I still think Starc is the best but Ali has had the better 2017.
What about this;
Starc the best lefty and Hasan the best right hander?

Rumaan Raees has the potential to be as good as Hasan Ali. Has an average in the low twenties so far in the few ODIs he has played.
I think Ali is the best ODI bowler overall this year, he has like 7 3 wicket hauls back to back.
But overall, career wise, Starc is better but Ali could overtake him in the next 12 months.

Its hard to over take starc in ODIs. For me, he single handedly won australia the world cup 2015. Look at his economy rate in that world cup and generally in this day and age. Freakish stuff. Hasan would have to put in monumental performances to overtake him convincingly.
Argument can be made that Hassan Ali's turn around in fortunes in the CT was what won Pakistan that particular tournament. He did so in a worse team and away from home against two of the best bowling line ups around.
Yes, true. Pak would not have won without Hasan. By no means are Hasan's acheivements in CT a mean feat. It was massive.
But personally speaking, Starc's performance in WC looked better to me. Hasan has had an amazing 2017. I hope he leave starc behind but its going to be tough.
He has good variations but lacks the pace and zip of Hasan.
I will say Rumman is very good new ball bowler - makes the ball talk in the air and off the wicket.
Not really, in WC2015, they give away 300 against India in MCG. If an SA sid concedes 300+ against an Asian team on bouncy wicket, bowling is not your strength. Similarly in SF, they could not defend 280+ in 40 overs, their bowlers bottled at the end, even they made comical errors in fielding (which is again their strong suite), that was the case in infamous SF, Donald (with all his experience) cannot hold the nerve in last over although while batting, but that was a very choky runout to say the least...Where as our bowling rarely choke, we defend big/small/medium all kind of targets in all kinds of conditions and pressure situations, even when we don't had gun bowlers...They choke as a package![]()
The Fizz has had a torrid 2017. Yadav is hardly picked. Plunkett is bang average. Amir stats wise is not even close, but that outstanding spell in the CT puts him right up there with the best.At a minimum Starc, Rabada and Fizz are superior. Beyond stats even Amir is better as are Umesh and Plunkett.

Think the Fizz is more like Sohail Tanvir. Once his variations were worked out, he's become quite average. In fact, Tanvir had a longer purple patch than the Fizz. The guy is really struggling with form and injuries. Still the best of a sorry bunch of pacers from Bangladesh, I'll give you that.Form vs class wrt Fizz.
I would rename this thread as the "best middle overs bowler in the world".
He is one of the top 4 or 5 pacers in the world still. His variation with the old ball and ability to reverse it makes him so good.

Aus won because of team effort Smith 100 50 and an un beaten 50 in knockouts. Johnson and hazelwood picked important wicket Starc mostly cleaned up the tail. Starc is sometimes overrated. People glorify aussies because they were superb in the past. Starc hasnt done much in ashez eitherIts hard to over take starc in ODIs. For me, he single handedly won australia the world cup 2015. His penchant for taking wickets in bunches is remarkable. Who would have thought this skinny lad would get to 50 wickets so quickly.
He actually is very good with the new ball. He showed that in the PSL. He got very nice out-swing on these flat UAE tracks.Very good bowler . . Love his energy and passion!! He has proved himself to be one of the first picks in the Pakistani XI . .
I hope Hasan Ali is thinking how can I improve and become the best in the world across all formats . .
One thing Hasan Ali should start working on now is learning how to bowl with the new ball . . we all know his skills with the old ball . . but I can think of no great bowler who was a "first change" bowler . . If he can become good with the new ball (especially in test cricket), his wickets will start multiplying with his pace and accuracy! . . tahts the next step Hasan should take . .
Has he ever bowled with new ball?
Hassan Ali is superb. The Pakistani ODI attack is superb.
He will become the best when he stops getting the Waqar treatment and opens with the new ball. Really irritating to see far inferior bowlers opening ahead of him.
He just keeps getting better.
What a special talent he is.
The only time he's not the best is when Amir plays
Both have their owns strengths and weaknesses. Pakistan is lucky to have them both at the moment.Who got more wickets in the CT?

Hasan, but Amir is clearly a better bowler for those that don't judge the caliber of a player by looking at stats.
Trust me, they're very close. Hasan is lethal when the new ball moves around, he doesn't swing it huge like Amir(no one in world cricket does) but he has similar control over it. However, he seams the ball a yard and becomes impossible to play when the pitch has a bit of life.
More than anything, I'm just waiting to see Hasan bowl on a test wicket outside Asia with a new ball.

Better in what sense?
Interested to see which parallel universe you belong in
what a gem this kid has been. Already such an unstoppable force..all he needs in his armory is the ball that slightly moves away from the right handers and he'll be running through sides.

He will become a complete right-hand fast bowler the day he can deliver that ball.
I dont know what you guys are talking about? He already has that ball.
I don't remember him seaming it away from right-handers. He's always made it move the other way e.g Kusal Mendis dismissal in CT17 and Wayne Parnell dismissal again in CT17.
Better at "challenging both edges of the bat" and "looking threatening"
Mohammad Amir fans have only figments of imagination, and a few banana swinging deliveries from 2010, along with a couple of deliveries to dismiss Virat Kohli. Save me the partisan babble, I'd rather not be blinded by this bss
Amir is a new ball bowler and one of the best in the world. Hasan bowls in the middle overs. Different kind of bowlers.
He is one of those individuals who steps up when the stage is big like Starc at the WC. But that is not enough despite their infrequent heroics. His only notable spells have been the one in the 2016 Asia cup match vs India and the CT 17 final, not consistent at all with his new ball bowling.
Starting to see a pattern, he just doesn't give effort in some matches, also could be because of the workload.
We need to save him for top teams and tournaments.

Besides Starc's series against SL in SL, he has been average despite his height and pace. He needs to perfect his back-of-a-lenth delivery. Amir needs to pitch it up while Starc is either too short or full.Stark actually has always been consistent outside of the big stage as well.
Hasan Ali is becoming our Stark
Now it's official.SarfiBabarHaris
