The South African Men’s selection panel has announced the 15-player squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, to be held in India and Sri Lanka from 07 February - 08 March.

T20 International (T20I) captain Aiden Markram will lead the side, which includes maiden T20 World Cup call ups for Corbin Bosch, Dewald Brevis, Tony de Zorzi, Donovan Ferreira, George Linde, Kwena Maphaka, and Jason Smith.

Kagiso Rabada returns to the T20I setup after missing the recent white-ball tour against India due to a rib injury.

South Africa are drawn in Group D alongside Afghanistan, Canada, New Zealand and the United Arab Emirates, and will begin their campaign on 09 February against Canada in Ahmedabad.

South Africa squad:

Aiden Markram (C), Corbin Bosch, Dewald Brevis, Quinton de Kock, Tony de Zorzi, Donovan Ferreira, Marco Jansen, George Linde, Keshav Maharaj, Kwena Maphaka, David Miller, Lungi Ngidi, Anrich Nortje, Kagiso Rabada, Jason Smith

Jason Smith is Very Hard hitter. Let's see how he performs at international level. :kp

He has been selected because of his spin playing abilities which Rickelton and stubbs lack.
Plus sr doesnt matter much in these world cups as 150 -170 will be par on most tracks.
Lol no

He was picked to keep quota balance

Have you watched Smith batting a day ago he is very good hitter. :kp
I dont performance in these ***** leagues.
Do u think a person can follow 4 leagues going on simultaneously??
This seems to dilute the quality of cricket

Too many fast bowlers.
Not many spinners.

Rickleton not being selected but good to see Nortje being back in the mix.

No Rickelton, Stubbs or Beretzke very surprising

Just shows the strength of SA Cricket at the moment

Normally you can name up to 5 reserve players they will probably be included there

I may be among the minority but I think this squad is terrible. On Maharaj & Linde are there frontline spinners. Ferreira can also bowl spin but its not enough.

They should of have taken one or two other frontline spinners. They should have looked at another keeper maybe Lhuan Dre Pretorius. They have too many pace bowling options.

They don’t really have much choice

I don’t think that leggie they brought to Pakistan is ready. Bjourn Fortuine is probably a better T20 bowler than Maharaj. He should have been there instead

Fortuin is useless. He's one-dimensional and he's not a wicket taker. His entire game is focused on controlling the flow of runs. Maharaj is an all around smart and skillful bowler with skills that naturally translate to all formats.

What has de Zorzi done in T20? He can't even find a place in the playing XI of his SA20 franchise team

Breetzke's T20 numbers aren't that great. He hasn't lit the world on fire in the SA20 either.

Nay... South africa??? Nope... India or australia arethe top contenders.

South Africa have a killer T20 side. But, they generally don't field their main teams during bilaterals.

I think they should do much better during the World T20.

In ICC events bowlers make the play unlike bilaterals where batsmen rule the roost. Team with stronger bowling unit will go far.

I can't believe Rickleton and Stubbs missed out for Jason Smith and Tony de Zorzi

Omitting both Rickleton and Stubbs was the right decision considering their T20I records are below average.

The shocking thing is the selection of Smith and De Zorzi .

They should've taken a punt on Jordan Hermann

Stubbs's record is okay but he has what it takes to be a good player in T20. Rickleton is batting very well in SA20... scored a century last week

What about Otneill Baartman? Maybe Steyn is right to question his exclusion. He's the current and all-time leading wicket-taker in the SA20

Anrich Nortje , Rabada and Jansen - These are going to play most games along with Maharaj, Linde and Corbin Bosch. :kp

Obviously that is their main pace attack, and I don't think anyone can argue that isn't their best configuration of fast-bowlers. But what about Maphaka and Ngidi? I get that Maphaka is a good talent but what has he done to earn that spot? What has Ngidi done? He's playing purely on reputation.

Ngidi has played 3 T20Is in the last 2 years. Yet South African selectors still feel they can bank on him as one of the back-ups.

Maybe They have to fill quota systems that's why they selected Ngidi? I'm not sure about it. :kp

Where’s that guy who almost won them the last world cup batting against india?

He was a great hitter.

Smith, Tony de Zorzi and Maphaka weak links in this squad
Just saw that Steyn had picked out these 3 names as questionable selections as well.

To be fair to Shukri, he has made some shrewd selections in his tenure in Test cricket and he's a much smarter/more competent guy by far than McCullum/GG so let's see if these left field selections actually work

RICKELTON & STUBBS FOR T20I WORLD CUP

Rickelton & Stubbs replaced injured Tony De Zorzi & Ferreira in South African squad.

:kp

Since South Africa broke their trophy drought, I expect them to win more ICC trophies. It is like how Spain won multiple trophies after winning 2008 Euro.

I wouldn't be surprised if South Africa end up winning this World T20. Team is strong on paper.

They botched last time...Should have won that one but anyway, let's see

1. Aiden Markram (C)
2. Quinton de Kock (wk)
3. Ryan Rickleton
4. Dewald Brevis
5. Tristan Stubbs
6. David Miller
7. George Linde
8. Marco Jansen
9. Keshav Maharaj
10. Kagiso Rabada
11. Anrich Nortje

Credible batting till No. 8 and all of them possess the ability to up the tempo, and are in form. Some of them even possess the ability to destroy bowling-attacks. Otneill Baartman is a miss because he would have been a good back-up option. That said, I don't think he makes the first choice XI over Rabada, Nortje and Jansen. Maphaka and Jason Smith are weak links for sure.

ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 Squad Update

Proteas Men’s batter David Miller has been medically cleared for next month’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 in India and Sri Lanka.

Miller successfully underwent a fitness test this week following an adductor muscle strain sustained while playing for Paarl Royals during the Betway SA20.

He will join the squad on Sunday when they depart for Mumbai from OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg.
