I don't seem to recall - if our Test form against Australia has picked up in recent times, our ODI team still struggles.

I don't recall us ever scoring 300+ against Australia - has it happened?

I think we have scored 300+ against every other nation though.

Yes once I think and they chased it because Gilly and Ponting both got tons. This was some time in the late 90s.

Expect a few 300 plus scores against Australia this year in the ODIs but winning will be very difficult.

Yousuf hit a four on the last ball of first inning to get his 100. Pakistan scored 300+ but Pakistan still lost. I think it was played in 1998 at Karachi stadium.

Thank you!

I knew it happened because I watched it live and I even remember it was a straight hit of a fast bowler.

Np - Moyo really had a good tournament in Asia Cup 2000 and become a wonderful ODI batsman after that.

i was listening to this match on radio

i remember my uncle saying after yosuf hit the six that he is a class batsman.

it was around 4 pm. The signal was weak from Radio pakistan islamabad.

Yeah I remember it too! Damn - cannot believe more than 16 years have passed since!

I also remember our opening game against Bangadesh in Asia Cup 2000 where we scored 320! I remember being really excited when Afridi was bashing the Bangadeshi bowlers all over the park lol

Was it the same Asia cup in which Moin khan took Jayasuriya to cleaners in the final?

Australia has a similar level of record against us like we have against BD.

We have been their whipping boys for a long time.

However now the Aussie team isn't as dangerous as it used to be and we are slowly and steady shedding the Misbah-mentality in ODIs. Just need to get rid of Misbah junior and then we should rise up the rankings rapidly.

We beat them in the 2011 WC game but that was the last time we beat them in a significant game. Lost all bilterals against them after that...

Still have good record against them in T20's though.

Aus-Pak could be a high scoring series. India averaged 314 against Aus in the recent five ODIs series.

Hopefully we will in the next series. I want to see Sharjeel score a match-winning hundred.

The two times we scored 300+ against their atg teams they chased them down in both formats one was a record chase.

Uhh actually in t20s as well Goddamn.. :ajmal

Guess we are scared of them.

Lahore '98. First & probably only ODI with 4 centuries in it.

One of the worst ever defense I have seen in my life & I have seen lot. 25+ wides & no balls, another 25+ from regulation miss field (I think, 3 boundaries went between legs with batsman walking for single); 2 or 3 sitter dropped.

That was last match (dead rubber) in a 3-0 loss, and I still am not sure if everything was right in that match - no professional side can field so ugly. It started with PAK picking one of the most undeserving players ever - some Mahmoud; he looked more inept than Zulfi Babar with bat.

A special statistic regarding our ODI record against Australia

It is well known that our ODI record against Australia is extremely poor and so our occasional wins against them e.g. 2011 WC and the 2nd ODI in 2017 should certainly be cherished.

However - what is not so widely regarded is that we do occasionally play well against them.

We have scored 300+ against them twice (once in 1998 in Peshawar and again in 2017 during the 5th ODI when we were chasing 369). Unfortunately we lost on both occasions and so it remains the only insistence of a team having never beaten another team whenever they have posted 300+ in ODI's. The sample size is not great (2 matches) but it is what it is.

India have beaten us a few times when we scored 300+ against them. Most notably during the 2012 Asia Cup final and also during the 1st ODi in Karachi in 2004 (which I believe remains our highest score in an ODI loss) but we have also beaten them several times whilst posting 300+.

Saleem Malik and Aamer Sohail bowled as many over between them as the two front line pacers, Wasim Akram and Shoaib Akhtar. ;)
