To be honest my list is just an assumption and it's very unlikely that we'll get the same results but there will come a time when a team loses their winning streak. In the 2015 WC, we managed to beat SA for the first time in a world cup, also SL has never beaten Pak in an ODI WC.

This has to be one of the toughest WC in the history of cricket imho. Not only are every team playing each other, unlike previous WC's, apart from AFG (even they are no push over), all the rest of the teams are almost neck to neck (apart from Eng and to centain extent, Ind). We are so certain that ENG/AUS/IND are going to be semifinalist, but this is a long tournament. Imagine Gayle/Russell has a great tournament, it's GG for a lot of team. Imagine Fakar/Amir hits form when it matters, they are as destructive as they come when on form. Imagine BD/SL are playing as a full unit, every player is contrubuting, it's hard to win against them when that happens. In this edition of the worldcup, you will surely see a lot of surprises, just like we witnessed in champions trophy.

For ages since when I have been watching PCT, eternal fear has been of unreliable batting and collapses. Even if PCT would restrict opposition to 150, you never knew it with our batting untill the winning shot.

It's a mindset and it's a team culture thing.

A batting innings is always one ball away from collapse. And a bowling innings is always one ball away from dominating performance. This may well be all due to flat wickets giving us false hope but it's first time I feel less worried about batting collapses. There are now less chances of one ball that will start batting collapse.

This should play in favour of PCT.
In group stages, should win at least 6 matches.

Australia and India will be hard to beat.
England not so.

Two critical games for Pak will be the WI and Bang games at beginning and end.
If Pak win against WI, they will be in a good headspace going forward.
If Pak are somehow with a qualifying chance ahead of Bang game towards end of group stage, it could be a huge banana peel game.


Need to win atleast one of games against SA and India.
Best chance seems SA , but even if that flops, there is a chance of beating India if India come into the match under high pressure after starting badly with losses to SA and Aus.

Three reason I am not seeing WI as a threat are
Their bowling is the weakest in the tournament. Fielding. And the last thing is Dot balls. This is not T20 that they can make up in 6s. The only thing they have going for them is Russell the X factor. Gayle is still formidable. But he is no longer the Gayle who scored 2 triple centuries in test.

People are overestimating our batting. We will have collapses in a few games. Most likely 2 or 3 wins.

The team has developed a habit of losing. Only a new coach and captain can change that. With current setup, this world cup is going to be as bad as 2007. Expect a couple of wins at most. The team will most likely end up only above Afghanistan in the points table.

Here is Pakistan's schedule. With 10 teams in the tournament, you have to win a minimum of 6 matches [and a decent S/R] to be sure to make it to the next stage.

They stopped playing Malik... and that was the big difference.

Remaining matches:
Afghanistan beat us in the warm up. They will be pumped up. Plus we DO NOT play spinners very well. So, anything can happen tomorrow!


Bangladesh is playing their BEST cricket ever. Plus Pakistan has lost last 4 ODIs to Bangladesh. I would give us 35% chance!

But, if Pakistan team is really peaking, then they should win.
