I was thinking about how Pakistan can get themselves out of this mess and give themselves a chance of defeating a vastly superior opponent.

None of this is going to happen, but if anyone affiliated with the team management of Pakistan follows PakPassion, they should give it a shot.

Pakistan finds themselves in a unique situation where for the first time, all pressure is on India because it is probably the first Pakistan India match in probably forever where even the most optimistic and deluded Pakistani fan has no expectations and hopes.

It is not the first time Pakistan is going to play India after finding itself in a spot of bother and when it is all over the place, but this is the lowest point that Pakistan cricket has experienced before playing a match vs India.

This is not one of those generic tirades of how Pakistan can turn up when you don’t expect them to, or how they are unpredictable bla bla, but this is about what Pakistan can do to make best use of their terrible situation.

I think Pakistan has a huge opportunity to deflect all the pressure to India.

Let India know that if you lose to Pakistan, you lose to a team that got rolled over by USA.

Pakistan should the sledge the daylights out of India. Babar should spend the entire pre match conference focusing on how India’s are favorites and let both the Pakistani and Indian media mock him for this defeatist attitude.

When they step into the ground, every Pakistani player should tell every single Indian player that they cannot lose to a team that were beaten by USA.

Mock yourself and play with their minds. Put all the pressure on them.
Rizwan should not shut up about how USA beat them for the entire 20 overs behind the stumps and how Indian cannot lose, similar to what Sangakkara did with Pollock in 2003 but extend that for the length of the innings.

Force the Indian players to think about why they cannot lose to Pakistan rather than why they should win the match.

This group of Indian players have never been sledged by this group of Pakistani players. Give them an experience that they have never experienced before and an experience that they don’t anticipate.

Everyone expects Pakistani to approach this game with a timid outlook, to say the same generic stuff before the match and take on the field with the same nervous outlook, so it is an opportunity to break the expectations.

With all due respect to India, we all know that they can absolutely bolt it under pressure in a tournament situation. They have been doing it for 10 for years. Use that to your advantage.

Pakistani players should hype up the Indian crowd throughout the time and rile them up. The Pakistani fans in return should help the team by riling up the Indian players. Keep shouting how India cannot lose to a team that lost to USA.

Take USA shirts and flags to the game. All this chaos and drama can unsettle the Indian players and crowd.

This is Pakistan’s only chance. If they do what they are expected to do and what the Indian players think they will do, they will never win.

If it works, everyone will remember how Pakistan got under India’s skin. If it doesn’t work, so what, they will get mocked, criticized and abused like they have been for the past 3 days.

If this is the same NY pitch that has produced dead matches so far, I'd advocate Pakistan doing there usual safety first ploy while batting first and then hope our seamers ( and maybe Abrar in place of Shadab) can defend it.

Saim Ayub also needs to come in for Azam Khan, whether he opens depends on the conditions.

Don't go for broke against the Indian seamers unless its a belting pitch, Pakistan doesn't have the batting talent to go after India on anything less than a flat pitch.

I don’t know if this warrants a thread. I have no issue if it gets binned or merged, but I was thinking about how Pakistan can get themselves out of this mess and give themselves a chance of defeating a vastly superior opponent.

No offence, but all this is fan fiction and happens in movies. Even if Pakistan beats India, this fantasy scenario that you've created is hilarious.

According to the latest weather forecast, there’s a significant chance of rain in New York this Sunday. Accuweather’s prediction indicates a 51% likelihood of rainfall at 11 AM local time, which is just 30 minutes into the match.

Given that it’s a daytime match, there’s a possibility of extra time being allocated if rain causes any delays or interruptions. However, it’s highly improbable that the players would wait until the afternoon for the match to commence.

Despite the forecast suggesting potential rain disruptions, there’s still a considerable chance that spectators will be able to enjoy a complete 20-over match per side.
If it rains then huge advantage to India. Like we saw in Asia Cup

India is more professional team than Pakistan so they are not thinking that Pakistan lost to USA so we can beat them easily .

Indian team know that Pakistan have quality players so they are prepare well for them .

Pressure is more on Pakistan and babar Azam becouse they know that if they lose against india than their world T20 might be over ,while if India lost they they still makes to next round .

How is this scenario even going to play out?

Pre press Babar: Yes yes we are a trash team yes yes, we stand no chance against India yes yes, we are a trash team yes yes.

Pre press rohit: We will easily beat Pakistan, if we lose we are worse then USA and suck so it won't happen.

Then during game rizwan looks at the crowd and says: Stand up lads and mock us, India is superior in all of its glory.

Then Pakistan wins and babar says: Hahaha, Fooled you all, India is worse then USA hahaha.

And then rohit cries and says: looks like we really are worse then USA and then India leaves the tournament.

Pressure is on Pakistan. Pakistan knows if they lose to India they are out of this WT20.

The pressure will be there because expectations were that Pakistan should qualify and beat at least USA as they a better team. That didn't happen.

Do you really think the likes of Kohli and Rohit Sharma will just roll over because a bunch of nobodies from behind the stumps are trying to sledge them. The egg will fall on Pakistan's face.

It is game over if Pakistan bat first. Bumrah and Siraj need the first four overs and half the Pak side will be back in the hut.

Only chance is if Pak bowl first and fire on all cylinders. Shaheen bowls some ripping inswingers and Amir finds some old magic again. As ridiculous as it sounds, if Pak bowls India out for less than 70. I back Pakistan to chase it down.

Pakistan against India?? Lol, not a chance dude.
This India team is well balance and a much better side than Pakistan.

They don't need to waste their time doing all of that, Pak should treat it as a free hit, dispose of all norms and just blast it with all out passion and aggression for those 20 overs of batting and bowling.

Somebody like Usman Kahn should be let loose as he's capable of smashing a 15 ball 40. No point in telling him to be cautious so he ends up hitting a 20 ball 25 then holing out.

Throw out all the plans, the executions, Pak players don't have the brains for all of that nonsense. Lets get back to basics, Pakistani style. :hasan2

What About Saim starting instead of Usman Khan??

They are all staying at Marriot! Saw a lot of food from Restaurant Kababish! Azam khan was found at Mall! Imad wasim and Amir were very moody after the lost!

Exactly they just need to go in and play and fight that's it.

What's the need for Saying India is better then us, then focusing in the crowd and riling them up 😂😂

A very good post. This team needs to play with a lot of fire. And make up for their lack of talent with an overload of aggression.

Problem is the likes of Babar, Naseem Shadab and Rizwan are weak and soft and incapable of pulling this off.

Shaheen and Rauf should be the ones to lead with this. Shaheen is a fierce competitor and Rauf has that villager look and mentality which will make it authentic and believable.

If PAK play the same old brand of cricket , India will outskill them. They need to make it into a dogfight and make it ugly with a win at all costs/the world is against us mentality.

What About Saim starting instead of Usman Khan??
Yeah of course, anyone, UK was just an example they all need to be in it to win it. Maybe not as opener though as he tends to find fielder instead of clearing the field after a few balls.

Bro? No offence but this is a troll post. How does the scenario of riling up the crowd and convincing everyone you're a trash team work?

If it rains then huge advantage to India. Like we saw in Asia Cup
Rain wasn't an advantage to India in Asia cup during Pakistan game, their momentum kept getting tossed aside due to rain.

They still won due to them being genuinely superior. Amd they still bowled Sri lanka out for a dolly in Indian pitches

Mamoon, what has happened to you? I was laughing reading the post. You are generally sensible and intelligent.

Do you really think the likes of Kohli and Rohit Sharma will just roll over because a bunch of nobodies from behind the stumps are trying to sledge them. The egg will fall on Pakistan's face.

Kohli and Rohit have rolled over multiple times in crunch situations when things didn’t go their way.

India is susceptible to collapsing. Pakistan has no chance of winning if they do what they are expected to do.

They need to do what they are not expected to do. Pakistani players have never sledged Indian players including Kohli. They don’t expect to be sledged by them.

Give it a shot. See how they react. Try to unsettle them. If it doesn’t work it doesn’t work, who cares.

There is no harm in trying something different when you know that the orthodox approach will lead to failure.

I think Pakistan will get a pat on their back if they fall on their face attempting to do something different rather than lose the usual way.

It would work I think if the team possessed any desire to beat an opposition through any means necessary. But this is not an Australian Team, it is a weak Pakistan Team that has little intellectual capacity as a whole.

Also, in recent times, India and Pakistan players have been exchanging pleasantries and the environment is quite friendly amongst both teams.

Mamoon wants to kill Pakistan cricket tmr instantly rather then it dying a slow death 😂😂

Yeah I wasn't talking about that, bro. But the gist of his post I agree with. Pakistan need to err on the side of aggression. Rauf should look to break 100 mph, Fakhar should look to hit big sixes etc. Simplify it for these blokes and ask them to go all out.

Tactical game has historically never been a strength for PAK and it's certainly not for this bunch.

Pak have 1 chance tomorrow which is no chance.

This team is too small for Baba & Shaheen to be in now, one must go. I use to think they’r only hungry for food it’s the captaincy aswell.

I don't think the Pakistani players are bold enough to sledge the likes of Kohli. Barring Haris Rauf maybe Iftekhar Ahmed no other player from the Pakistan side has the capability to show some aggression towards the Indian players.

lol Opposite what you say will happen. They will be queuing to get autograph from Kohli. Pakistan's one and only chance has always been knocking the top order within power play and hoping they put up a below par total due to lack of batting depth. India has to do some harakiri to lose which they are perfectly capable of as this unit is a familiar unit.

For sure, and I would just say that Fakhar at #5 is too low. Even #4 is too low for him in a must-win game

If USA can beat P akistan you should think Pakistan can beat India. These conditions has given a level playing field. Even AUstralia was in a spot of bother against an associate side. Nobody is invincible. Heck even home team West indies almost botched against a minnow.

Yeah, this is a result of having to play the other misfits, ideally he can swap with someone and play higher up whether that be opener or 3 or 4.

All I care about is that neither Azam or Chacha should be anywhere near the team...having an overweight toddler and an age old pensioner show that Pakistan is not serious when it comes to international sports and epitomises why they will never progress in a hundred years...

There a reason it’s 20-1 to India in world cups.. just watch pak captains body language at the toss these free loaders are usually beaten before they enter the field.

Feel sorry for those fans travelling to watch.

The gist of OP is that pakistan should everything within their means to turn up relax with no pressure and expectation. And the opposite for India.

I don't see how it's a troll post. It's a winning strategy.

I don't see how it's a troll post. It's a winning strategy.
The troll part is telling the world we are a trash team and then riling up the crowd to support India.

What's the point of that? If you lose it'll be a comedy, but even if you win you'll get the fluke mantra because fans will point out that Pakistan was constantly telling the world India is superior

This looks like a Bollywood movie script.

I would rather lose to India than have our captain humiliate himself like that in front of the whole world. Pakistan has a rich history of cricket, and a loss to an associate nation does not justify mocking that history by calling ourselves pathetic in front of everyone.

In the previous two encounters against India in T20 World Cups, we won one and came very close to winning the other. So. If Babar says that winning is impossible is itself a mocking statement.

I know this team isn’t playing well and the chances are very slim, but it is what it is. If we humiliate ourselves and still lose, we will create a generation of cowards who will play cricket without any self-esteem. We might as well withdraw from cricket altogether.

In any case, this sort of pressure should come from the media. Only a collective effort from social media, news media, and print media reminding Kohli and Rohit that they can't lose to a team that lost to the USA will make them feel the heat. If the opposition players mock themselves, Kohli and Rohit will smell blood and go for the kill.

The only way Pakistan can win is by reverting to their old ways. They should stop worrying about the strike rate and accept that they can't match other countries in that department. They don't possess the capability to strike at a higher rate, so they should just play like they have been, which will give them the best chance to compete like in previous editions. Most likely, they will lose anyway, but it would be better than this utter nonsense they are putting up now.

Solid plan for social media but sadly not for a cricket game, this Pakistan team is just not cut with that cloth to get under the opposition skin, expect another timid and meek surrender

Pakistan should just go and play and try to win and hope for the best.

No need to go and tell the world India is superior and them rile up the crowd and have the crowd believe India is superior.

It's not a solid plan.

Suppose they go on social media and tell the world that we suck and India will wash us.

Well what if India does wash or win? Your social media hate doubles 100x

Rohit
Jaiswal
Kohli

Pandya
Jadeja
Kuldeep
Bumrah
Arshdeep

Good luck trying to beat this team!

what about thousands of cricketers that are playing domestic cricket or aspiring to become cricketers? what kind is message they will receive? We will produce a generation of coward cricketers with no self esteem.

Sadly, there will be no Jaiswal who's easily the best batsman in Indian squad currently. Such are the ways of Indian cricket.

Sorry bro but this seems too fantastical.

They should focus on playing good cricket.

The Indian players are exposed to a lunatic fanbase daily. They won't be swayed by some trolling from our players. They spend their whole lives dealing with serious external pressure and are experts at drowning it out.

Mamoon, only “chaos” they will cause is food shortage in nyc.

I don't get the thinking behind this.

If pak bat first, they have absolute no chance of winning the game.

Their only glimmer is if they chase.

No team in this WC will win the toss and decide to bat first

1.Baber
2.Rizwan
3.Saim
4.Usman
5.Fakhar
6.Shadab
7.Imad
8.Abbas
9.Naseem
10.Harris
11.Abrar

Iftikhar has to go - his freedom pass needs to be rescinded - been having a free ride for years going unnoticed!

I am normally very optimistic because T20 games a lottery. But our team is totally shot of any confidence and is mentally beaten. It doesn't help when a known fixer bowls 3 massive wides in a Super over that even the WK can just about get to.

Also, pak bowlers won't utilise the conditions in New York if it's the same surface.

The bowlers are not consistent and can't deliver 6 accurate deliveries in a row.

The bowling attack is awful and then they have a leg spinner who only serves us full tosses and long hops

The thing is pak needs to stop being friendly with ind players and just be aggressive and sledge them on the field. Even though it was great & one of our best moments seeing USA beat pak- didn't like rizwan smiling laughing joking with the USA batsmen. Like cmon dude- you are playing for your country. Go all out against your opponents. I dont see this pak team sledging cursing kohli rohit etc.. probably a lot of bhaichara, kohli fanboy posts, taking selfies and pics with him and other ind players for Instagram.

Put ind out of their comfort zone. Be abrasive sledge them, verbal banter, cuss them- throw them off balance. It's not like they will get ipl contracts anyway being nice to ind players- so just go the full hog and be a mean opponent!

The only way Pakistan can disrupt India is by trying to seriously disrupt their plans.

We should aim to really through them off track by ball one if batting. Try and bang out 20 runs in the first over with Babar and Rizwan coming down the track hitting over the top. Mix up the bowling upfront so the batsmen are unprepared.

Maybe if they try Abrar tomorrow we get to see some wickets fall for India..They play fast bowlers pretty well imo

On a serious note - this actually once happened

Before the 1979 Pakistan tour of India - the Indian captain Sunny Gavaskar said in a press conference that India has no chance & Pakistan will easily win the series

The thing is even the Pakistani team believed those words & got complacent. They even dropped Sarfaraz Nawaz bcoz he was seen as trouble maker and the captain Asif Iqbal thought they were anyways winning , so why bother. Also the team initially spent more time attending Bollywood events & parties instead of focusing on cricket

But ultimately Pakistan lost the series badly - their captain Asif Iqbal sent his resignation & flew to England and the rest of team returned to face the wrath of Pakistani fans. And Sunny Gavaskar was hailed for his tactical masterstroke !

Absolutely, no point in trying to play a measured game, they will lose 100%. Need to bring some laal mircha and garam masala, not halwa.

This. They are not just mentally there anymore. Probably just want to go home

India is a professional side so chatter wont really faze them.

Paks best chance is to try and maximize some matchups in their favour.

1) Axar/Jadeja/Dube will be responsible for squeezing 4 overs out. They have to maximize these for 40-45 runs by ensuring that their most dangerous hitter Fakhar is facing bulk of these overs.

2) Get Abbas Afridi in for Haris. New york wkt aids sideways movement off good length. Haris' pace and propensity to bowl fast full tosses create more boundary opportunities. Abbas could be the better bet.

3) Get Saim in for Azam and send him in PP with express license to takedown Arshdeep and hit him off his length.

4) Ideally Imad if fit comes in for Shadab and bowls in PP to Ro-Ko but if unavailable still throw Shadab for an early over daring Rohit for a slog sweep with aim of an lbw or miscue to short third

Left arm spinners are India's achilles heel. Even SKY strike rate against left arm spin is only about 110 or so.
Yes but they have played Imad earlier and would plan against him. I don't think you remember Pak vs India earlier CT17 games where he was toothless. Abrar is the key...

All fine and dandy mate, but you forget that the likes of Javed Miandad are no longer playing for Pakistan.
This Pak side cannot sledge even if their lives depended on it, while this Indian side knows how to pay back any sledge with interest. The current Indian side have showed master sledgers like the Australians their places. Any Pak attempt at sledging will backfire big time.
Pakistan should play good, intelligent cricket tomorrow, and let luck decide the rest.

If any Indian cricketer or team manager reads this he would be amused. Sounds like a Bollywood movie script.

Pakistan can win against India, they would just need some luck on their side (toss) and some seam movement off the pitch (of which there is plenty in Nassau) no need for all these theatrics.

T20 formulate

Win toss = Win match
I see your pattern regrading toss in every thread .
Let me tell you toss is very important factor in T20 cricket but when games are day night ,dew effect etc like subcontinent conditions .
Here toss not Play major role due to game time . Yesterday Afghanistan were batting first and won the game by more than 80 runs .

Did I say they should choose to bat first? Stop jumping to conclusions.

Seems that Imad will be injured for tomorrow's game as well, so that wont help

My five year old nephew could have come up with something the better then this.

It is easy for India to handle Australia’s sledging because they expect Australia players to sledge them.

However, they don’t expect Pakistani players to sledge them. It can caught them by surprise. It can make them think. It can lead to some conversations in the dressing room.

One thing that we have learned over the years is that this generation of Indian cricketers are brilliant but they can lose their composure and go down in a whimper when they are unsettled.

They are very methodical and extremely well prepared, but they don’t always react to situations well.

Javed Miandad didn’t know the first thing about beating India in a tournament. He lost three massive ODI matches to India (1985 Championship Final), 1992 World Cup and 1996 World Cup. Those Indian sides were inferior to the current Indian team.

This generation of Pakistani players have smashed India in two high pressure big tournament matches and that cannot be taken away from them. No other generation of Pakistani cricketers have managed to do that.

You could sledge everyone. But sledging KOhli si the worst thing you would do. He ups the game when he gets sledged.

If Pakistan players sledge to Kohli he Alone eat them alive .its better to Focus on basic cricket rather than amature stuff.
Indian team can beaten by playing basics cricket.

This game could've been played prime time North America, instead they are showing these Uganda matches.

If both Pakistan and India play to their maximum capability, there is no way Pakistan is winning.

After their loss to the USA, against a team where players took time off work to play cricket, Pakistan do not deserve winning. Any victory would be a clear fluke.
