Slovakia have decided to "ban" Islam and no mosques can be built there (there were none to start with).

The west calls out Islamic countries for their lack of freedom and restriction on religions but i've not seen a single westerner call out Slovakia.

https://nationalfile.com/slovakia-ba...allow-mosques/

Considering Slovakia's muslim population is less than 0.1% (only 5000) of their total population, how do muslims pose a threat to Slovakia?

Actually surveys have shown that western countries where there are less muslim immigrants tend to hate muslims more than countries where there are a lot more.

https://www.pewresearch.org/fact-ta...pt-muslims-but-opinions-are-divided-on-islam/

Imagine the outcry if Pakistan had banned christianity or hinduism.

Ahhh the great eastern communist bloc showing its true colours. Another shining beacon of what is know as the EU.

Remember, it was Europe that was responsible for 2 of the greatest wars in humanity; make no mistake, Europe will be responsible for the next war too.

Tbh there is a clear distinction between Eastern European countries and the west

I hope that's not true because I have a really good friend from Slovakia even though she's British.

Eastern European countries are very racist as well tbh and I agree with what Slog has said.

May be not this extreme but didn’t Pakistan Supreme Court recently rule that a non-Muslim can never become a head of state .

People were arguing that our country our rules. So what’s different now?

Not justifying either moves though.

Firstly, that rule was established decades ago, i think under Zia-ul-Haq's rule. The vote was for it to be revoked and obviously it didn't get revoked.

Secondly, there's a major difference between instating a law and revoking it

That wasn't the point i was trying to make

My point was why isn't Slovakia getting criticised for this decision by the West.

I didn't even know this was a thing until i came across it on twitter.

They latch on every minor blip made by the Islamic countries

Who cares about Slovakia? It is an irrelevant country. Even Somalia has more to offer than Slovakia.

Bro, these human right activists, Western media and a lot of non-Muslims are very quick to criticise Muslim countries for their treatment of women, LGBTQ and minorities. Yet, they don't say a word about atrocities committed against Muslims in China, Kashmir etc.

They are proper hypocrites.

Eastern European countries generally have trash laws. They can ban anything they like. We Muslims shouldn't go there. Slovakia doesn't have much to offer anyway.

Eastern European countries are full of white nationalists, who are racist and xenophobes. I don't see any reason, as to why any Muslim would go there.

Thats the pay off here isnt it, the west is full of white nationalists who are racist and xenophobes and the east is full of religious terrorists. Thats why there is so much hypocracy.

He mentioned Eastern Europe and not West.

Eastern Europe is different than West. No?

Absolutely disgusting. I've been a vocal critic of Islam (and religion in general) on this forum but this is not terrible.

However, as someone said, don't call this a 'Western' problem since it's Eastern Europe. The West is certainly not without fault, but it is the best area to live in terms of equality.

As if Muslims are waiting in lines to visit their castles while chewing potato halusky.

Slovakia is a democratic republic with a freedom of religion.

Islam is recognised as a religion existing in the country, that is being freely practiced here. At the same time, Islam is not officially recognised as one of the country´s funded religions, that means it is not funded by government. Why is that so? - Because the number of muslims is so small, it officially has to reach number 50.000 - every religious group has to reach this number in order to get officially recognized and funded. There are only a little over 5.000 muslims in the country, who are legal citizens of Slovakia.

Slovakia is the only country in the European Union without a single mosque (so far). People meet in prayer houses which serve them as a prayer hall and a place for religious study.

Slovak muslims would never be deported just for being muslims. That would be totally against the country´s laws. You dont have to be scared of legal punsihments just for being muslim.

There are many religions besides Islam, that keep applying for state recognition. (yet no one else is spreading false information on the internet about being deported for their religion ;)) They are recognised as practicing religions in the country, just that they are not recognised as the official state religions. What´s the difference? That ones can draw money from the state (if they wish) the others cannot, they are self-funding. How does a religious group become recognised (without state support - the green part of the picture) ? They simply show any numbers of practicing citizens in the statistics. Meanwhile there are some religions that exist in the world, but there has been zero of practicing people of that religion in Slovakia, the group is simply not recognised there at all until some of our citizens start identify with that belief on their official documents. There are no banned religious groups in Slovakia. No one ever has been deported from Slovakia for religion. The ones listed in blue can build their temples (some of them even choose not to), the ones in green can have prayer&study houses and rooms all over the country.

Well, that is what the EEC/EU project is to prevent.

Wikipedia: In 2015, amidst the European migrant crisis, Slovakia agreed to admit 200 Christian asylum seekers, but refused to accept Muslims under an EU scheme to share migrants between member states. Slovak Ministry of Interior Affairs explained this decision by the absence of Muslim places of worship in Slovakia which will allegedly complicate the migrants' integration in Slovak society.

For things like this I am sometimes glad UK are not in the same group with this bunch of thugs. I am surprised the EU didnt step in to twist Slovakia's arm

Stop listening to republic tv and come back into the real world.

I doubt you'd be doing this much research if this thread was about Pakistan banning Hinduism

https://www.alaraby.co.uk/english/comment/2018/9/18/slovakias-deplorable-move-to-criminalise-islam

Read this article.

Do you know what "ban" means?

Their PM said that islam has no place in their country.
You think this is freedom of religion?

And people say to me not all Indians think alike :jk

An indian trying to justify Slovakia's move to ban muslims.
The same joker who wouldn't fact check twice if an Islamic country were the antagonist

This maybe the future for Islam in first world countries. I am worried

Not in Europe (excluding the eastern European countries)

The muslim population in Europe will be around 15% by 2050 (estimated) so these type of laws won’t be passed solely because of the potential backlash.

This is what i love about the UK, we have people here who are racist and stuff but there are more people who are anti-racism. People here are not very nationalist so don’t think twice before criticising their government which is a good trait to have.
