He looked so bad against NZ in the T20s..liked they picked a supporter to play from the stands to open the batting.. Looks like not much has changed. I am all for players given a fair chance but this guy is not international material yet, if at all.

Poor guy finally got a game but couldn't score a run off 12 balls. When luck is not on your side and you know that you only have one game to impress everyone, such things happen.

We need people like him to prove their mettle quick so Rizwan can just continue to focus on his batting in the ODI team. Otherwise he will have to resume his duties as a wicketkeeper!

In that 12 ball duck, he almost got out even earlier, with a wild swipe across the line when the dots were adding up. It was pure luck the ball wasn’t straighter, or he’d been likely bowled or lbw as he was swinging without looking at the ball.

What worried me is the inability to rotate the strike. With the utmost respect to our Lankan guests, they are not the strongest team in the world and their bowlers are far from the best. On a 300 par score surface with no real demons and gentle bowlers, the inability to rotate the strike even once in 12 balls is a big red flag. Dot dot dot slog is not what we want and if you can’t rotate the strike, then you simply can’t be in the team long term.
