What's new

Hasan Ali's terrible ICC World Cup 2019 performances with the ball

He always had limited potential because of his height. At 5 ft 7, you don't have a lot going for you unless you're bang on the money, which he was in the CT. Outside the purple patch, he's been a toothless bowler in the mould of another midget: Bilawal Bhatti.

Hopefully we drop him forever. Pathetic bowler. Need to replace a lot of the garbage in our team.

Shouldn’t have been playing this game. We are already carrying enough passengers.

He is really struggling- looks short of confidence, strategy and more worryingly, skill levels are poor.

Great bowling coach is trying to fix something with his back leg since Champions Trophy 17 as Ramiz Raja was mentioning. :jk

He really should have been left out this game. Just goes for runs every game and doesn’t provide wickets to compensate.

Lol he is being played primarily for his lower order hitting and batting just like Fakhar Zaman has been given an extended run. Both these players haven't performed for a while. How long can Pakistan be carrying non performers?

Hasan Ali - Has he gone to relaxed?

I feel like he knows Pakistan doesn't have many options when it comes to fast bowling. I feel like he not giving it everything like we saw him in the past, i feel like he is half fit to play and lacks the spark needed. Because i remember even when he was good. he looked determined from his body language. He doesn't have that anymore. He is just the shadow of the past bowler he was from before.

Watching Hasan Ali this WC:

Atleast Fakhar made a century agaisnt England.

Been moaning about him for a while now.. should never had played today.

This should hopefully be his last game for a long while.

Take the game today aside [horrible as his stats are] he's been atrocious for a long time anyway. When you're comfortable with your place in the side your self improvement stagnates or even lowers.

Same people moaning here who wanted Amir dropped for the world cup, and used to claim that Hassan or Shaheen are our bowling leaders.

Shame on these Amir haters.

Hasan Ali has 84 against his name - the most expensive figures by a Pakistani bowler in a World Cup

He is breaking records out there what are we complaining about :yuvi

He should never have been given a free ticket. There is no way Husnain couldve possibly done any worse.

Chief Destroyer must be feeling proud today.

Glorification of Hassan Ali aka another Bilawal Bhatti paid off.

And how Amir was such a terrible bowler. :najam

Leader of the bowling attack?... this joker?

He had a purple patch around CT and that was that..hes not express, doesnt swing or seam the ball consistently and gets no bounce. His honeymoon is over

Look guys Hassan Ali was a good bowler because he nipped the ball back and bowler that good top of off stump line and length. That is missing now. Not sure why but he doesn't target the stumps .

I just don't understand why he's being persisted with. Hasnain should have been given a chance today it's not like he can do worse than Hasan.

looks like azhar hasn't done anything to improve him. Instead hassan went down hill under him. Under muhammad akram at PSL, hassan actually improved.

That should be his last game of the world cup Hes been awful

I can understand him losing nip or movement but there no excuse for bowling short n wide or down legside over and over again against ur field

When Muhammad Akram was the bowling coach of Pakistan around till 2014, our fast bowlers were only declining and weren't doing any better either. It always looks like if that had happened then we would have been better.

Short on confidence, body language looks meek. Don't know what's going on with his mind. Bowling form is in a big big slump for a while now. Doesn't mean that he won't come out of it.
Got a bit egotistic around last year, and his form has been suffering from then.

Should have been dropped in today’s game. He has looked horrible for a long time now.

drop him for husnain for the remainder of the tour.
after current game, our world cup run is probably over

All these retroactive clairvoyants coming out of the woodworks. Yes he sucked today but people would be up in arms if he was dropped for this game considering his performance with the bat in the last game.

Hasnain would have been smashed, Shaheen as well.

Over all poor selection of the squad.

An out of form Hassan and two inexperienced teenagers (Hasnain and Shaheen). Should only have selected one of these, and another experienced bowler. Junaid had a bad series but I would have prefered him over hasnain who is just wasting a spot at this point as he is too green to try in pressure matches.

And to think Amir was about to miss out in this squad :jk

We can learn about the understanding of selectors based on the fact that Hasan was automatic selection and Aamir was not also that Wahab got a chance at the very end.

not just the selectors, what about the bowling coach , head coach and kaptaan (shouting master)

Us fans are to blame too. We hype him and Shadab up, they get complacent and are not fit to tie the shoelaces of our bowling greats.

Look at the Jaspreet and Kuldeep, they work hard at their game and try to improve. I dont see that from Hassan and Shadab.

Shouldn’t have been playing this game. We are already carrying enough passengers.

Shaheen should have played, he is improving with every game. His second spell against Australia showed it. Even Hasnain can't be worst than Hasan.

He averages 94 in 12 ODIs this year at 6.5. So this performance is expected

The Pakistan cricket team has copped a huge amount of criticism for being defeated by India in what was arguably the biggest fixture of the World Cup. The players looked listless and the chasm in quality between this India squad and this Pakistan squad was there for all to see.

Sarfaraz Ahmed, the Pakistan captain was singled out for the highest amount of trolling for his decisions, his fitness levels, the ‘yawn’, and of course, the loss. Now, it seems it is the turn of fast bowler Hasan Ali.

As Indian fans rejoiced the victory on social media, the Pakistani pacer ended up cheering for the Men in Blue.

A journalist had posted a tweet congratulating the Indian team and wishing for them to win the World Cup and make the nation proud. To the tweet, Ali replied, ‘Hogi ap ki dua pori congratulation’ (Translation: Your wish will be fulfilled congratulations).

However, he later deleted the tweet after receiving a lot of flak from fans, who had hoped Pakistan would be able to win the high-octane clash between the two teams.

Amid the mediocre display by the Pakistan cricketers, Hasan Ali’s forgettable performance had stood out in Manchester as he had conceded the highest amount of runs. The right-arm speedster had conceded 84 runs in just nine overs. He took only one wicket, but a very important one, that of Rohit Sharma.

Former pacer Shoaib Akhtar was particularly unforgiving on Hasan Ali in his analysis of the game. “Hasan Ali goes to Wagah Border and jumps around to show off his energy but why can he not display the same energy for Pakistan in the World Cup?” he had asked.

In the rain-hit game at Old Trafford, India scored a massive 336 against Pakistan.

India are one of the two unbeaten teams in the ongoing World Cup, the other being New Zealand. With 7 points, India ranks fourth on the points table and Pakistan is at the penultimate position with 3 points.

Why would Hassan reply to this tweet with this comment? i guess it might have been taken out of context here

What do you expect from a 5’ 8” bowling around 135 kph(average). He has been exposed brutally.

Unnecessary.

Pakistani players need media training.

Pakistan need to kick this egoistic guy. Let him improve his skills in domestic before gets a call for national team.

Hasan ali CAN be a good bowler, if he STOPS bowling short and wide!
He has the problem, all these bowlers have, except for amir, which is they can't bowl with the new ball. Amir can bowl with the new ball, but is not taking wickets with the new ball.
Pak need to stop picking old ball players and start picking new ball wicket taking players. Husnain, shaheen both should be groomed for new ball bowling.
Shaheen is in terrible form and should not be selected, so go with amir, wahab(old ball bowler) and husnain.
Safi PLEASE give amir and husnain 2 slips, regardless of the runs leaked.
The real solution was - HARIS RAUF!
Bet mickey is regretting not bringing rauf and shinwari to this wc!

He is the main reason Pakistan been leaking alot of runs on the other end.
AMIR try to creat pressure and as soon as he comes all the presure is wasted.

We shouldv had Ruman raees or any other bowler in his place

Thats because hasan is an old ball bowler!
Haris rauf, shinwari, ruman raes or even M. abbas would have been better partners for amir. But the last 2 lack of pace would worry me!
My choice would have been haris rauf!

They dont look that impressive with their speed and action.

What about umaid asif
He is tall and a good action also

When Hassan Ali was on the top of his game, I kept repeating that his ways and skills will never make him a top bowler in the world . . . At best he will be a steady bowler . . aka a Liam Plunkett . . Hassan Ali in his prime was essentially a one trick pony . . Get the ball to tail in (reverse) in the middle overs and keep line and length consistent . .

The moment he stops tailing the ball in, he has to do something different to get wickets . . and his lines and lengths go off . . develops bad habits . .

Even if he isn't getting the ball to tail back in, the thing about Hassan during those days was that his line and length was impeccable so he game the captain a bit of control . . I haven't paid too much attention to whether something has gone wrong technically which is why he has become erratic . .

Regardless, if Hassan is to redeem himself, he needs to do 2 things:
1. Work on becoming a good new ball bowler . . He has no skills with the new ball currently
2. Get his lines and lengths back to where they were . .

The guy showed a lot of promise with almost all fans raving abotu the fact that we have found a fantastic bowler . . he maintained it for a good year and a half to 2 . . you don't just lose ability overnight . . he has it in him . . he needs to work harder and he needs a mentor who can work with him on the sidelines! Not Azhar Mahmood! . . Pakistan doesn't play much cricket after the world cup . . I sincerely hope that he puts in the work required and comes back a better bowler!

Average against top 6 teams (England, India, Australia, NZ, SA, and Bangladesh) since he feasted damn well against Zimbabwe (key players rested):
2017: 22.73
2018: 48.30
2019: 96.00

So I don't think he had 1.5-2 good years. He had only 1 good year which now looks more of an aberration.

It seems Pakistan management has taken notice, Hasan has been dropped for the match vs SA.

Its no surprise Hes been given plenty of chances to rectify his performances which have been awful for several months now

Its a shame because on form he was a banker

He will come back, it's not as if we are teaming with fastish bowlers. He needs to back to basics of line length as he has no control and bowls rubbish.

Why the hype? He is crap.

Had one good tournament. Shows he was never really good just had a purple patch. Amir on the other hand had 2 good years and moments of brilliance since his return which are proof of the fact that Amir is all class where as Hasan may have never really been good.

Hope I'm wrong and he can turn it around but I really doubt it.

So something to cheer about.

The problem with modern cricket is that you cannot stand still; you have to evolve.
When he came in he was new, energetic, arrogant and had balls that people were not picking. But 2 years down the line, people have worked him out and he is no threat now. On his part, he has not worked on his bowling and not improved.
As in all forms of cricket, a newbie comes in and creates havoc. But after a while people work out a suitable defence and he becomes less threatening. Example, look at Mendis - when he first came in his spin was unplayable and he was running rings around batsman. But within a year or two they worked him out and he bacame a nobody.
Successful players are those who improve and evolve all the time, staying ahead of the pack. Warne, Murli, Akram....come to mind.

Challo another thing to remember for Hasan Ali!

Pakistan side celebrating his birthday.

End of Road For Hassan Ali

With Aamir, Wahab, Shaheen settled, and Hussnain, Harris Rauf and Naseem Shah pushing and pushing and pushing to find place in the XI, are we sure this is the end for Hasan Ali?

Personally i would not let him come anywhere near the team after the way he played that shot against WI... complete joker ....

for number lovers

in 2019

12 matches, 7 wickets, 90 avg, and 6.6 economy

After winning the CT17 the likes of shadab safraz hasan faheem thought they were the ones..

Thats like villa winning the championship play off final & claiming to be champions league winners.
