Hong Kong Super Sixes 2012: FINALS: South Africa win - beat Pakistan by 37 runs

Kamran akmal out. How many wickets are Pakistan left with now?

With these players, we were bound to win ! Committee bithao aur tafteesh karo hahahha

colin ingram, david millers and wayne parnel where in the SA side. dont get why people are laughing at pakistan.

pakistan had umar, junaid and hammad, among which only umar akmal is a t20 star, the 3 players from SA are very good as well.......the best team in this tournament without question

Pak lost even when their board considered this as the World Cup! :)))

How exactly did the board consider this as a world cup? They sent comparatively better players than anyone else but that just means they wanted to win it more than anyone else. Maybe that's because of the large prize money available for such a small tourney. At least we got to the final, unlike another team who came out with the intention to win it with a 'strong team'...

“This is the first time the Indian team has been selected with the unique format of the Sixes in mind and I believe we have one of the best combinations,” warned Vivek Bakshi, manager of the Indian squad.
“The entire nation expects the team to perform at their best and win this tournament. Also I personally expect that all the players will leave no stone unturned as they seek to win but at the same time play the game in a very disciplined manner,” Bakshi added.

yes,..we expected suniyal and co to beat kamran, umar, junaid :)))

I'm still in shock as to how Junaid and Hamaad can play this 6's tourney and not be selected for the T20 Worldcup!

Selectors really need to be sacked and a new panel of democratically appointed selectors have to be put in place.

Board considered as the World Cup? What a poor comment. I'm sure if they considered it the 'World Cup' Saeed Ajmal at the very least would have been involved? Or was he dropped for the HK Sixes?

If it makes you feel better to believe that, I'm ok with it, but it doesn't stack up with reality.

I m surprised this has ICC affiliation.standards r worse than charity games:facepalm:

It appears to be fans from a certain country that are laughing at Pakistan.

This comment may cause consternation but myself and probably the majority of cricket fans view this tournament as only a few rungs below the IPL.

This is quite often where the difference of opinion between the IPL's domestic audience and those based overseas is represented but aside from the significant finances within the IPL, I certainly see parallels between that and the HK Sixes.

Both are essentially soulless hit and giggle affairs.

i think the kind of hatred is coming from a pakistani esp. after the exclusion of pakistani players from IPL.

To be honest HK6s is a tournament just for fun whilst in IPL you do see proper cricket being played. What gayle and narine did in IPL, they did the same in Intl cricket. It also makes no sense to claim that quality of cricket in SLPL and BPL is a joke.

Lol @ some Indians here. Yes we did send our international players, but it's not like Tanvir Ahmed, Hammad, Zia, Yasir are superstars. They are international players who have played just 2-3 international games. The only 'proper' international players we had were Kamran, Umar, and Junaid somewhat. And even SA had 2-3 proper international crcketers which is why we lost to them twice. Imagine the Indians picked the following players: Manoj Tiwary, Ajinkya Rahane, Umesh Yadav, Parthiv Patel, Pujara, Varun Aaron, Piyush Chawla- Would you consider them as a very good team, just because each player has played 1-5 international games?

And BTW, congrats to SA. :14: And well done Pakistan, good effort.

Depends on your definition of proper cricket - this isn't a T20 vs Tests argument either, but a proper T20 vs hit and giggle matches where players are solely there to earn big money.

The quality of cricket in the IPL, SLPL, BPL is a joke. As I said, the HK sixes is quite a few rungs below the IPL, but there are parallels in the artificial nature of both competitions.

Gayle and Narine may do in the IPL what they do in international cricket, but it's easier for them to do in the IPL, because the quality is lower. And they are good players - there are a lot of rubbish players who excel in domestic tournaments who cannot replicate their form at international level. Those players far outnumber the Gayles and Narines of this world.

The same people belittling this tournament, although it is only a bit of fun, fiercely defend their own domestic leagues when in reality unless you have some personal investment in them (mostly from the home audience), to the outside observer they are just as arbitrary.

HK Sixes and IPL of the same standard? :pissed:
If you're referring to my post, please point out exactly where I said IPL and HK Sixes were of the same quality.

If you can't, then you are getting unnecessarily angry.

the quality of cricket is certainly better in intl cricket than IPL,BBL etc,as u would expect for any DOMESTIC tourney, but its still serious cricket unlike HK6s.for a start the playing conditions are the same.the selections to intl T20 teams are made on them.n various other factors, its not a hit n giggle

Absolutely. In IPL/BBL/other domestic T20s the bowlers actually run in and give their 100%. Here the bowlers (especially Aus and SA) are jogging in and bowling at 110 kph where in domestics they would bowl 135+. You can't compare HK to domestic tournaments.
