"I am hopeful of making a comeback if I get enough support from senior players": Umar Akmal

Looks like abs bought in Turkey. No muscle definition anywhere else but he has a six pack.
That’s what it seems like to me but idk if they’re that fake either cause he definitely looks thinner. But the abs just look so fake lmao . Kinda like Govinda’s fake abs for movies (google it)

Would love to hear what our resident gym goers think… @Savak ?

Whether it's real or not, he needs to get fitter & in the right shape of mind.

With what has happened to him over the last couple of years, it is over for him.

However he is better than a lot of "hitters" Pakistan have tried over the last couple of years.

Not saying that I don't believe him ... but this photo looks so fake and the abs look like they've been edited in. I'm not saying that IS the case - it just looks like it lol. Cus if you look at his arms, they have no vascularity or definition whatsoever but he has great abs. Idk how that works bc you would have to have an overall low BF % to get those abs & it should show on his arms too.
Not fake, I can tell when it's ai or photoshop as that's my line of work.

It's a liposuction based of incisions.

So you are saying that Umar has had some surgery to make those fake abs??

Can't accept of deny this as I don't know but you can expect antique stuff from Umar.

I'm saying he worked hard and actually has abs and their not fake, but he has clearly done a liposuction as well.

You people are looking into this way way too deep simply because you don't like UA and view him as a drama bazi when rizwan has been a bigger drama baz then akmal has ever been.

The conspiracy of what he did is hilarious with people acting like their biological fitness experts and using fancy words like uneven 20% muscle complexiton to suit some weak agenda for a player they hate.

UA has become thinner, worked hard and achieved that body composition with a bit of medical treatment to get rid of loose skin. Shpuld he be back in the team? Probably not, tayyab is better but, that doesn't mean we analyse him and act as if Azam Khan is the one who photoshopped himself.

I don't like or dislike him. I am talking about the antique stuff he keeps doing on social media in these kinds of situations. He said that he is fit, but where is his performance?

I am just talking about priorities. His priority should be make a comeback in team by smashing all stats in domestic, instead of doing unusual stuff on media.

Umad should not go down the route of ahmed shehzad. simple.

He went down that route before shehzad. Shehzad is the one who followed

Umar Akmal in a TV show said that Mibah-ul-Haq was the reason of his dismissal in 2011 World Cup semi-final vs India.

"You can say that Shahid bhai was going forward very nicely by taking all boys together. He was captain and we were in a good rhythm. In that match, I will talk only about myself, every player was given its role by the head coach and captain. The role that was given to me I was playing positively according to that but there was a senior player batting with me (Misbah Bhai)."

"He was also given a role, every player has a role in the team. So when I got into bat I started getting balls in my area and I was hitting the balls. Misbah bhai was batting with me and when Harbhajan came into bowl, Misbah bhai said that we will play him cautiously. We will utilize him by taking singles and doubles and in the next over we will go for the boundaries."

"I told Misbah bhai that I am hitting well straight so let me hit him, no issues I will manage him. My rhythm is good but Misbah bhai said, No play calmly for now. They are all under pressure and if we play two or three more overs, we will win this match one-sided. So in trying to get a single, I couldn't read his arm-ball and I got out."

Instead of posting videos of net sessions, he’s playing dress up. can’t see the void in the middle order of our national team.🤡

Please let's not add to the toxicity in our team, let's keep this guy away from Pakistan cricket..

Too many chances given and wasted...

Umar Akmal should be looking to paint the picture of his comeback by playing cricket and performing instead of posting pictures in a pink dress and writing philosophy.

Yeah, he can wear whatever he wants to but time is money and he should invest his time in fulfilling his dream of a comeback.

Being happy and being yourself etc is what some celebrities say when they come out.

Umar should let someone else handle his Twitter for a bit.

Why Umar doesn't get selected to play PSL is beyond me. He is the best hitter of white ball I have seen from Pakistan post 2010.

The problem with Pakistani fans and players is that fans overhype and players buy into the hype.

Umar Akmal was not a once in a generation superstar. The only once in a generation superstar that Pakistan has had since the 2000 era which Misbah has ruined in favour of Muhammad rizwan is Fakhar Zaman who when onsong can basically provide a game over screen for the opposition even if the target is 400.

But UA could have been a fantastic No 3 to no 4 for pakistan. This dude is not as bad as people claim( Yes he's bad now) but in 2014 this man dismantled an atg aussie side in a world cup and got his 2nd odi 100 from no 6 at a very difficult and collapsed position against Afghanistan which no number 6 batsmen could have done from pakistan. If Babar played at 6 with wickets were falling at the other end, he'd depart instantly.

I blame Umar Akmal but I also blame Misbah and I'm suprised no one blames Misbah while they credit him as a saviour lol.

Umar Akmal was literally the biggest drama baz and never felt the need to improve, but who told Misbah to Shove him from no 3 and 4 to no 6/7? Like he did with kamran akmal in the 2012 India series?

Who told Misbah to replace UA for asad shafiq at no 3 in odi?

And why couldn't Misbah keep UA in check? For all the talks of Misbah returning respect back to pakistan cricket thanks to spit fixing scandal, how is this in any manner respect?

Infact Misbah as a coach and selector brought UA back into the side in 2020 when he was already Unfit, Fat, A bigger drama bazi then before?

he spoiled his career himself... already got too many chances but non of them he grabbed so better now for him to sit behind and do cringe activities on TikTok

Don't think anyone is discounting his talent - the vast majority of Pak cricket fans/followers put UA in the wasted talent category, acknowledging he had the talent, just not the temperament or discipline to capitalize on it.

Re: Misbah, those who glorify him tend to highlight him as a saviour of the red-ball team not so much the white ball team. His tactics in ODIs have always been seen as rather timid as the game progressed rapidly out of Pakistan's reach between 2010-2015 and beyond while he was stuck playing in a by-gone era.

Why couldn't Misbah keep him in check? Managing every individual is different, maybe Misbah had the management chops to keep all others in check but couldn't handle the antics of a highly talented man-child.

Don't understand what your last point re: bringing him back in 2020 is meant to argue. If Misbah did bring him back and Umar happened to be unfit and even more ill-disciplined at that time, then isn't that UA's fault for not capitalising on a second chance at glory?

For the 2nd point, ask someone Who glorifies him as if Misbah is some sort of godfather of cricket.

For the 3rd part and the 4th part, its not so much as Misbah keeping these 2 in check but mostly causing these 2 to be this way. By 2020 they had no relevance and should never have been brought back, but Misbah deliberately ignores their attitude and performance and kept bringing them back.

For all the talk about restoring respect to pakistan cricket, Misbah sure does give way to more and more drama bazi in the team

I get what you mean re: his views towards Misbah. Not everyone is perfect and while, in my opinion, Misbah did bring back some decency and respect to Pak cricket he also had his bad days at the office.

I will disagree with Misbah causing the 2 to be this way (I assume you mean Umar and Kamran Akmal?) - the level of maturity these guys have demonstrated over the years on-field, on TV, social media, etc. is just something else. I wouldn't blame a guy who happened to captain and manage them for a few years of their professional career for something that is clearly a social development issue/character shortcoming.

It used to feel nostalgic earlier. Now he's only an embarrassment.

I'm referring to Umar Akmal and Ahmed Shehzad

Umar Akmal, Ahmed Shehzad, Abid Ali, Salman Butt like everyone else without exception should be given every opportunity via the domestic seasons to regain their places in the national team's be it test odi or t20

He should've stayed in US, perhaps could've been in their team by now.

On second thought, with the way he is, he doesn't even get any T20 gigs so doubt he'll had featured anyway.

He is hopeful only. Hoping against hope that someone will pick him out of nowhere. Instead of working hard and play some blinders in the domestics, he is posting pictures and videos that will not benefit him by any means. Go inside the ground and smash some bowlers in a match. Not in Nets

Salman Butt?
LOL you serious, he is not playing cricket and retired some time ago.

Umar Akmal is officially 34 years old. So, don't see him coming back.

It is a shame how his career turned out. He was much better than that.

Salman butt is 40+, he ain't coming back.

Abid Ali is 36 and had a heart attack, he's also done.

Ahmed Shehzad and Umar Akmal had their chance in 2020, their finished now

Yes, I'm aware of all these things, as I'm sure are all the gentleman's names themselves that I've mentioned, but you guys seem to want point detail specially for everyone to see why they cannot. I don't understand why you guys making such a big drama about it. Everyone playing in Pakistan domestic leagues especially 4d cricket (depending on ability) deserves a spot in Pakistan national team.

Because the goal should be to develop the team for 2027 wc, not look for quick fixes

Quick fixes ?
Let's say salman butt performs and tops the domestic charts.

What good will it do for pakistan? One of the biggest issues with Misbah's captaincy amd his stint post captaincy and as a coach is that he chose people who obviously cannot represent Pakistan for long meaning by the time the world cup comes along Pakistan wouldn't have a team.

I still remember pre wc 2015, it was such a mess that pakistan didn't even know who would open amd was cycling through 5 opening options including YK as one of them.

Misbah selected Zulfiqar Ali Babar at the age of 37 and despite having a dream debut, he wasnt available for wc 2015 cause he was already 40 at the time and with the bam of hafeez and ajmal, Misbah had no spinner for 2015 besides afridi and haris sohail(who wasn't a full time spinner at the time)

Similarly he selected 37 year old Irfan for the 2020 Australian series which ended in misery and irfan was no where to be seen.

Not since 2011 (excluding 2017) has Pakistan had a settled squad. 2015 was a mess with zero direction as to who'd be the top order and MO, 2021, 2023 and 2024 have followed the same story.

You put salman butt in, he'll be gone before the next ct and then pakistan is left without a developed top order option

your not a fan of Salman Butt and thats fine, but your best batsman has been holding the development of pak cricket hostage for years and your happy to ignore all that, you are also happy to ignore unretired players in the recent t20wc debacle. You can blame Salman Butt for everything that is wrong (personally I wouldn't let Babar and co captain ever again)
Domestic under19/shaheens/national

I would still take Umar Akmal in the top order over Rizwan, or babar

Umar Akmal had such an insane peak in T20’s early on on all fronts, even with the numbers which folk worship, they regressed due to poor management but he still played a valuable utility role because the team wanted that, even though it was not right for Pakistan cricket. The guy was ahead of his time, the T20 team is awful now and it’s because we don’t have players with Umar Akmal’s ability or mentality.

Ya”ll didn’t appreciate what you had.

He never took any responsibility for his poor performances and fitness, was eventually found out and exposed badly at the international level..

Fame got to his head, the responsibility for his downfall lies with him alone...

Pathetic attitude, shameless character, should never be allowed near the Pak team...

UA in his prime 2014 days(not now) is miles superior to any Pakistani Middle order batter in the current t20 unit.

Rn UA is a completely washed up has been who can't even play crapola gully players, but it doesn't change the fact that atleast in 2013-2014 you guys really didn't appreciate what you had.

When he and afridi were dropped in 2013 CT, they would come back and demolish the very same west indies they lost to in CT, primiarly due to Afridi 7-12 in one game and UA scoring.

UA score against australia in the t20 world cup was also a reason for victory and finally Afghanistan would have broken the Record of being winless against pakistan in 2014 asia cup had UA not scored a century despite pakistan collapsing for 30-4 in that game.

Now you have crapola players like shadab and chacha representing your Middle order when neither of these 2 are as good as 2014 Umar Akmal, and Frankly speaking while I agree about attitude adjustments, the current team attitude is no better nor is their fitness.

Azam Khan being in the team is a joke, Shadab, Imam ul Haq and rizwan, Anytime these 3 are on the press or making interviews it makes me angry and makes me cringe.

But for UA people hate him, However for Shadab and chacha who are even worse, people applaud them and love them.

Truth is real talent like Fakhar Zaman, Saud Shakeel, Tayyab Tahir, Agha Salman, Abrar Ahmed who

A) Don't have any attitude issues.

B) Wish to represent the team and enjoy their cricket

All of these lads are sidelined either because Babar wants to protect his friends like shadab, or Rizwan and Chacha wants their cry baby positions which prevents new upcoming youngsters from all collectively playing and max only one of 4 get to play oer game.

Umar Akmal had a chance to make his way back into the team but he himself ruined that chance. By posting videos on the internet won't do any wonders, he has to play real cricket and PERFROM there which he could not.

His time is done now.

He did his best for what the team wanted, a lower order hitter which was preposterous. T20 cricket doesn’t need to be overly complicated, sure some aspects he could have done a little better but his gross miss-management ultimately should take the bulk of the blame as far as his T20 prospects were concerned, he still did well in that format and looking back, compared to what you have now, it’s night and day, no artificial stats can prove otherwise.

He always failed under pressure... throwing away his wicket casually...

Lacked the temperament for big matches...

Like I said, he is responsible for his own downfall...

Talent without handwork and direction amounts to nothing... let's move on - nothing good can come out of re-inducting him in our team...

I agree. During his prime, he was a genuine power hitter, probably the best one out there in the field. He spoiled his career with his own hands.

Only thing lacking was hard work and passion. SOcial media made him mad I think.

Umar even past his best days is far superior to the saints who participated in the WT20 recently. He delivered in the T20 format, but his potential was not maximised due to poor leadership and mismanagement. You need talent/hard-work, but more than that a leader and support system to bring out your best and squeeze every last drop you have, a foreign concept for most covid fans who can’t comprehend such basic stuff, even with the current affairs involving the platform created by Stokes/Baz for the infant talent in our country which are performing at the highest level.

No he is not, he has had his fair share of chances... If you haven't watched his performances in 2014 T20 WC, 2015 ODI WC and 2016 T20 WC, I recommend your visit those.. and look at his appalling fitness levels...

I doubt if any captain or leader has ever stoped him from scoring... he just does not have it in him..

The current crop of players is pathetic, but that does not mean that Umar Akmal is an exceptional cricketer who can be our saviour, let's stop being delusional...

Mental deterioration and possibly the current state of the team will put you in a place where you seriously consider bringing him back, but the fact that you can’t begin to comprehend the role of a leader in the continued progression of a sportsman is a reflection of your own deficiencies and lack of experience. For what it’s worth, the Umar Akmal from those tournaments, would be much better positioned to exploit the PP overs if we were to somehow teleport him to the current side, I have to spell this out for the less intellectually blessed.

I can very well comprehend the role of a leader and its limitations... not over-hyping tried and tested failures who cannot understand the role of fitness in sports and choose to get constantly embroiled in off-field controversies...

And if you are delusional enough to believe that Umar Akmal is the answer to Pakistan cricket's problems, my sympathies with you my friend... I hope you see the light soon...
Umar Akmal in his prime 2009-2014 is a very mediocre cricketer with extremely poor fitness

but he's Miles superior to Azam, Chacha, Usman Khan, Saim Ayub, Fakhar Zaman( at no 4, Fakhar as an opener is better then any pakiatani players except saeed Anwar when on song),

Imad wasim and heck he's even better then Rizwan(if rizwan plays MO),

he'd probs have better numbers then Babar, if Babar was to slot in the middle order in t20 as well.

The problem is the criteria is not fair. The same people who will hate on UA for attitude issues and pcb purging said issues are the same people + Management + members on this forumn who will support and back free riders like chacha and shadab who not only are worse but their ego's and attitudes and self boasting is far worse then UA would ever produce on the media.

Umar Akmal scoring a century against Afghanistan in 2014 from a collapsed position and ensuring the Pakistan streak remained alive till 2023 before shadab and babar as captains fumbled it up is superior to anything our Middle order has done in recent times in both odi and t20 formats. Same with UA's exploits againat Australia in t20.

I agree UA is washed up, and that he should never have been brought back in 2020, but the funny thing is, during his early and late 20's he was Miles superior in both attitude and performance and fitness even then our current team.

It is extremely hypocritical of PCB to cite poor fitness for UA but them have azam khan get free rides and poor fitness being covered up, Same way it's extremely hypocritical to cite inconsisteny at no 5 in t20 for UA when Shadab is more inconsistent and unlike UA, Shadab's ceiling is scoring 40 of 20 once in a blue moon while most of the times he gets bowled out for 0 and gets bullied in bowling by no 10 batters

Umar is history. He keeps crying in the media for his selection but when asked about his performance, he is quiet. He should pay attention on his performance first instead of running media campaign and posting video of his net practice.

According to Stallions Mentor Shoaib Malik, middle-order batter Umar Akmal has made himself unavailable for the upcoming Champions One Day Cup starting from 12th September in Faislabad.

Not sure why he said no to this. He should be playing in this event. He needs games to get noticed.

that ship has sailed, worse still, not being equipped to see the stark contrast between his talent and those who surrender to the USA is even worse.
