While the Indian Premier League is still underway, predictions for the ICC Champions Trophy from June 1, have started doing the rounds. Former Australian cricketer Michael Clarke feels that the conditions in United Kingdom (UK) will have a lot of bearing on the performance of the teams and considering all the possibilities, it will be India versus Australia in the finals of the high-profile tournament next month in England and Wales. "I see India and Australia in final. The conditions in the UK are going to play a big part. For example, if there's swing and seam on offer, Australian pacers will be tough to face. That will hold us in good stead. The likes of Mitchell Starc, James Pattinson, Josh Hazlewood, Pat Cummins can be tough to face," Clarke told reporters on sidelines of a promotional event.

He also believes if it becomes hotter and some turn is on offer, spin twins Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin will be difficult to face.

"If it's hot and the wicket spins, there's no better exponents (on those tracks) than Ashwin and Jadeja. That will be in India's favour. In Jadeja, India have the luxury of a quality spinner, who can bat. He is as good a spinner as anybody in world cricket," said Clarke.

While it has been a struggle for likes of Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane during the IPL, the former Aussie skipper feels it won't be much of a concern during Champions Trophy.

"It's a different format (50 over). You get more chance to build your innings during batting. I don't think the Indian batsmen will be too concerned about their form in IPL or not," Clarke said.

Clarke also heaped praise on the current Indian team for the eight-national tournament and said that Virat Kohli and Co. are a good mix of youth and experience.

"They will have enough time to prepare for Champions Trophy. They will be confident having won the Champions Trophy, last time. They have had success in shorter formats in the United Kingdom," Clarke said.

I dont think he realizes the strength of the English ODI team as all these predictions are mere hopes more than anything else.

England/NZ v Australia more likely. India will make it to the semis and will come across Eng/Aus/NZ either at Sophia Gardens or Edgbaston. They stand a chance at Edgbaston

England may have the edge over India plus Australia could end up facing India in the semis.

India have a solid chance of winning CT.People underrate pace bowling attack of India. It will not be easy for any batsman to score against Shami and Bumrah.Bumrah can seam the new ball and bowl yorkers as well.Plus he is excellent at death bowling

Please confirm you're kidding. If Indian seam bowlers can bowl well, Aussie, SA, Pak, England pacers will kill it this CT.

Indi has a good line up on paper and can definitely win however the form of the batsmen is working hopefully they peak at the right time and we can win..

I saw Burmah seaming the new ball in the IPL matches.I saw him live for the first time in IPL and have to admit that he is quite impressive.

don't understand why people are abusing him over this opinion. Two of the strongest sides. My prediction is an England vs SA final but India and Australia have a very good chance too

I'd expect Australia v South Africa, bit then just about anything can happen. Should be an exciting tournament though.

Why has Clarke become so biased towards India...

I think the final will be England vs Australia.

Clarke used to be one of my favorite players, but don't like him anymore for obvious reasons. :mc

Anyone who doesn't name Pakistan is solely because of the ipl money.

Or the fact that he's making positive comments towards Indian cricket whilst in India working for a very lucrative Indian league. Something he has done for a while.

Add to the fact that India are number four in terms of favourites for the tournament so technically an outside bet.

Playing the same card Brett Lee did and it's paying for food on the table so good for him

Get off your high horse.

I'm telling you guys now. Our performance is based on weather, pitch and whether we bat first of second. We can go to finals or get knocked out in early stages. Enjoy the fun ride and don't expect too much.

and pray enlighten us about how you came to the conclusion that a defending champion aren't even among top 3 contenders for trophy given they already pummelled one of the favourite side just a few months ago.

Logically SA are the strongest but will choke.

India/Aus/England 90% chance of the winner being from these 3.
