"I can become the all-rounder that Pakistan needs" : Hussain Talat

I think its just early bird nerves.

Though he really needs to work hard in nets to improve his technique and be confident of his hitting areas.

He is still young but if he ever thought of playing for Pakistan in WC 19 those thought needs readjustment now or he needs to show some extraordinary improvement or play a match changing innings next time he plays.
 
When I first saw him in the PSL I got a sense that this bloke is a bit arrogant, and we are seeing that come to the fore with his inability to realize his shortcomings and to improve on them

He's been thrown in the deep end with no training whatsoever. He's just doing whatever it takes to survive. People need to understand that he has zero experience batting at 3. He bats 5 or below in domestic.
 
I've been saying this alot where I don't think Hussain Talat is good enough at this moment in time to come in at No.3. It would be best for him to come in at No.5 where he is comfortable. No,3 can easily be taken by Malik for now.

Depends what you are referring to.

Something I am sure Mickey has flagged is his calling/running between the wickets. Talat is selfish in the sense he was more than happy to run out his partner to preserve his own wicket. In PSL3, he ran out Andre Russell vs LQ by refusing a run. Likewise he almost ran out Asif Ali vs MS, when he called Asif through for a run and then belatedly sent him back. If it wasn't for Maqsood's comical miss, Asif was a goner.

Likewise on his international debut he ran out Fakhar when he refused the run, and then he ended up getting run out himself later on in the match. I am all for putting a high price on your wicket, but that's supposed to be against the opposition not your own team-mates!

He was better in that regard in the recent tri-series but I wonder if his hesitation is part of the reason he didn't rotate the strike as well.

In terms of his form generally, I agree with what the likes of Chief Destroyer and others have said. He needs a bit of breathing room- with time and coaching he will come good. When Babar returns that should make things a little easier for him.

His ODI debut will have been pushed back for now, but it will probably end up being his best format.

The principles of batting don't change based on batting position.
 
I have been dissappointed with Hussain Talat. I know he has only has a few knocks but the manner in which he has been dismissed is a concern. I think he needs to go back to domestic cricket and play proper 4 day games and develop batting patience. When he bats he goes at the ball too hard. I reckon he needs to be kept away from the team (including T20) for the next 2 years. He is more than a T20 player and has the potential to be useful in the longer format. Players who bat high in the order and bowl at decent pace are rare in our cricket culture so he needs to be looked after.
 
still early days for him, but he hasn't taken Pak cricket by storm with strong performances like ALL the other recents finds (Babar, Farhar, Shadab, Hassan, Imam, Asif)

he needs to start delivering pretty soon
 
Hussain Talat is in Saudi Arabai for Hajj and will be back soon to join his QAT team.

Hussain Talat scored 38 runs of 41 balls & took 4 wickets for 54 runs.
 
Lets see how he performs against Australia in T20Is
 
Talat so far looks as if he's in the wrong format.

He is a decent rotator of strike who can keep the scoreboard ticking around a run-a-ball but cannot hit out if the situation requires.

He should be in the ODI squad rather than T20.

At the rate he is going, he won't be able to hit boundaries at all. Loses shape so badly while trying to hit the ball that he has no balance whatsoever.

Both Talat and Farhan seem to have regressed in the past year.
 
not impressed with the guy . he is not t20 material but he can be good no3 in odis which we have better than him ATM
 
Decent play by Hussain Talat today. Scored 16 not out and picked 2 wickets for 7 runs in Mzansi Super league. Playing in the same team as Steyn and De Cock will surely fast track his learning.
 
This leaague will definitely help him and if Inzi has some shame left in him he should select him for ODI.

Superb innings. I remember he was excellent in the home series against WI but since then his form has dipped.
 
He picks the ball late, as a result he will struggle against bowlers with decent pace. Another Malik in the making it seems. Though, his strike rotation is good.
 
Mickey has persisted with him in T20I so let’s hope he comes good at some point.
 
He's back, this time in the ODI squad. He didn't seem like a natural T20 batsman due to a lack of powerhitting ability. He's more of an accumulator so this is a better format for him.

Whilst I preferred Saud Shakeel over him, I'd rather we gave Talat a run in the middle order instead of a tried and tested entity like Hafeez. These sainted seniors don't have a god given right to a middle order spot.

Surprised he's been selected for ODI's. Against WI when he debuted he looked the real deal but his performance has dipped massively since then. Not expecting much from him, if he plays, he'll probably start the series on the bench but maybe later in the series he'll get 1 or 2 chances
 
ODI is probably the format the he suits better. He would be a solid cover for Haris Sohail this series. Maybe if he performs against the Saffers, maybe he could be a part of the line-up. A middle order of Babar, Haris and Hussain would be interesting to see.

As expected. They want him to play the hitter role which he can't he's much better batsmen then our captain at least. Talat at 4 or 5 is ideal as he can rotate the strike and he hit from time to time. But, will be useless at 7. he's being set up to fail, so malik can get a free ride.
 
I dont think he can his bowling is too slow, And everybody play this kind of bowling well these days. Non-Asian teams struggle against slow spin bowling even if its not high class so Imad will always be a better option.
 
IMO he is not international standard , all the best to him though. Doesnt have reflexes of a batsman and is too slow as a bowler , shan masood is a better bowler.
 
Don't see any improvement. He's been struggling over the past year or so and that's continuing. Has been in poor List A form too.

His defensive technique has improved a bit, but a poor shot to get out. It was his chance to score some runs.
 
It's early days but don't think that he's the solution of any problem for this team.

Last I saw him bowling, it was between 120-130 kph range with an ugly action and nothing on the ball. No seam, swing, or anything of note.

His batting is lazy and clumsy. Maybe he hit a couple of sixes in PSL but there's nothing about his batting that gives confidence when at crease. Every shot is a high risk shot and has literally shown zero grey matter against spinners. Walked against Aus in the T20 as well, and even today the same.

To boot, his fielding is also below average.


Kinda wanted him to make it big and still do but there's so much that he needs to work on. Even Anwar Ali trumps him in bowling and fielding and that's saying something. Some of these players need to hire professional managers of their own that spend a considerable amount of time working on their betterment all things life.

Much rather invest in him than Faheem who can’t even hold a bat.

He has potential. Bowling can also improve over time but he’s good enough to be a 6th bowler chipping in with some overs.

Faheem is taking up the spot of a specialist spinner. Get Gohar in.

Faheem can atleast bowl 10 overs if required. Talat cant bat or bowl (who needs 3 overs at 120kphs) Definitely Shan should have played instead of him.

Is he better than Shan or Harris? If not then no need for him. Faheem atleast bowl his 10 overs but you can still argue better to play Amir who can also bat a bit.

I don’t think he’s competing with Shan or Harris for a spot. They are specialist batsmen who should be batting up at the top. Malik is blocking a spot.

So he is better than Malik who is averaging over 40 in last 3 years? He is currently a nothing type of player. He calls himself an allrounder himself because he knows thats the only way he can justify but Pakistan dont need 3 overs at 120kphs.

This. Pakistan should have chose a real batsman like Saad Ali who has better List A numbers than Hussain Talat in every category. Sometimes I am just dumbfounded of how the selectors minds work :facepalm:
 
he is not good enough to represent Pakistan at intl level a kind of umar amin category player

Jason Gillespie scored 200 at test level and no one ever called him an all rounder, and he was a fine bowler too... but With Pakistan, any one who can get a couple of wickets and score the occasional quarter-century (25) is classed an all rounder these days.

this; Pakistan has made a mockery of the "all rounder"; before when you talk about "all rounder" then Imran Khan's name come to mind now Hussain Talat's name come to mind :facepalm:

Some of these guys are a shame to the words all-rounder.

A few slogs in the PSL and suddenly they are the next big thing in Pakistan cricket, when they haven't even got the basics of cricket right.

Even in PSL, he was struggling to time any ball above 140 (that is in UAE). If you struggle to play 140k in UAE, that should have told selectors and fans the reality about these players. Farhan was the same, he cannot play any seamer... Wahab was king in front of all Domestic bullies in PSL, that is there level :acp
 
Didn't look good at all but mangement shouldn't drop him after one bad performance.
 
Bowling 125 at a short of length doesnt work on any pitch in any country. He's a decent bat though but is not a No.6 or No.7

1-2 good inning in PSL and he become darling of selectors and leapfrog more deserving domestic performers who did not even play PSL

Shan Masood should focus on his seam bowling, he is one 2fer away I reckon from becoming classed as a top class all rounder , and could even compete along with Talat for the pace bowling all rounder slot taken by legendary all rounder Faheem.

Anyone know what happened to Bilawal Bhatti, another all rounder who just faded away.

MK we are getting to the stage when Asad Shafiq will be classed as an all-rounder.
 
Hussain Talat shouldn't be coming in as a hitter role he is ideal for 4-5 in. Batting position . I feel for number 7 batsman asif Ali should have been included
 
Another hype job used to be a powerful striker of the bowl back in the day as lost it completely. Rather invest in someone like hammad azam and kamran ghulam
