PCB Chairman speaking to the press

In response to criticism about Quetta players not being seleced : "We at PCB do not decide which player is selected for which franchises, this is decided by them"

"This is easy to say but difficult to explain to the regions who say we have teams playing with our names and no regional players so why don't you change the rules?"

"I have suggested that from next year in the emerging players category, we will put in a clause that will force teams to pick a player from that region"

"I hope the franchises will support us in this decision"

"So in PS4 there will be atleast one player who will be from the region of the team"

"We have no indication about BCCI's course of action regarding the World Test Championship and any matches against Pakistan"

"Options are simple: Either BCCI will play against us or not; if they don't play, they will forfeit the match"

"I believe that the BCCI will get permission to play Pakistan from the GOI because if they can play CT games against us then they can also play Test series against Pakistan"

"The case against BCCI (MoU dispute) will be lodged in the first week of next month" : NS [Not clear

"The effect of this case will be felt in the FTP as well"

"We have got permission to carry out long and short term repairs on NSK"

"We are constructing a new stand for media and sponsors in Rawalpindi" : NS

"We had finalized the PSL3 schedule but we have had a new request from Dubai to say that they want 2-3 more matches to be played there"

"Also Abdu Dhabi asking for more matches so our team is going there to discuss this issue"

"Playing PSL games in Abu Dhabi is not very profitable for us as hotels are expensive etc so we have asked them to compensate us for playing games there"

"The finalization of PSL3 schedule is on hold due to requests by Emirates & Abu Dhabi cricket boards"

"We intend to finalize the PSL3 dates in about 10 days"

"Our stand is that the Pakistan India games have to be part of the FTP, India does not want that but that is not acceptable to us"

"Our philosophy is that we will not worry about profit/loss but get PSL games back to Pakistan"

"I believe that by 2019, PSL would, more or less, have moved to Pakistan"

"I asked the CWI Chairman that I hear that some of your players are not ready to come to Pakistan, he laughed and said, I am not sure if they will be selected in the first place or not"

"Nothing short of a full-fledged WI squad will come to Pakistan in March and nothing short of that is acceptable to us"

"We have 2 lists of players in PSL; One list is those who have said we wont go to Karachi but Lahore is good, whilst the other ones are comfortable with playing in both cities; there are only a few who have said that we wont go to Pakistan at all"

"Frankly speaking, only a few players have given the clearance to play in Karachi"

"This is why we are doing a 2nd draft after getting the security clearance for Karachi and also get the franchises to agree with it which incidentally was the problem before"

"If there are still players who do not wish to play in Pakistan then that's fine; we will get others who will play there"

"Our Women's team has performed so well after a long time":

"Everyone has praised Mark Coles as Coach and it is very possible that we retain him for the future"

"I just like you all am saddened by the state of Women's cricket but it was not under me before, but is now"

"Shahid Aslam will now be senior General Manager of the Pak Women's team"

"Some people think it costs nothing to make a new stadium which is obviously not true - we do not have so much money to make a new stadiums; we will improve the capacity & facilities of existing stadiums"

"Our preliminary thinking is that if we are to change the format of PSL, then we need 8 teams"

"YK has some issues with the PCB but he has good relations with me"

"Misbah is ready but we also need a third cricketer who is available (and not playing leagues etc) to join this group (as PCB advisors)"

Having 2 lists and a separate draft thing just doesn't look good...... you can't kill your own brand... Having two squads for Pakistan and UAE will destroy this league

The Quetta issue seems to have had an effect on PCB thinking which is good. One player from regions but surely he has to be quality?

PSL this, PSL that - is the Chairman aware that there is more to Pakistan cricket than this league ?

Why wasn't he asked about the appalling state of Quaid-e-Azam trophy pitches this season ? Why is our national team hardly playing any Test cricket in the next few months before a tough tour of England ?

As an Indian fan, I really want to see a Test series between both nations. Come on, it's been 10 years since there was a Test series between us. It's so bloody frustrating.

Wishful thinking. Forget it. Move on.

Would be great to see a test series of PAK vs IND, would be pretty exciting and I myself have never seen one live.

I don't like GOI's stance and they do need to play more LOIs against each other more often however with current test side, they will get whitewashed in India, UAE and any other neutral venue because Pak are clearly the worst in Asia with minnow standard batters.

Government Says no to India-Pakistan Test Series: Reports

New Delhi: The government is not keen on giving green signal to the bilateral series between traditional rivals India and Pakistan. It was earlier reported that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will meet sports minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore to discuss the potential inclusion of a series against Pakistan in the Future Tours Programme (FTP) as part of the upcoming ICC Test Championship. However, as per TV reports, it’s learnt that government is not in favour of playing cricket against Pakistan.

As per ICC Test Championship, every Test playing nation should face each other at least once in at least a three-Test series on home and away formula between 2019 and 2021. So, in that view BCCI had sought sports ministries directives.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has said that it would file a compensation claim against the BCCI with the ICC disputes resolution committee in the first week of January next year.

“We are having our final meeting with our law firm in London next week and we have decided to file the claim with the ICC disputes resolution committee in the first week of January,” PCB Chairman Najam Sethi told a media conference in Lahore.

He said the Board of Governors had been briefed about the existing ties with India and they have approved the filing of the compensation claim.

“We are claiming compensation from the BCCI for not honouring a MoU to play 24 matches with us. They obviously have said they are not bound to pay us anything as they can’t play with us without government clearance,” Sethi said.

“Our first priority is that India should resume ties with us that would be an ideal situation. Both the Boards can make money and people want to see Pakistan and India play. But if they don’t want to play then we are seeking millions in compensation from them,” he said.

Sethi said once the compensation claim is filed it will have some effect on the ICC’s Future Tour Programme.

The PCB chief also announced that Pakistan have no issues playing with India in the ICC Test Championship.

“We have read media reports that the BCCI has sought clearance from its government to play Tests with us in the ICC Championship. I think they should get this clearance because when they can play with us in the ICC events then they can also play us in the Test Championship under the ICC umbrella.”

Asked what will happen if India refused to play Pakistan in the ICC Test Championship, Sethi said, “There is no third option under ICC rules. If they don’t play with us they will forfeit the match and the points, it is as simple as that.

“We have no problems playing with them in the Test Championship,” he added.

Wishful thinking. Forget it. Move on.

The exact same thing has been going on for a decade. The PCB seems to be nowhere near forgetting it, neither are they any close to moving on.

Yawn.

Its been a decade, all this stuff is now getting old.

PCB should just stop caring and move on.

The PCB is miffed that the ICC Chairman Shashank Manohar defended BCCI's decision to not play bilateral series with them during the arbitration meeting on their decision to file a compensation claim of USD 70 million against the Indian Cricket Board. According to reliable sources, the PCB team which attended the arbitration meetings held in Dubai and London, was disappointed with the way Manohar outlined India's point of view in the compensation case. "It didn't seem that he was representing the ICC. It was okay at one stage but than he spoke mostly defending the BCCI's position of not playing Pakistan in bilateral cricket series since 2007," a PCB source disclosed.

"He didn't appear to be in favour of a case being filed with the ICC," the source added.

PCB Chairman Najam Sethi announced this week that it would file a compensation claim before the ICC disputes resolution committee in January, 2018.

"The name of the arbitrator who will head the ICC committee had also been finalised and will be announced soon," the source said.
Pakistan has filed the compensation claim on the grounds that BCCI had signed a MoU with them and were mandated to play six bilateral series between 2015 and 2023 and until now had not played even one.

Recently a team of PCB officials and legal experts also met with the ICC legal team to finalize the terms of reference for the disputes resolution committee working.

"Initially PCB team had expressed reservations over some aspects of the TORs but the ICC later modified these and the PCB is now satisfied with them. One clause is that the decision of the disputes resolution committee will be final and binding on both parties and they can't go to other avenues for appeals."

The PCB source said that the Board is expecting the ICC disputes resolution committee to give a decision within six months of the filing of the case in January.

"We are expecting the first hearing within 30 days of the time we file the claim."

The PCB has allocated one million pound sterlings to meet the legal and other expenses of the case.

Mate, you've done a good job bringing cricket back home and with the PSL as well, but please stop with these mun ke fire when it comes to India.

One million pounds to meet legal expenses? If they get the compensation, fine, it'll be a hell lot of money. But what if they don't? It'll be a lot of money wasted in that case.

And I wonder which court has the jurisdiction to challenge BCCI (Supreme court appointed CoA) in India. There is no way BCCI paying a dime to PCB.

Let Sethi run his mouth, his days are numbered anyway.
