Okay so I am a big buff for horror movies, novels and paranormal stuff.

Haven't seen a thread like this on PP. So anyone who has heard a good horror/ghost story or a weird paranormal encounter that either you or someone you know had happened to, kindly share here.

Please do not need to hear stuff like ghosts are not real, paranormal stuff is not real. Just contribute please.

I have not encountered anything supernatural myself. However, as a Muslim, I believe in Jinn world.

Tried calling my best friend's grandmother's spirit in 2004 using Ahuja Board. It was a success. But haven't tried anything like that since then. Will never try it in the future as well, it's dangerous.

My uncle had a phase of "befriending jinns". On late night evening walks, whenever the stray dogs will bark at us, he would casually raise his hands and nearly a dozen dogs would stop barking at once.

Lol, its Ouija not Ahuja

India is famous for Jinns and spirits. Even if you google jinn stories, threads about paranormal encounters in India would be on amongst the top.

It's Ouijwa (pronounced as weejee)

Can you tell what sort of thing it is?

There are a few movies based on it as well but they don't delve into the board itself.

I believe these stories are all over the world. But, other cultures may not use the word "Jinn". They may call the entities by other names.

The most common one is urinating under a tree can result in a jinn possessing the individual. I was once about to do that in Pak until some cousin yelled me not to do that. Years later met this guy who said he was being harassed by some spirit for doing exactly the same thing...he was seeing some baba with a black cat every night who would talk in a language unknown to him. I am so glad my cousin stopped me from doing that.

I haven't heard about that ever.

There is a perfect scientific explanation for every paranormal or Jinn/Bhoot stuff that people experience.

Human brain is an extraordinary thing. Hallucinations are not real. But they are very real for the person experiencing it.

We wrote all the alphabets, numbers from 0 to 9, an YES, and a NO on a piece of paper. We than placed a coin in the middle of the piece of paper, both me and my mother placed our index fingers on the coin, and tried calling her spirit with our eyes closed. To our surprise, the coin started moving in no time at all.

It was the year 2003 or 2004, I don't recall exactly. I then read scriptures from the Bible where it says never to do such a thing, and even called such activities as playing with fire. Haven't tried it after then.

It is a common belief that ghosts or spirits reside under tree's. As it is their home urinating or dirtying their home is to be avoided at all costs.

People in rural areas of Pakistan still do that daily.

I have some of these boards are real while a lot of it is fake as well. But a few religious scholars have forbidden to engage in participating stuff like Ouija cause there is a certain satanic/supernatural element to it.

It's best not to engage in such activities. You fall into legal trouble, a lawyer will help you. You have a disease or suffer an accident, a doctor will help you. God forbid, if you ever fall into trouble tying such things, who will help you? There's no one to help you in such a case. Better to avoid them. I was barely 17 years old when I tried it. So in a way, I was still immature at that time. Actually, I heard a few of my friends trying it successfully. So I mistakenly got inspired by them.

I think it's the mystique and curiosity of the supernatural/paranormal that leads people into trying that.
That's why I believe it's best to live by a code. Some things do exist and it's best to stay away from them.

Exactly, my same sentiments.

I’ve had a few experiences which I cannot frame in (current) scientific terms.

I was around 14 when a group of us tried this. One was a Welsh chap who didnt want to take part as he had a previous bad experience(he was the only one who believed). The rest as kids do laughed. We didnt take it seriously, some were trying to move the coin. Yet out of the blue the Welsh kid started to headbutt the pavement, not one but a few times very hard. We threw the board away and coin, was a pretty scary experience at the time. Never touched it again.

I think leaving such experiments in the middle can also be of serious consequences at times.

In the middle?

I think the kid had some sort of mental health issues. A year or so later, he was sent to prison for stabbing someone. I didnt know him well tho.

There's a lot that happens to almost everyone what they can't explain realistically or scientifically.

We are also in infancy when it comes to science. As a Muslim I do believe in entities which are not human, which are made from different materials, unseen to the eye. Can they hurt you if you call them or invite them, maybe. Stories pop up daily from all nations and groups.

London underground is said to be 'haunted'.

Hmm entirely possible. Although ladbible isn't a very reliable place for news.

I do believe they have a world of their own. Can they voluntarily interfere in ours. Can't say.

Sure it was to show stories appear regularly.

What I find interesting is the same figure/character appearing in numerous nations/cultures and in various times in history.

Eg.

La Llorona - This is a woman with long black hair, often wearing a white gown. I believe such a figure is also in Pakistani culture, western culture, south American culture, South Asian culture, Japan calls her Ringu. These stories go back hundreds of years or longer.

P.s I would love to see something supernatural.

Man, that sounds scary. It's good you haven't tried it since. Better to avoid things we have no control over.

A funny thing about human curiosity is once a myth is told repeatedly, it births a question whether there is certain truth to it or not. I think the best example is Nessie of Scotland. Although I would very much like it to be true, but I don't think it exists (anymore). Even if it did, it would have died by now.

There's also another conspiracy theory about the pyramids housing some monster called Leviathan if my memory serves correct.

But I do think of all these things, ghosts/jinns/spirits etc are the most likely beings to actually make appearance once in a while. (And Yes I do believe jinns are real as our religion tells us). I don't know about evil spirits or hauntings etc.

There's also a place in Salalah, Oman, a road where negative gravity is believed to exist. It is said if you put your car in neutral there, it starts going uphill there.

One thing is for sure black magic and voodoo and stuff are extremely real. There are a lot of documentaries about researchers finding evidence of these rituals in tribes of Brazil and South Asia.

There is no doubt about it. Even Quran says magic exists.

And they followed [instead] what the devils had recited during the reign of Solomon. It was not Solomon who disbelieved, but the devils disbelieved, teaching people magic and that which was revealed to the two angels at Babylon, Harut and Marut. But the two angels do not teach anyone unless they say, "We are a trial, so do not disbelieve [by practicing magic]." And [yet] they learn from them that by which they cause separation between a man and his wife. But they do not harm anyone through it except by permission of Allah . And the people learn what harms them and does not benefit them. But the Children of Israel certainly knew that whoever purchased the magic would not have in the Hereafter any share. And wretched is that for which they sold themselves, if they only knew. (Al-Quran - 2:102).

How do you know its a female?

Because it had female face . Also it had vermillion on its forehead . It also was wearing a saree ( a female dress ). She had her hair tied in a bun.

It was basically a female hindu jinn.

Black magic does exist but these days 99 % people who claim to do that are fraud. It is not easy to do black magic. You need a big heart for that , and need to sell your soul to satan.

Boring thread, instead of sharing encounters, posters rumbling on real/fake.

There was djinn or ghost thread here, good stories. One of my all time favourite threads on pakpassion. Do give it a read BunnyRabbit

This thread can be merged with it

Yes people are fascinated by supernatural or creatures which we think dont exist. A lot of stories are simply made up esp regarding monsters or creatures. Loch Ness monster was a hoax. If it existed it would be easy to find in the lake. However there may be creatures deep in the oceans we have not discovered.

The unseen is different, so far its impossible to prove or disprove. The universe is huge, its daft to think there cant be entities which exist but cant be seen.

Ive been to Jinn Valley which is outside of Medina to try this myself. The car does move by itself, if driving it goes faster without hitting the gas pedal. Its really cool in a very dramatic valley but this is explained by science. Jinns probably have better things to do than push cars all day long.

Yes it's interesting. In my opinion it's more likely to find supernatural entities on earth rather than the fast outreaches of spaces whose limits we can not even comprehend.

And may be many get possessed by spirits as well.

Can't say for sure. Plus there's some good degree of overlap between psychiatric conditions and possessions. For example, I saw a patient in Psych ward who was kept away from other patients and was always restrained because he would see snakes everywhere all the time and would act aggressively in response to that.

Thing is in Islam we are told about the existence of djinn. Many do have psychological problems that are perceived as being possessed.

Yes jinns and black magic are real. But we can't always attribute every case of psychosis to be related to that and vice versa.

That is down to experience. The jinn has to live somewhere on earth.

I have personally seen things which one would say was out of a movie. No scientific reason and those rare thing I have seen/experienced were absolutely real and happened right in front of me, and no it wasn't Halloween, neither a person faking it nor hallucination. Such things exist, glad haven't experienced it for the longest time.

Doing potent black magic is not easy , it is very difficult thing.

In black magic there are two kinds . One is where some entity is summoned , another where you simply practice some rituals. The former is very dangerous as well as difficult , latter is relatively easier.

Huge fan of horror and all forms, reality based and fiction.

I’ve been reading Stephen King’s Night Shift, a brilliant collection of short stories and also a Vampire anthology going all the way back to the 18th century I believe. Also recommend MR James Ghost Stories.

Currently reading Dracula, what a novel man.

If you guys like reality based stuff, check out The Uncanny on either BBC Sounds or Spotify, the host interviews people telling real life stories of hauntings, supernatural experiences etc and during the stories the host takes a pause to debate with experts on the possibilities, some are believers and others skeptics so you get an objective view on what may have happened

Lol I feel like you are my mirror image in some aspects. Night Shift was the first Stephen King's book I read. I actually have all his anthology collection except for If It Bleeds.
Also loved MR James Ghost Stories. Had to search whole islamabad/pindi to find it.

Have you seen Ghost Watch? The reality tv sort of horror movie featuring the great Michael Parkinson playing himself in a movie. It's a BBC movie that aired way back in 1992 as sort of a live thing. It spooked the audience so much that BBC received some record number of calls during it's transmission.

Totally agree there lol

What is your favourite story from Night Shift? I found the boogeyman to be the most frightening given how reality based it was and the subtle mental health themes, his flow and use of language is incredible really, rarely have I seen a writer produce such compelling narratives with a few words and simple language, there was line along the lines of the cupboard being open “just a crack” and it hits you in the context of the story, ironically while reading that I had a cupboard which would always be open just a crack and wouldn’t close :))

Any MR James favourites?

Not seen Ghost Watch, but heard that was like our blair witch project before there was blair witch project :))

I know what you need (voodoo stuff, like this thread title)
Night Surf (realise now that it's soo much like COVID pandemic)

For MR James: Number 13 and Barchester Cathedral or something.

There is this series dreamscapes and nightmares that has developed some of King's short stories into one episode story. It's pretty good actually the first episode is adapted from The Battleground that is in Night Shift i think.

I'd say Ghostwatch is actually good cause stuff happens in it while in Blair Witch, nothing really happens and they just keep moving in a loop plus the camera was extremely shaky and distracting in Blair Witch.

Well,
Am going to start of by giving me own experiences.
I am from the UK, but was married in the city of Gujrat, Islam Nagar. Pakistan in 2014.
The family home in Pakistan was rented out we asked the tenants to vacant the home for a while. The tenants were a religious family by my knowledge.
We moved in after my wedding.
After a few days the gas heater ' knob' or what ever you call it there flew of by force and the light was alight with fire.
This was creepy as we were all sat in one of the rooms talking.

My brother said he was asleep and woke up still sleepy to see a shadow at the corner.
Apparently, he had his feet facing the Quran and other religious books.

I was on the bed preparing to go asleep.
I felt a ' thud' in the middle of the blankets where my knees were.
My wife did not do that.
Nothing fell on the bed.

We always heard honkies braying at night.

This was my experience while I was there.
Nothing scary I know.

We arrived back to the UK.

Once I was in a Barclays Bank, waiting in line to deposit cash. I had the cash in my hand while both arms were around my back.
I was chilling in line waiting my turn to go to the counter.
I felt someone trying to pull the cash out of my hand. I turned around only to see other people but this person behind me was quite a distance away.

In 2015 I went to visit my wife who was still in Pakistan.
We were staying at a rented home.
The tv network would end at 11 pm .
This was a set time. Tv shows/ channels would end at 11 pm. If you did not switch of the tv with the remote it will make that static noise and show that ' snowy' screen
We fell asleep before 11 while there was a drama playing.
11 pm struck the network went of ands the usual static and snowy screen started.
I was still sleepy and I said to my wife to
' switch of the tv'
She switched it off.

After some time the tv came back on startling us . We both sat up, looked at the screen and each other. We switched it off.

The next morning I asked my wife about the tv. She confirmed she remembers me telling her to switch it of and she did.
The tv never came back on by itself .
I know this because no one on her family ever experienced that.
It was the old television from 2005, big. Bulky and heavy.

Now back to the UK
in March 2025, we moved in to a ground floor flat.
Me, wife, and our daughter.
We have a small garden with large over grown trees.
We were in one bedroom while our daughter was asleep in the other.
My wife decided to use the ' video call' on whatapp to hear our daughter during the night.
We were asleep. Then a disturbing noise from whatsapp woke both of us up.
We sat confused and held my phone in hand while we could see our daughter asleep.
We could hear this strange voice. Like very slow whispering from a female.
My wife kept looking at me while asking
' what is that sound '.
I didn't know.
We both kept our focus on the phone.
Then we heard a deep voice from a man. No sound/ voice language which we could describe.
My wife eye's looked like they going to pop outta her socked.
My heart was beating fast!
We run to our daughters room to find her still asleep.
My wife was feeling scared. I told her to recite Allah's SWT surah 's.

After this I started sleeping in my daughters room along with my wife.
On one occasion I was on the double bed while they were on the single on the floor.
I felt some thing kick the base of the bed. It woke me up.
I looked down to see where my wife's feet were. I searched where her feet were with my hands that enough to wake her up.
She did not kick the base of the bed.

One day I was watching tv by myself at around 1 am in the dark
I left the door not close by only like an inch ajar from being closed.
Reason for this? To not disturb the sleep on my family by the brightness of the tv.
They sleep with the door not closed.

I heard the handle been pushed loud enough for be to think something had been dropped.
I watched in darkness as the door slowly swing open by at least 12 inches.
I said out aloud prayers.
Then player Sarah's on the tv.
Then went to bed.

Other night I was tv again at night around 1 am. I heard what sounded like someone moved the curtain.

On another night I heard dish touch together.
I Once again read prayers loudly and played Surah's on tv.

One time again at night as soon as I stepped in to the living room I heard whispering.
Sounding like a female . It stopped right away. Strange whispering!

Once I was about to offer prayer. I heard ' hi' in my ear coming about me.
It sounded like a very small child..
Very very low in sound.

I was once in the garden around Magrib time.
I read dua's the the tree which was the furthest away from my started to shake very violently.
I had a look at the other trees. No shaking. No wind.

I have people living above me but we can't hear them unless they talk loud or shout.
We hear bangs coming from above by them moving nothing more.

I did not tell my wife about any of these things

Now we play Quran and other surah 's in the house.
Inn Sha Allah nothing else will happen. Ameen.
