Share your experience and process that you went through. Was it worth it ? When and where did you get them done ? How bad was your eye sight ? How is it now ?

Yes i got my lasik surgery done few years ago. The whole procedure was painless and was over in a matter of 15 minutes. I would highly recommend it. In usa it is seen as cosmetic surgery and is not covered in insurance so i got it done in LV prasad eye hospital in hyderabad. After surgery you are not allowed to go out in the sun for a week or so or watch Tv or read plus u are to wear googles and use eye drops every 4 hours for 2 weeks. Regarding my eye sight i could not see far away things. I never bothered with spectacles as i would see from near. While driving i wore glasses that's about it. But then i started getting severe headaches and the doctor asked me to wear glasses frequently while working etc which i was'nt so keen on so i decided to get lasik done. I would suggest you to get it done sooner than later so that u can benefits of the surgery for a long time.

Thanks for sharing your experience. How much does it cost in India ? I have high astigmatism and it will cost me about $5000 for both eyes.

Right now i don't remember just give me some time and i will let you know. It will be way way cheaper than the amount you have quoted. $5000 for each eye is very very high.

In Europe this procedure might cost you around 4000 – 6000 Euros while in USA it might cost you $9000. In India this surgery is pretty reasonable and use the latest technology which is at par with international standards. At private hospitals in India, the cost of Lasik surgery is between Rs. 25,000 – Rs. 40,000.Dec 9, 2015

That is literally 10times cheaper. My uncle got it in 2008 in India. He is 60 and his eye sight is still good. But the flight tickets costs like $1200+ and I don't have any plan on going to India or SL. I also get life time warranty so if my eye sight regresses, I can get it again. Thanks for the information.

A friend of mine got it done for Rs 10,000 for each eye at Little Flower Eye Hospital in Kerala and highly recommends the procedure.

Planning on getting it done. To those who have got it done, can your eyes be only weak to a certain point else the surgery won't be that effective?

I don't rememer exactly what the doctor told me. but what i understood is they check ur eyesight and other tests depending on your eye condition and let you know whether even after the surgery it may become better but will still not be 100% perfect vision. In my case i had no such problems as eyesight problem was not severe

Its reasonable to get it done in U.S now. I had done 2 years ago, and paid $3000
now i think its even cheaper, might cost you only 2500 for both eyes.
also, depends how weak your vision is too, there are few more factors, there are two type of surgeries as well, as far i remember. One which is done throw rays, and an other where they place a lens in your eyes.
Experience:
pro: no need for glasses till I reach 40, then i was told might need reading glasses.
Cons: My eyes are sensitive to light when driving, but I am still able to drive without sun glasses.

Both my elder sisters did it and I got it done too, two days before India vs bangladesh 2011 world cup.

Was told not to watch TV for a few days but didn't bother listening. Should have listened :P :sehwag

It cost 42,000 taka in Bangladesh. Took ten minutes to be done and was given eye drops that had to be usedonce every 4-6 hours.

So far so good.

I got it done a few years ago in Mumbai for INR 50k both eyes. The actual procedure itself did not take a whole minute. It takes a few minutes for those who cant keep their eyes open for a few seconds looking into the light.

Now they have this thing called Custom Wavefront Lasik. It is slight more expensive, nearly all the reputable Lasik locations have them now a days. It is more advanced, it kinda takes finger print like thing in your eyes and gives them a much more accurate and a detailed information about your eyes. The standard procedure uses glasses prescription like tests. The Custom Wavefront Lasik has 75% chance of giving you a 20/15 vision (better than 20/20). People with high prescription, astigmatism and bigger pupils are recommended to get the Custom Wavefront Lasik than standard. If your vision isn't too bad you can get the standard one.

They only seem to have gotten expensive now. They are like $5000 lol.

I'm gonna get it done in the future probably when I finish my studies, but still not decided which one; LASIK/LASEK/PRK. I've got myopia (shortsighted)

As soon as I turn 20 I'm getting it. Hate wearing glasses every time I go to class or watch tv

Technology is a lot better these days to when this first came into the market.

I thought about getting this done but too scared to :)

Literally the same reason why I don't want to get it done. Too scared.

It's 20 in Canada?

IIRC 21 in US. And same. Once in a while glasses are fine as an accessory, but don't want to be handicapped by them for your whole life.

Anything eye related freaks me out though, at the same time I don't think it's possible to do it with anesthesia either, so I will have to bear whatever comes my way.

When are you doing it ?

If I don't comeback here after today, it means my surgeon made me go blind. Love you all.

When are you doing it ?

When I graduate iA. Don't want to complicate the college years with surgery shenanigans not to mention costs.

Good luck with your surgery though, let us know how it goes, esp procedure which kind of freaks me out but I know I need it.

Where are you bro??

Does it mean..................... :42: :59:

I'm not blind yet. I had to be away from computer and phone for a day so I didn't com on here. The doctor messed my flap on my right eye and it is kinda weak. I have to go again tomorrow have it re done. Thanks for asking :*

Oh man, best of luck.

Redoing eye surgery.. :danish

yeah please let us know how it goes.

It is a painless procedure. i paid $3500 and got it done on one eye. They dont promise 20/20 vision. you have to keep getting correctionals done if u see fuzzy lines. you will face hard time in night (driving wise, halo's) and u might see dbl edged on the inside of ur eye. at first i was happy but as time went by i was only dissapointed. thats my experience.

Bump.

Has anyone got it done recently in the UK? How much did it cost and are you satisfied with the experience and would you recommend it to others?

Where did you get it done in Bangladesh?

Is the experience still a positive one a year and a half later?

I have a really hard time keeping my eyes open when anything is near them which is why I can't use contacts. Will this be a problem during surgery?

How long did you have to keep using eye drops after the surgery? I'm really bad at following medical instructions.

I know a friend of mine who has had to use extremely high powered specs since the age of around 6. Basically the guy turned blind without his glasses. He underwent laser surgery some 4 years ago and now he doesn't even need glasses anymore.

A big question that comes to mind is that because laser eye surgery has not been around long enough, the stats are not there yet to indicate how it affects your eyes in later life as you get older. With glasses, based on the experiences of elderly family and friends, you just keep changing your prescriptions as your eyesight changes during old age. But how do your eyes cope if you've had laser surgery when younger?

Anyone have any info?

I had LASIK some 8 months ago, it's completely painless but bit terrifying with all the noise from the machine and a bit of pressure felt in the eye. My eyes were bad bad, like -9 in left and -13 in right eye. Thankfully, my cornea was thick enough to do the surgery. Even then I have -1 power in right eye while left eye is operating at optimum level.
