We definitely need a pace bowling all rounder in overseas tests to give rest to the likes of Amir, Abbas and Hasan.

Both these guys are massively talented however Talat is the better batsman and Faheem is the better bowler. The question is which one would bring more value to the test side... Talat as a batting all rounder or Faheem as a bowling all rounder?

I know Talat doesn’t have the best of FC record but that is mainly because of mistreatment.

They are both a must in LOI cricket however.

Don't know about Tests but Talat's batting was below average in the recent Pakistan Cup.

That is an abberration.

He has been prolific in white ball tournaments over the last 2 years or so.

Well if he wants make it into the current Test team due to his batting then he must perform given the variety of options available.

Hussain Talat or Amir Yameen in UAE/SL as both of them are good against spin and Faheem in overseas tests because he has slightly quicker and strong against pace bowlers.

He is already in the reckoning for the test team as shown by the fact he was in the pre selection camp.

Yes but wasn't chosen. If he continues with dismal performances then he won't even be in the next camp.

Hussain Talat needs to improve his FC batting if he wants to be selected for the test team.

He averages 27 with the bat after 30 matches, with no centuries.

Faheem should be given extended run, premature to talk about his replacement, at least for now. He is doing fine job for the moment. If he flopped for consecutive two series only then he be replaced.

It’s not about replacement - both of them should always be in the test squad overseas.

Fahim needs to be bowling more overs. He is picked as a bowling alrounder and hardly got a ball in the first test.

Rana is love. Rana is life.

Outside Asia, he is necessary for a winning combination as he can score quick runs down the order and take the odd wickets here and there.

Talat is not an all-rounder. He’s simply a batsman who can bowl a few part-time overs. Sort of like the latter year version of Steve Waugh. :ma

No need to try and turn him into something he is not and he is best used as a part-timer when bowling.

Faheem's batting AND bowling averages are better than Talat's in first class - so this one answers itself for now

I'd let Talat prove himself a little more in T20s and ODIs before giving him test consideration

Faheem seem the more complete, test match all rounder, whereas Talat is a batting allrounder who's game is better suites to LOI

Talat needs a try. Let’s debut him against the Aussies.
But I’m afraid his batting is not quick as Faheem

Faheem

Big fan of Talat, and ill brag about being one of his earlies advocates on this sight.

However Talat has been woeful in first-class given his ability, actually has a worse record than Faheem.

For the time being id let Talat cement himself in limited overs

Personally I see Talat's bowling as more of a bonus than anything else

BTW Faheem averages 60 with a SR of 80 in TESTS!!

What has he done wrong???

Talat has a pretty poor FC record, averages 27. And from what little I have seen he doesn't have a great defense.

Test team seems fine for now, Talat should establish himself in the LOI team first.

Good post and difficult question :p
Abhi k liye I will go with Faheem. Especially if Faheem improves his defensive technique he can be vital for us. Difficult to have both in playing X1 right now. Talat should be in the squad though. Both top prospects!

Only if Hussian bats in the top six and there doesn't seem to be a spot available there.

No spot as of now. But he seems to be a batting all rounder so I don't think they are fighting for the same spot.
