PCB didn't beg him to stay. The only reason they wanted Misbah to stay was because they didn't want a new captain to tour Australia. However, they are conent with Misbah as well as Younis retiring now because we don't have any tough overseas tour coming up. It is the right time to rebuild the team and bring fresh faces.

That is your version of events. He got a free ride in ODIs for a long time even though his performance was terrible. In 2013, when the selectors finally found the guts to drop him, he said he was ''shocked''. Yes shocked because he batting like a tail-ender.

I agree that he should not have been brought back for the ODI series in SL. However, the selectors did not have to justify dropping him be it after one game or ten, simply because he was a proven failure in that format. The reason why he made a fuss out of it was because of his ambition to play in the World Cup, knowing that it would be his last, even though he did not merit selection based on his performance.

So much for being a 'Team Man'. Yes that is what I mean by ''forced''. Obviously, he didn't put a gun to PCB's head; he simply played his seniority card and used his cronies in the media to force his selection. In addition, he threatened to retire from Tests as well, knowing that the team couldn't afford losing him at that point. In short, he simply used his leverage (seniority, media influence and status) to get what he wanted at the expense of the team.

Let me give you the example of a real Team Man. Kallis retired from Tests in 2013 because he was very keen to play in the World Cup. However, he realized in 2014 that he was not good enough anymore and would be a liability for the team at the World Cup. As a result, he promptly and quietly retired. He put the team above himself unlike our Team Man.

Younis has achieved a lot with the bat and also as T20 captain, but his biggest achievement off the pitch has been fooling the nation for years by playing the Team Man gimmick, even though at various points in his career, he has shown his true colors. He is one of the most selfish and egoistic players to have played for Pakistan, but yes unlike others, he has a terrific attitude on the pitch.

That is your version of events. He got a free ride in ODIs for a long time even though his performance was terrible. In 2013, when the selectors finally found the guts to drop him, he said he was ''shocked''. Yes shocked because he batting like a tail-ender.

I agree that he should not have been brought back for the ODI series in SL. However, the selectors did not have to justify dropping him be it after one game or ten, simply because he was a proven failure in that format. The reason why he made a fuss out of it was because of his ambition to play in the World Cup, knowing that it would be his last, even though he did not merit selection based on his performance.

So much for being a 'Team Man'. Yes that is what I mean by ''forced''. Obviously, he didn't put a gun to PCB's head; he simply played his seniority card and used his cronies in the media to force his selection. In addition, he threatened to retire from Tests as well, knowing that the team couldn't afford losing him at that point. In short, he simply used his leverage (seniority, media influence and status) to get what he wanted at the expense of the team.

Let me give you the example of a real Team Man. Kallis retired from Tests in 2013 because he was very keen to play in the World Cup. However, he realized in 2014 that he was not good enough anymore and would be a liability for the team at the World Cup. As a result, he promptly and quietly retired. He put the team above himself unlike our Team Man.

Younis has achieved a lot with the bat and also as T20 captain, but his biggest achievement off the pitch has been fooling the nation for years by playing the Team Man gimmick, even though at various points in his career, he has shown his true colors. He is one of the most selfish and egoistic players to have played for Pakistan, but yes unlike others, he has a terrific attitude on the pitch.

He is the same man who started focusing on KEEPING for team's sake... keeping was a thing he had nothing to do with but despite he did and that resulted in slump in his batting performance.... no one justifies his selection for World Cup...
As far as ODI's are concerned Mahela Jayawardene was a similar player with similar stats but he was never dropped from ODI's...
You also know it Mamoon he was never given a consistent run in the team not even in the test team... it was only after 2010 he became regular member of test team.... from 99 he was dropped and dropped for ridiculous reasons... you must know what he had gone through before banglore test.... If he would have been treated with respect and given a proper run, he would have today played 200 odd test matches.... he was a player who was dropped for unusual reasons rather than being dropped for underperformance....
