2 and then Gabon away three days later, is a country currently on the UK Government's red travel list.

A statement on the Egyptian FA's official website said: "The Egyptian Football Association had received a letter from Liverpool FC apologising for the inability of its player, Mohamed Salah, to join the national team in its next camp, which includes Angola in Cairo and Gabon in Franceville during the first and second rounds of the African continent's qualifiers for the World Cup.

Egypt manager Hossam El Badry says the UK Government can help find a reasonable solution to the red-list row over player travel, and he is not giving up on Mohamed Salah and Mohamed Elneny playing in next week's World Cup Qualifiers.

https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11669/12410266/mohamed-salah-liverpool-boss-jurgen-klopp-not-involved-in-contract-talks

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is focused on Mohamed Salah's form on the pitch and not his contract negotiations.

The club have agreed a raft of new deals with senior players this year but Salah, who has just under two years left on his contract, is one whose longer-term future is yet to be tied down.

Negotiations have not affected his performances, with the Egypt international scoring in four of his five appearances this season.

"There's nothing really to say, especially from me as I am not involved," said Klopp.

"The only thing I'm really interested in is how Mo looks, how sharp and committed he is at the moment, and that's absolutely spot on.

"He looks really good. There is nothing else to say."

Forward Roberto Firmino will again be absent for Saturday's visit of Crystal Palace with a hamstring injury.

"He is not ready," said Klopp. "Bobby won't start training with the team until some time next week. Then we will have to wait and see."

Klopp rotated his side for the Champions League win against Milan, with Virgil van Dijk, Thiago and Sadio Mane dropping to the bench, and the Liverpool boss will make further changes when they face Palace - their third game in seven days.

"Three games a week is normal but Sunday-Wednesday-Saturday is a tough one," said Klopp. "It's the shortest you can get in a normal week.

"We came through (against Milan) and the boys did really well. We will have to make changes again, that's clear."

Mane netted his 99th Liverpool goal in last Sunday's Premier League win at Leeds, scoring in injury-time after squandering a plethora of earlier chances, and Klopp would love to see him reach his century against Palace at Anfield.

"Sadio looks really good and sharp," said Klopp. "We talk about this when a striker misses some chances but the amount of chances he had, that's actually the important stuff.

"He is in a good moment, both physically and mentally. It would be really nice [to get to 100 goals on Saturday].

"Sadio is an exceptional player, he has to perform exceptionally. That's how it is, that's the standard we expect from him and usually he delivers."

Mohamed Salah is a "different" prospect for opponents this season and will only get better and better, says former Liverpool winger Luis Garcia.

Forward Salah, 29, is into his fifth campaign as a Liverpool player and scored his fourth goal of the new season in the comeback 3-2 win against AC Milan in the Champions League at Anfield on Wednesday

The Egypt international has adopted his tactical understanding which could see him deliver more goals than before, according to Garcia.

"He is becoming more and more important. He knows where he has to be. I think we can see a different Salah at the moment. You don't see him making those 50-yard runs, beating players and putting it in the top corner.

"Now it is moving more around the box; he knows his combinations so he is ready. That is why is numbers are getting better and better.

"His strengths are used next to the box and the six-yard box. Every single time the ball is around there you know that he is so dangerous. I think the numbers could be even higher this season."

The others were strikers. Quite outrageous

names on teamsheets hardly matter these days, when you look at average positions, salah plays more as a striker than harry kane does,

People who dont understand football will say he is a winger, when actually LPs no.9 drops in to MF as a AM and Salah moves in as the prime striker for LP.

Whats outrageous is actully how harry kane scores so many goals while playing as a striker and a playmaker at the same time.

That was a magnificent piece of football.

A goal of the season contender.

Destroyed Man Utd!

Love this interview. Not only a world class player but a great person, who loves Liverpool. :)

Mohamed Salah & Sam Kerr win Football Writers' Association awards

Liverpool's Mohamed Salah has been named men's footballer of the year and Chelsea's Sam Kerr women's footballer of the year by the Football Writers' Association (FWA).

Egypt striker Salah has scored 30 goals for quadruple-chasing Liverpool this season, including 22 in the Premier League.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/61268349

44 Games - 30 Goals - 14 Assists.

Incredible numbers again from our Egyptian King! But this doesnt tell the whole story, so many times he has unlocked the opposition to get us a win. His pressing, running, work is second to none also.

Huge Congratulations to Mo!

Nice one Mo :)

Very presitigous award. The late great Stanley Matthews was the first winner.

Mo is only one of 9 players to ever win this twice. Henry has won it 3 times. I wouldnt be surprised if Mo suprasses him before he retires. Hopefully he will sign a new contract.

<b>Mohamed Salah targets 'revenge' when Liverpool face Real Madrid in Champions League final</b>

Mohamed Salah says it will be "revenge time" when Liverpool face Real Madrid in the Champions League final.

Their meeting in Paris on 28 May is a repeat of the 2018 final, which the Spanish giants won 3-1.

Salah was forced off injured before half-time in that game with a shoulder injury sustained in a challenge by Real defender Sergio Ramos.

"I'm so excited, I said before the game that I wanted to play Madrid in the final," the 29-year-old forward said.

"We lost in the (2018) final, it was a sad day for all of us and I think it is revenge time.

"I'm sure it is going to be a tough game, they beat a lot of good teams so we just need to focus on the game."

Salah bounced back from that particular disappointment 12 months later, scoring a penalty in the Champions League final against Tottenham as the Reds won 2-0 to clinch their sixth European crown.

This season Liverpool remain in the hunt for an unprecedented quadruple, having won the League Cup and booked their place in the FA Cup final, where they will face Chelsea at Wembley on 14 May.

Meanwhile, the Anfield outfit trail Premier League leaders Manchester City by one point with four games of the league campaign remaining.

Egypt captain Salah has been vital in Liverpool's challenge on all fronts this season, scoring 30 goals and notching 14 assists in 45 appearances.

His form has seen him crowned as the Football Writers' Association's Footballer of the Year for the second time, having also won the award four years ago.

"It feels great," he said after receiving his award on Thursday night in London.

"I want to thank everyone who voted for me - of course journalists are a big part of the football family. Hopefully we can win some more (trophies) this year."

Salah tweeted that Liverpool "have a score to settle" after Real came back from 5-3 down on aggregate to beat Manchester City in their semi-final tie on Wednesday.

Liverpool's Mohamed Salah says he would give up all the awards he won in 2021-22 for a chance to replay the Champions League final against Real Madrid.

The 29-year-old's side were beaten 1-0 by the Spanish club last Saturday.

Salah ended the season with FA Cup and Carabao Cup winners' medals and also collected several personal awards.

"Being recognised by the fans and by the sports journalists in the same season is something special that I will never forget," Salah posted on Twitter.

"I would however give all those personal awards up for a chance at replaying that final, but that is not how football works."

Salah also said on social medial that part of him "wishes" next season "starts again tomorrow" following last weekend's defeat.

Liverpool claimed the two cups but as well as losing to Real also came second to Manchester City in the Premier League.

"I cannot express in words how much we wanted to bring that trophy back to Liverpool but in the end we couldn't," added Salah.

"I cannot thank the fans enough for your support.

"It has been a very long season but a part of me wishes the next one starts again tomorrow."

The former Roma forward has yet to sign a new contract with the Reds, despite his current deal ending in June 2023, but said in the build-up to the game against Real that he would be "staying next season for sure" at Anfield.

Salah ended the 2021-22 season the Premier League's joint leading scorer with Tottenham's Son Heung-min on 23 goals.

The Egypt forward picked up several personal awards including the Football Writers' Association (FWA) men's footballer of the year and Premier League goal of the season for his finish against Manchester City on 3 October.

Salah was also voted PFA Fans' Player of the Year for 2021-22.
