Shahid Afridi speaking after Peshawar Zalmi's loss to Karachi Kings:

"I have said Khuda Hafiz to international cricket. Most important thing these days for me is my foundation"

"I believe I can still play cricket for a year or two. I've always played for Pakistan as professionally as possible"

"I play for my fans & to lift the gloom around the PSL after what happened in Lahore recently"

I don't believe him. He will soon come up with another statement implying he was misunderstood. Not a man of his word Afridi's comments change like the weather.

If I had a choice to have any one of Afridi or Umar Akmal in the t20 squad, I'd have Afridi in the squad

Thank you Afridi for entertaining us with those huge monster sixes

I think he is still good enough to play in our team. A typical modern-day cricketer.

better than Umar Akmal
deserve to be selected on "Sir Umar Akmal Quota system", better contender than Hafeez for that quota.

As long as his leg-spin is up to the mark. Which I don't think it is.

Lol

"I think I'm still good enough"

Means he isn't going anywhere and if given the chance, he'll return

He can play in the t20 format
But he is a no in the odi format

Lol why do people have this weird obsession with certain players? Just let it go, if he's so terrible then you should stop mentioning him. No need to bring him into every thread.

i stated the truth because selectors love oldies

Thats true but the likes of Umar don't have anything to do with the thread but are brought in anyway and I just don't see why you should mention them.

lemme simply it for you:
Selection of oldies is the same as selection of Umar Akmal, because both are disgusting selections.

must be a relief for you because you won't be able to see those last overs sixes again.

I dunno man, I thought losing those Asia and Kit Ply cups were worth it for what happened in world cups, etc. He won couple of matches in a decade but also helped India won many more

However, it is really sad to see Afridi go, one of the staples from my childhood after Sachin

you must have forgotten the ninetees era where Indians were afraid of Pakistan team, Afridi was part of that team too
And I don't think you wanna get into the debate of who won more matches in the rivalry in overall history, your only excuse is World Cups, but you have forgotten that in the 20th century India was afraid of Pakistan, and lost majority of matches in both formats. India's first ever test series win in Pakistan came in the 21th century whereas Pakistan had defeated India in India back in the 20th century. You must have forgotten the 2005 ODI series where Afridi destroyed your team

While other cricketers play for their country, he is the only cricketer who play for his fans.

Today KK was on the receiving end of a rampaging Afridi who was in murderous mood. For a few minutes I experienced what it felt to be an Indian all through the 90s and 2000s.

For those who thinks Misbah is will retire after WI series and better than Afridi, they are living in delusion. If Misbah was honest he should not make a retirement drama after Adelaide test and now totally opposite (Did he suddenly become 25 years old with terrific form).
Retirement decision is upto Misbah but choosing him as a player should not be in his hand. Otherwise what the job of selectors of PCB?

2005 was 12 years back. In the India vs Pak games with Afridi Pak has lost more games than won and in many of them Afridi lost matches from winning positions. Its not just world cups

same record Kapil dev has for India
Lost more than won cause Pakistan dominated in the 20th century

International cricket said Khuda Hafiz to him a year ago.

This is like saying "I quit" one year after being fired.

i dont want him back but some of our batting in the last 2 years in the last 10 overs batting first when we see rizwan and nawaz struggling haz been a joke. imad has only had a couple of good innings too.
could do with some boom boom down there. hopefully shadab will take his place at number 8

Shahid Afridi speaking during the ongoing LQ v PZ match:

"After the Board created the issue of the farewell etc, I decided then that I am only going to play league cricket just to please my admirers."

"I am not that big of a star but I am grateful to the Almighty for putting so much love in the hearts of my admirers."

"I have always encouraged newer and younger players."

Afridi has amazing nerve.

So what was Rafatullah Mohmand doing in the T20 team vs England ? You took Khurram frickin' Manzoor to the Asia Cup. You gave a free ride to TTFs like Anwar Ali and Ahmed Shehzad for so long despite their repeated failures. You took Mohammad Hafeez to the World Cup despite his long line of failures in T20s.

Is that your idea of young, fresh blood ?

He took the names of Umar Akmal, Ahmed Shehzad, Wahab Riaz, Sharjeel Khan and Asad Shafiq if I recall correctly.
