Have Bangladesh and Pakistan exchanged their position in international cricket?

They have the better spinners and batsmen and more well balanced side, Pakistan to be honest has punched above its weight in this world cup given the amount of weaknesses and issues in the team. Also considering our recent head to heard record against Bangladesh and the fact they are knocked out of the tournament, they will turn up to play without much pressure and at stake, all the pressure will be on Pakistan

What head to head record are you taking about?
4-0? 3 out of these 4 matches were in 2015.

They have decent spinners nothing world class.
When has their batting chased down 300+ except against the broken wi side?
It's a good batting lineup but nothing to write home about.
 
Bangladesh is basically Shakib or bust.
Lack of depth in bowling apart from Shakib and Mustafiz.
Lack of depth in batting apart from Shakib.

The amount of praise it received was all hype. Getting out on slow deliveries, dragging the bowl into stumps with the wrong angle of the bat, was a shocker for me.

They could'nt challenge any team in top 5.

Soft dismissals against India shows they have lot of work to do.

It won’t be an easy game of course. I don’t understand why our fans are so confident. Bangladesh know to beat Pakistan . We can beat them but I won’t sit here and say it’s a certainty.

Obviously it's not a definite win. But it shouldn't be as close a contest as some people are claiming it to be. It's definitely not 50 50. It's more 70-30 to pak.
 
Bangladesh should be very proud of their performances and efforts at this World Cup:

Comfortably beat South Africa
Lost narrowly to New Zealand O
utplayed West Indies
Scored their highest ever ODI total in the match versus Australia
Scored a respectable 286 versus India
 
Friday is the mother if all battles... loser is the official minnow end of.
 
The usual days have returned where bangladesh has been shown their actual position.
 
You must be very deluded to think oppositions will take Pakistan more lightly than Bangladesh.
 
This guy Athar Ali Khan is an abs shame to cricket commentary. At this level you cannot be this biased. He pratically couldnt speak when Shaheen Aftidi bowled Mehmadullah. Abs shamefull.

Just see the commentary when mahmudullah got out. He litrally went squeaking. Also when imam was nearing his 100 the other commentator started saying “its a good chance for imam to get his name on honors” and this is where he junped in and started talking abt tamim. For love of God have SOME sense of nutralism

BD was probably second best (in ODI) a year ago but that has changed now. This Pakistan team is much more polished. Babar, Haris, and Shaheen should form the backbone for years to come.

Well done, Pakistan. Better team won today.

Athar is biased. I admit it as BD fan. He is the best commentator we got unfortunately. Rest are worse.

I too personally feel Pakistan is the 4th best ODI team, better than SA and NZ.

Hahaha I have to say after the Asia Cup loss certain doubts crept into my mind but now those doubts have dissipated, normal service has resumed.

Exactly... you eloquently put in words what I was trying to explain. It is not Pakistani fitrat to accept second best sitting down, I guess.
 
Pakistan is clearly the best team after Australia and India. Its a tragedy on how we missed out on the semi qualification. I am supporting Australia.

I don't think anyone wants to see Australia win another World Cup. They don't even care about them anymore. And they will literally forget about in a month (if they win) when the Ashes come around.

England are the deserved victors and the best side in the world too. Hope they win.

Neither of England ( lost to SRL of all teams lmao), India ( for how they played against England) and NZland (barely managed to enter the top 4, and boring af) deserve to win the WC. Australia caring about WC doesnt matter, what matters is their claim to the throne which is the most solid.

What about Australia's drubbing at the hands of India? The margin may not have been as comprehensive because of Carey's late hitting but that was practically a drubbing. Australia were never in the game, their best bowler got taken to school by the Indian batsmen while their best batsman played one of the worst knocks of the tournament.

Australia have played well but they have also been lucky because their main players (Finch, Warner, Starc and Cummins) have played so well that their flaws such as the fifth-bowling option, the pancake spinners and the fragile lower middle-order have not been so overtly exposed. They are also a little lucky that none of their games got rained out and two games which they could have easily lost happened to be against the teams that are masters in the art of self-destructing.

The way I see it, if any team plays out the opening spell of Starc, Cummins and maybe Behrendorff (if he's on song) without much damage then the other bowlers can easily be taken for a ride and 300 can be amassed without much fuss.

BD is at the least equal of Pak in UAE/Asian conditions. And probably in Aus as well.

They are much worse in English conditions.

Looking at the bigger picture, I'd predict Bangladesh to have a rosier future (3-5 years) than Pakistan tbh, in both Tests and LoIs.

That was a one off. Before that the 3 matches won by BD were in 2015 against Misbah's pathetic team. Pakistan isnt the same anymore.

Kindly think and look at the general history of the two teams. 5 matches ago, Pakistan had a world record winning streak against Bangladesh. Just 5 matches ago. The Asia cup match can be called a one off looking at the history of these two teams. 2015 was a good achievement for BD but dont forget you guys beat India and South Africa during that time too. Will that make you a better team than India if you beat India just once more?

BD is a good team now which can hold its own against good teams but some of the glaring issues which the team suffers from will ensure that they will mostly fall short of beating good teams regularly.
 
Time will tell which of the results was the one-off, Pak vs BD will happen again in UAE over the winter.

Not a 'Deshi but obviously want them to do well. Cricket needs every nation which cares to do well.

They were my second team in this world cup. I want them to do well and if they fix their bowling iand batting in some positions then they can cause trouble to any team. At the moment, they are far away from achieving it.
 
Throughout the 90s and until 2004/04 I always felt India was only third best team in Asia behind both Pak and Srilanka. Team go up and down but what I am yet to see is Bangladesh wining anything.

They dont have any exciting new talent in batting. Likes of mushi shakib tamim riyadh have played their 3rd or 4th WC. I dont know what will happen after they leave.
May be Liton can take 5-6 years of international exposure to improve like mushfiq did
 
no fast bowlers that can take wickets up front... ageing stars who will lose the shine in next few months (Tamim is almost gone , Sakib/Mushfiq to follow) only strength is probably the duo of Mutafiz n Mehdi .. apart from that no youngster.... doubt they will b strong force anytime soo

In Test, Pakistan should whitewash BD. BD is a complete minnow in Test. To be fair, our fans and possibly players don't care a lot about Test. We barely play any Test.

In ODI, it can go either way. On Asian pitches, BD is much better in ODI.

In T20, Pakistan should win comfortably. Pakistan is master in T20.
