Glad to see nawaz smiling. Babar and rizwan wont fail in every match and our bowling will surely restrict ZIM to a low total.

This is a good thread. Look ahead, not behind.

Pakistan's is a very good team. All opponents accept it too.

Back-to-the-wall is Pakistan's best bet. Treat every game as cup final.
 
No interest in this match, even if they reach to Semis which highly unlikely, they will choke in the knockouts. Cricket is played by skills and presence of mind on the field, not by fake aggression and emotions.

That's the problem they look relaxed, they don't have hunger to win and fight till the last breathe. Babar gave same pep talk after semi final and Hasan Ali was considered hero despite dropping WC through his butter fingers.

Unless and until you don't punish your match loosers, you not winning any big tournament. There is no point glorifying consistent match loosers.
 
Will be a huge confidence booster if we win on Thursday and then Sunday. And then you never know, a good game against SA and we are very likely going to the semis.

Bavuma -QDK innings reminds me of Kaluwitharanas - Sanath partnerships. History will tell the SL pair revolutionized ODI batting when Kalu was basically piggybacking on Sanath's explosive batting.
 
We should play our strongest team against Zimbabwe. No need to take risks after that emotionally, physically and mentally draining match. Besides, some of our players need more game time. Just the one change: Wasim in for Asif.

I m still very gutted. It was a heart break of highest level.

It was like an year ago i asked out my childhood crush and she said no although i knew she was gonna say but still i had to ask her out and she crushed my heart so so bad and this match was just like that. They really crushed the heart badly.

Even though i knew before the match they were gonna lose due to the fact that match is being held in Australia but Pakistan gave hope after they had India at 32-4 but still they lost the match and after getting so so close.

It Hurts a lot. It hurts so much.

I think Asif Ali should be replaced with Hasnain, that way we have 4 genuine fast bowlers. Hasnain has more pace than Wasim which will be useful in Australia, Wasim does not have any extraordinary batting abilities to consider him an all-rounder

There's no backing down. Yes, the loss against India was very painful. Not because it was India, but because of the way the middle order fought back and we put India against the wall. Virat played a GOAT inning that doesn't occur everyday.

Moving forward, focus on the positives and do not play those with niggles. Shaheen did not look match fit and he should make way for Wasim JR. If Fakher is fit, replace him with Asif. Asif has been a complete failure against short pitched bowling and his miss-hits are never going to carry to the boundary in Australia. At the moment, he is completely useless.

The excuse that the middle order needs to be shielded is no longer valid. Given how well Shan and Chacha batted, Rizwan and Babar need a push to increase the run rate. Anything below 9 an over is unacceptable from the two. We need to increase our NRR as much as possible so that it doesn't bite us down the road.

We never understand T20 so far, if we ask any good cricket analysts they will tell us ideal position for babar is 3 not as an opener you need aggressive opener in today's t20 game we will loose 9 out of 10 times to big teams. Lets examine more i.e warm up match against Afghanistan rizwan 0 off 8 balls, against india we score 0 in first over despite a wide ball even in ODI it is not justifiable.

Sit and have a long discussion on your top 3.

The posters talking about Shan's innings being a positive clearly didn't watch the match because that was one of the ugliest innings I've ever seen.

The only positive was Iftikhar's batting, not sure why he wasn't asked to bowl an over just to keep the indian batsmen guessing but hey that's KING-BABAR-kaptaan-sahab-out-on-duck for you.
 
Not sure why Mohd Nawaz is smiling ear to ear, he's been an awful bowler in recent matches.

Babar is too risk averse to change the opening combo. We had a genuine reason to have these two open when the middle order was a complete failure. With Shan and Ifti stepping up and Nawaz contributing, there's every reason for the openers to up the anti and take more risks.

The bowling can defend par scores; however, it won't happen everyday. Instead, the batters need to take more risks, especially if there are eight of them like we had last game.

Recently most games we have won done by openers and middle order didn't get enough time on crease to get confidence middle order was tested in tri nation series and did well and did well against india, we need to expose middle order more often.
 
Would be interested in knowing what game plan Moyo and Saqlain are making, a real kick in teeth type game we had

Stick to the same game plan they have been playing with since babar took over. 1st 10 overs tuk tuk, last 10 overs boom boom. Just keep one thing in mind, ball would bounce 18 inches more than anticipated.
 
Don't understand why people are leaving out Wasim Jr he was our best death bowler in NZ along with Haris

Ideally Fakhar should be opening but that’s not going to happen. Shan @3 does not really take the innings anywhere but he remains due to his knock the other day .

6 bowling options should be plenty . The batting one can say lacks firepower down the order but Asif Ali has been poor.

Haider Ali other than the 30 in the tri series final has been awful .

This should be the team for the remainder of the tournament.
 
What’s the point of having Fakhar in the squad if he’s unavailable for probably what was one of the most important games for us? And possibly the rest of the tournament?

We are rushing him just like we rushed Shaheen who is half fit at best.

Could’ve gotten anyone else from domestics who was ready to go. Or M Harris who had been sitting on the bench for 2 months now.

One childhood crush gone is nothing. Time to diversify and ask out your second and third crushes.

Similarly, Pakistani fans are truly blessed.
With the fastest pace attack on the planet , the best wrist spinner and the World number 1 and number 3 batsmen in your lineup, yours is a team that is universally feared.

In 1992 and in CT '17, Pakistan lost early matches to India and then went on to smash everyone.

Even If you don't win it, you will still have bragging rights because your fast bowlers will win the speedgun contest as usual!

Should also bench Asif for another pacer at this point. He's been used as an 8th pinch hitter who is absolutely clueless vs bounce. If he is just a pinch hitter to hit a six or two, we've seen Shaheen/Rauf/Naseem who can also pull that off. They should put in Hasnain for him.

Overwhelm Zimbabwe with bounce and try to bowl them out quick for a NRR boost.

I’m worried they’re going to injure Shaheen. He does not look ready to go, and you could see it because he is bowling 10 kph slower than he does.

Should’ve played Hasnain and Waseem over Shaheen and Asif, and used the Zimbabwe game as a tune up for Shaheen and Fakhar if he’s ready.

And yeah, the whole world has warmed up to Asif. They know he can only smash full balls and half volleys, and is cooked vs anything short.

WACA is one of the very few Aussie pitches that is truly fast and pacey. If Pak bats first, I wouldn't be surprise to see our batting line falling like flies.
 
Our stat pads batsmen' favourite opposition. Babar, Fakhar can score big to cover their failures in big matches/better oppositions. Also Shaheen bowling will perform same as his mouth. Unfortunately its the bitter truth. Our players deliver big speech but fail when they needed most.

Fully fit Shaheen also failed in big matches. Our players cannot perform under pressure.
 
Regardless how bad is Shan, but at least he score where Fakhar waste balls and get out without even 20 runs. The guy was a super failure in Asia cup (batting/fielding/catching) and suddenly became saviour. Our fans really have short term memory.
 
I think Pak need 4 fast bowling option in these conditions, If we had 4 fast bowlers than result could have been difference.

Also Babar need to be aggressive in Captaincy. Don't let the opposition come back in the game.

This guy is not captain material and surrounded by flatter like Yousuf, Saqlain and Majed. Shadab has potential to be a better captain if he gets proper coaching staffs.

Pak batsman shouldn’t have nets on either side ie when Masood plays a shot guys probably say shot yaar but in the actual match this pathetic batsman keeps finding fielders !!

This is what I hate about Indians. That's why i wanted Pakistan them to decimate India. They were gonna break your this awful attitude but it was not meant to be.You guys are the worst fans.

Shaheen should be nowhere near the playing 11. He looks so unfit and so lethargic. I would play hasnain and Wasim instead of Asif and Shaheen.
 
The big question is not whether to play the 4th seamer because that’s a must. The question is who is dropped. I would drop asif Ali and keep nawaz who is a much better batsman.

I get the impression our bowlers offer too much pace for these gigantic boundaries

We are missing the medium pace trundlers Hassan Ali and Faheem Ashraf

Babar and Rizwan usually bring their A game against B/C string attacks and lower league sides

They will get 100-0 in 14 overs

Shaheen should be rested till SA game Fakhar if fit should be inducted to Bash the trundlers from Southern Hemisphere
RizBar have made it a matter of ego so they won't back down from opening

You can’t love this team when they are winning meaningless games outside of ICC events but desert them now that they are right in the thick of it!
 
I hope couple of things have become clear now to this "thicktank"

1. 4 pacera are must and wasim jr is in form giving best death bowling option so he is a must. You can toss up btw shaheen and hasnaian

2. Rizwan simply doesnt have techniqe to survive in australian. Any other management would have played shan as opener the only place suitable for him but alas
 
Also, those expecting an easy puting for pakistani batsmen in perth must come out of their fantasy island

The England and tri-series made Fakhar's case for him. A half fit Fakhar is a better prospect than Khushdil, Asif Ali, Haider Ali, Mohammad Haris and "anyone else from domestics who was ready to go".

Shaheen's case is a little different as we can feasibly replace him pretty easily. But wanting to use our premier bowler in a WC game against India isn't exactly the worst thing they could have done.

I am going to root for anyone who is willing to play this game in the correct spirit and the correct intent.

I am doing my best to root for this Pakistan team that chose to play this game in the wrong way since Misbah took over, and then Babar being handed the complete control without accountability

Do not tell me who to support and when. I am a lover of cricket, the game!
 
Perth always a bit tricky for subcontinent sides.

Agree with strengthening the bowling but it should be Wasim in place of Haider and Fakhar in place of Shan.
 
Hoping for Pakistan to make this match interesting. We will dominate them offocurse, but come on Pakistan do your thing :))

Or else this will be a boring match.

Question is, can Babar survive Muzrabani?

Yes, I’d drop Shan. Yes he played a handy role in the first game but there’s a sameness to babar/Rizwan/shan that we need to break out of. Fakhar in place of Shan does that

If nawaz is going to play against South Africa he might as well play against Zimbabwe. Game time to get used to conditions in Australia is helpful.
 
Pakistan was a better team in the first match. Eventually, Pakistan lost to the brilliance of a single player. The batters with the good technique have succeeded in this tournament. So it’s important for Babar to come to his term and light up the tournament.
